I thought that every day until I leave for the trip (late on July 26th) I'd try to post a quote I like having to do with travel. Not that we need reminding of why we are so excited, but sometimes it's nice to be reminded of another's perspective. Today's quote:

I like to have a little local money before I get there, so that I'm not forced to look for money in the airport. My bank, Bank of America, did it easily for me, and at a reasonable rate. Once there, I always use ATMs -- they are everywhere and the exchange is favorable. Just be sure to call the bank ahead of time to let them know where you will be using the card so that it doesn't come up as fraud (do this for any credit card you plan to use as well). If you don't want to use ATMs, you can always bring US dollars and exchange them on the ship, or find an exchange bureau, but seriously I find the ATMs to be the best.

To get a little money ahead of time, if your bank really won't help you, you can go online and American Express and Travelex both will ship euros to you. The exchange rate is poor, but if you are only using it to have a little money when you get there, it's probably worth it for peace of mind.

Thx for the tips, I'm probably going to do it thru my bank, but I guess I need to contact credit cards either way...................I guess it's time to get down to the "nitty gritty" stuff!

Packing - I'm still shopping _ I bought another dress in the sales today and ordered more on line- I seem to have a complusion to shop for the cruise - I see something and I think oh yes that will be great. I now have far far too much stuff - Packing is such a nightmare - What to leave !!!

I hear ya!! I'm going to start packing a week early b/c I always overpack and I hope I can control myself this time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think I probably have enough, I bought a few bathing suits a few weeks ago!

Anyone heard anything about the differences between the two beach excursions in Sardnia ?

We're booked to go to the Coda Cavello beach but I'm wondering why bother to pay the extra when all the boys want is sand and sea for a couple of hours so I'm thinking I mught change for the other tour I was just wondering what the difference was ?

WE are booked into Coda Cavallo as well. We read a blog about it and were not impressed. We'd like to get the Day at Sea at Maddelana (sp). If we can't we'll probable switch to La Cinta.

Is anyone else having trouble retrieving their reservation on the DCL website. Everytime I enter my password details it just keeps returning me to the sign on page

I had trouble most of the day. I just kept trying whenever I could and eventually I made it through.

Well I've started...I got out the suitcase tonight.

Thankfully I had enough foresight after our Xmas cruise to put all the clean and ironed shirts, t-shirts and shorts straight into one of the suitcase ready for this cruise Aren't I a clever bunny

NOPE! DH has been packed for weeks. He's ready to go! I"m not. I don't pack until the very last minute. If I pack too early I keep adding things I think I need. THis way I make a list and add those things to the list. When I'm actually packing I rethink them and leave a lot home. It works for me.

YES the pictures were wonderful. It brought back so many memories of our past cruises.

I went to two banks- Chase and Sovereign- to ask about getting euros-. Both told met to get them at the airport.

Where is everyone getting their euros?

WE use Bank of America and when I was there last month I told them what I wanted and they said to come in and order them and it would be there the next day. Or I could go to a branch about 20 miles away and get it right away. I don't remember the exchange rate but it seemed good at the time.
I general despise Bank of America, they have caused a great many headaches for me. But this is one case where they are useful.

Great picture! I did look at the other ones. I loved the TP gifts. I think you both look great in propeller hats- defintely ready to cruise!

I'm so jealous, No one on the Dis lives anywhere near me. So I'll have to wait for Barcelona and the DisMeet on board.

We are in a heat wave but the front is coming in so the sky is an incredible color and they are saying the temp is going to drop 30 degrees. So we won't need the AC for sleeping tonight.

I bought a pair of capris at Old Navy and they are so incredibly comfortable I'm going back to buy them in every color.

Bottom line...............we're going to try to meet on Sunday morning at 9:30am in the Promenade Lounge................there's been discussion about rolling toilet paper for foreign ports, wearing glo necklaces for Sailaway Deck Party, getting "pirates" when you post on the "00" post of this thread, some are doing a "fish extender" outside their stateroom and decorating their doors..............we are encouraging all to bring one grab bag from your hometown with items costing $15-20 to exchange with another family..............I hope this synopsis helps.............I'm the rest of us will update you as well.................also there are some "unofficial" DISmeets in Barcelona the night before..............Andrew from UK has created some lists on page one of our excursions, pictures, and Mary Jo has created a list of all of us and our room locations.................you can check that out for more info.....welcome!!

i caught a nasty bug this week so i'm going to try and relax this weekend. i still have 8 hours of lost to watch maybe i'll veg in front of the tv. i also plan on taking lots of cold meds

Order Euros, by the way how much do you think we'll need? what does lunch cost, or a drink in a cafe, or coffee and pastry?

Finish Calendar I've made a very detailed calendar using the disboard and navigators etc.. to make sure I have the right clothes for each day. Everything we tentatively want to do, shows, events dinner and dining rooms.

Question, how soon can we find out what dining rotation we are on?

Try to book Palo for group Tea if possible.

Sew Fish Extender and Decide on Fish Extender gifts.

Start Calendar of activities for DD13 while we are away.

And that will be enough for next week!!!!!!

I'll let you know how I did next Friday.

Thx for the support.............I signed up for the WDW Half Marathon and I'm walking it..................my husband is a true runner, I'm just going along for the ride, I did my first HM in Feb and I averaged 15 minute miles.............my ticker is a cross-section of a variety of miles..........walking, stairclimbing, and biking..........in the Fall I'm going to step it up to prepare for the January meet............wish me luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
