July 28, 2007 - Romeancing the Mouse in the Med Cruise Reunion thread!

OMG! Northern Europe cruise? I'm soooo poor now. We are building a barn and its almost done. Its bigger than the house but now I have a training area for my dogs and hubby has a garage for his boat and fishing gear and toys. I was just looking at the Adventures by Disney. Wow, I didn't know they did that. Jim wants to go to Galapagos Islands and South Africa safari. Too many things to do, so little money.

So whats going on with everyone? Who is on cruises this year? How about next year? I can at least enjoy by hearing about your vacation plans.

Hi Jeanne,

Good to hear from you - how are the dogs?

I'm excited as I have booked my airfaire to the USA for Next year today. Dave does not even know yet as he is away in Egypt scuba diving:rolleyes1

I'm on Aug 1st Eastern cruise 09 buy I know quite a few of the others are on the 18th July cruise. (we don't get out of school until the 17th so it was a bit tight for us).

The barn sounds great- wow.

Take care x

Hi Helen,
The dogs are doing great. I took my young one to a herding trial in August. It was my first herding trial and we came away with an title! My agility dog didn't want to do any sit-stays at last weekend's trial but he still managed to get 3 qualifying runs. And my retired golden is doing great. Her health is holding up.

The barn will be lots of fun. Jim put wood siding on it so that it looks like the house. We're just about done with it. Need to re-route the backyard fencing around it so that the dogs have a backyard again. Just got my brand new tunnel and getting a used teeter. So almost ready to have fun.

Well done on the herding:thumbsup2 Floss' my youngest dad (and breeder)has just got into the GB team for working trials . I love watching dogs work. Its funny FLoss; instinct to herd she always tries to round Dave and me up when we are out for a walk.;)

Ben loves the tunnel - when he was 8 weeks old I went to toys r us and bought him a kids pop up tunnel. when you say teeter is that what we call a seesaw I wonder?;)

:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: I've just booked my flights for next year Sat 18th July - Mon 10th Aug :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Can't wait to see you!!!!!

Yes, I've been checking out 2010. We'd love to do Northern Europe!!!! I can't believe they will finish before Europe gets out of school. Might that be on purpose because they know they would have to turn too many away and that would be bad PR. I would love for them to add St. Petersburg (Andrew hinted at this) but with Russia not playing nice in the world right now, maybe they'll skip that port. I've already told hubby to cancel any meetings for the first day of booking. For the Med he was on hold for three hours!!!!:scared1:

Glad Dave had a super time.

Seriously, WELCOME BACK JEANNE! :yay:

We are booked for the July 18th, 2009 Tortola cruise. We couldn't wait until the August one b/c my girls are back to college by then.

Try to waitlist the 2010 trips for late July. Those itineraries sound too good!

Thx again for all the excitement you generated with the lanyards last summer!:thumbsup2

Tell your DH to get a TA to book it. That's what I do and they seem to have more leeway in getting what you want at the cheapest price. PM me and I'll send you mine if you want.:thumbsup2

That sounds like a good idea. I usually like doing it all my own but I hate the waiting to book. I'll PM you too.;)

We'll probably book one of us on points. I remembering calling ahead to find out exactly what we needed to book. I think we had to pay one of us cash right at booking. Better start saving my pennies...(I mean $100 bills):scared1:

Hey MAryAnn hope all you parent teacher meetings went ok

I spoke to DVC member services today - They said that for the conceirge collection 2009 they will still have the Regencey hotel New York -

I've read its quite residential the area its in - Will it be easy to get to the major touristy sights do you think from that hotel. I think we are going to book it as it will be great not having to pay for a hotel;)

Incidently when Dave came in from work (bad day he bumped his car) I said
me- I called disney today

Dave - why?

Me - Oh I just fancied having a chat I missed an American accent

Dave - :scared1:

The look on his face was priceless

Take care

Helen, while most of the buildings on Park Avenue around the Regency are coops (apartments where the building is owned by the residents, who are shareholders), the location is quite close to midtown -- about 5 blocks to Tiffany's and FAO Schwarz, for instance, about 12 blocks to Rockefeller Center, 3 blocks to the south end of Central Park, etc., etc.). You are also only 2 blocks away from a subway stop (59th St. on the Lexington Line, 4 and 6 trains and connections to N, R, and Q), so anywhere you don't care to walk you can easily get via subway. I would say it sounds ideal! That's a much better neighborhood than most of the touristy hotels around Times Square.

With this much time to plan, we should be able to come up with something really fun -- maybe dinner and a Broadway show together?????:cool1: :cool1:
