July 28, 2012- MAGIC- NYC TO BAHAMAS

I just wanted to add a note to one of my DD and the FE list. My 4 year old has a nut allergy that I did not enter into the sheet prior to it being closed.

Thanks and can't wait to we set sail in 29 days!!!

Hi, guess i should introduce myself - I am Rebecca and I will be on the cruise with my daughter Tamba who will be celebrating her 10th birthday. We are on the fish extender list and are going to get started on the gifts. Our first time on a disney cruise so we are very, very excited!

Welcome to the group! I'm Laura and I too will have a 10 year old (Jackie) who will turn 11 at the end of the cruise and a 13yr old (Samantha). We look forward to meeting you!:grouphug:

here is the web address to the June 2nd 8-night Bahamian Magic Navigator - thanks to Jamm113

I love to know ahead of time! My girls are already highlighting their 'things to do' on the days. Great resouce-many thanks!:cheer2::woohoo:

I do not know how common it is for girls to wear a princess costume to board the ship. But even if she will be 'out of place' I think it would be adorable and no one would comment negatively about it. Just do it and enjoy!! :cheer2:

Are you kidding?! I'd wear a princess dress to board the ship if I didn't think I'd get mobbed by little ones wanting autographs princess: Sericously though my 10 year old wants to also. She's even thinking of being Tinkerbell for Pirate Night. It's Disney-go for it! :tink:;);)

Sounds like we are birds of a feather...
Shopping is a hobby of mine...I am always on the hunt for a good deal. I have invented a new hobby too.. I call it returning. That is when you plan for a about 40 young girls for the FE and turns out there is only 15! :rotfl:

We must be a flock then! I am so with you both on the shopping (& returning). We've have a great time FE shopping and bagging/tagging. :grouphug::thumbsup2

I bought some of the fold flat water bottles that look more like bags with spouts. They have carabiner clips on them so that you can hook them to your bag or belt. They are really nice compared to lugging a water bottle. I got mine at Five Below but many sporting goods sell them as well.

We have these also and they are great-we have used them several times already. Early May I also found them at the Dollar Tree for $1 each. Very handy:coffee: Another must have is the neck wraps that have gel bead in them and you soak in cold water. We have survived several blazing August weeks at the parks with them. Again available at Dollar tree and five below. :wizard:

I finished mine up this week. The kids in my party are my sister's so they are not here to help me, but they saw what I was giving and kept asking, 'why can't I have that??'. Hopefully all the kiddies will enjoy just as much!

Not long to go, prior to the cruise we are spending 5 days in New York City and will be doing all the usual tourist hot spots, can anyone recommend any non-touristy type things I should do aswell. Also any recommendations for places to eat for Steaks/Ribs/Pizza's, cheers.

I remember walking through the Central Park zoo a quite a few years ago. I found it amazing that this little piece of zen existed in the bustle of the city.
As far as places to eat.. I don't have much advice on that subject.

I was playing around on the Disney cruise website, pricing out other trips we might want to take. Just for a lark, I looked up our cruise. There are A LOT of cabins left still.

It looks like our ship is not going to be anywhere near full unless they sell a bunch of cabins at the last minute. Odd! :confused3

I won't be upset if it is not full. Will make deck 9 more enjoyable.
My sister and bro-in-law have told us recently that they are now going to join us, but have still to book a cabin. Holding out for a bigger price drop than the OGT and VGTs.

I agree! A less crowded ship would be nice!

I just thought it was odd since it's right in the middle of summer- kids are out of school. Hmmm....

Probably a lot of people are opting for the newer ships, though. And many sports do start up end of July/beginning of August. Still....

We'll see, I guess! :)

If the ship is not full that means more space on Deck 9 and the theater will have a lot of good seats- althought there are really no bad seats in the WDT.
The children will have more attention in the club and the lab etc.

It's filling up though. Only 29% of categories have rooms left. It would be nice if they don't sell. I'm still hoping for an upgrade as all the interior rooms and restricted rates have sold out.

Tony- LOL! When I was in London one year over the 4th of July (at age 15), my tour guide informed me "We don't celebrate that over here."

You know, the whole Revolutionary War thing! :rolleyes1

But that night at dinner he DID bring my sister and me a piece of cake with a sparkler in it! ;) Hey, he wanted a good tip! LOL! :rotfl:

Just thought it was funny that our Happy 4th of July came from the UK! ;)

I called to see if I can get an upgrade or move my room within my category and they told me that my category was sold out...I asked him if the ship was sold out - He said no but very close...Who knows if he was just telling me that.. OH well, my first cruise and the kids and I are sooo excited...

Been clothes shopping for the kids and they are loving it esp my 10 year old. Finally getting her to buy dresses!!!Just need to get my 6 yr old formal wear and then I think we are done....

Anyone know how big the closets are on the ship = Thinking of hanging all the clothes up and putting them in garmet bags..Amything thoughts??

Pluto Ears- That's interesting! Now I'll have to head back over to the Disney cruise site and see what pops up as available for our cruise! LOL! :D

I still need to go shopping for MY formalwear! I promised myself one new dress for this cruise. Now I just have to find it! ;)

Good luck shopping for all of your kids. My daughter and niece plan on wearing princess dresses to dinner every night. Sounds good to me! We already have them! Might as well pack them and wear them! :thumbsup2

I can't believe we're getting so close to the 28th! Yay!
