July 30, 2010 Mickey's Adventures England to Espana Cruise

It was a very warm one... But we had a lot of fun, and Castaway Cay was very nice. We went to Serenity Bay while Manon was with the teens. It was perfect wheater until 2 PM, and then we had a real thunderstorm. So we were back on the Magic around 3 PM, everybody silk and wet. But I suppose you're wet anyhow when you're on Castaway Cay :rotfl2:

Hot day here in Belgium right now: over 30°C... :scared1:

Yes, Castaway Cay - very lovely.. oh dear about thunderstorm..

Here the weather are so beautiful this week apart from last month was terrible weather...

Is anyone interested?:thumbsup2

I will volunteer to organize, but I would like;

a)keep to small groups, example if 20 cabins participate then split into 2 groups so you only have to deliver to 10 cabins.

b) no rules on when you can deliver you gift.

I organized one last December when I went solo and it was lots of fun, but I have not done one with the girls and I am sure they would enjoy it.

So if anyone is interested let me know.

Lisa

I love participating in the FE - always have - but I wonder why the restriction to 10 rooms? It seems to be difficult to me, particularly if you already knew a few people on the cruise and they didn't get "assigned " to you, etc. I have never been on a cruise that we didn't give out and receive from everyone. This hardly seems like a cruise that would have vast quantities of participants, either, given how few post here on the Dis at this point.

The idea of assigning certain days is really just to spread out the FE gifts over the cruise, which personally I like, but I have done it both ways and don't feel strongly either way.

I think with the distance people are travelling packing light is going to be a high priority for many people. It is also nice to have an idea of the numbers involved. People tend to join late and if you have been planning on 10 cabins and then at the signup deadline 20 cabins join it becomes a headache. I know the FE I organized in December we only had 7 cabins for the longest and then in the last 2 weeks before the sign up deadline another 15 joined so people were upset about the big increase.

Lets get a list of people that are interested and then get eveyones input and set up the guidelines for what people prefer, if everyone wants to do all the cabins that is fine with me.

I certainly understand about packing -- I was on FE exchanges on a Med and a TA in 2007, and people did tend to pack smaller items or buy things once there for the FE . . .

Every cruise I have done this on, we have set a deadline (usually about a month before sailing) to join up, and after that it is just not possible since so many people need to buy or make things ahead of time. This will be particularly important on a European cruise since many do a land stay before, or are already on the ship (we are doing the 12 night Baltic cruise before this one). For the cruise I am going on this August 29, there were two deadlines - one right after final payment, and another one, Aug. 9, where people were marked as late comers if they joined after final payment but by this date, and knew they may not receive from everyone. The person who did the list is marking the late comers in a different color -- and no one is accepted after Aug. 9th. On other cruises there was just a final deadline for joining.

Wow looks like you had a fantastic evening!
Scottishwee35 you have been very busy with the logo too! It looks great:banana:

We've just been to Tenerife for a week using DVC points. So nice to see some sunshine! Came back to find my aunt who has been ill for sometime had deterioted over the week and she passed away yesterday afternoon as I sat with her. You really do have to take the good with the bad don't you. At least she had family with her to the last! Just supporting my mum through it all now. She was the last living sibling so she's taking it hard as they were always close; shopping together, going on holiday with us when I was younger and they lived very close. It still a shock for her even though she knew it was coming.

Thank you, I think of all the tricks I pulled on her as a youngster growing up! Especially the time I changed the gizmo on the bath from bath to shower and half drowned her! She did get her own back though!

You look great in the tutu....perhaps we should all do that look next year????? DHs included???? LOL

Tenerife was great, very hot! We went on a catamaran trip and saw bottllenose dolphins and whales. We all felt sick because the sea was a bit rough! DD kept saying 'I wish I was on the Magic because I didn't feel sick on that even in that gale!' The dolphins were beautiful to watch and so curious. It was certainly a highlight of the holiday!

We also felt very smug when approached by timeshare dealers. It was fun watching their faces when we said we had a Disney timeshare! :rotfl: Listening to the people around the pool talk, I was soo glad we bought DVC!

Now that's one holiday out of the way DH can't complain about me planning next years! I have owned up to booking the Dover hotel!

We're going to stay for a couple of days in Barcelona too, to visit places we couldn't last time.

I have been looking at flights too. Jet 2 fly to our local airport from Barcelona but they have limited their days for next year so I am investigating other options. Easy Jet have just announced they are no longer flying out of Manchester and switching some flights to Leeds Bradford. Nothing is showing on their wen site yet but this is another possibility! Also BMI but haven't looked there either yet. DH works in Birmingham and there is an airport one train stop from his flat. He has suggested we fly back to this one if we can't get times etc fo Leeds. He'll leave the car there so we'll just drive back from Birmingham. Too many choices!

Keep planning!

Good Morning from Sunny Florida:

My husband and I are planning a trip to St. John and Tortola for the first week of December. This will be our first trip to these two islands. Everyone on this DIS board are world travelers, so I was hoping to get some advice on Tortola. Good places to eat, fabulous beaches, quality vendors for scuba diving, snorkeling, and kayaking, etc...Any advice would be wonderful!

We will be staying on St. John for three days and Tortola for four. Our plans include diving the Wreck of the Rhone made famous in the movie, "The Deep" and exploring beaches.

Thank you,

ScubaMickey
