July 28, 2007 - "Rome-ancing the Mouse Cruisers" -11 days! Part 3

I was just putting papers together for the cruise, and looking at the original date on the conformation fax from DCL of 4-3-06, it seemed like this cruise was forever in the future!;) Now, after all these months, over a year of talking---we are almost there:banana: ..... Now I know the time will fly. This has been so much fun, planning, talking, & making new friends! Do you think the :smickey: ship can take us?

Harole Ann,
I feel the same way. We booked this back on June 15, 2006. We started looking into it in April. So it seems like forever and that it would never come.
I still have that mindset that we have lots of time. Panic is going to set in one of these days.

I'm trying to get one thing done per day. THe biggest concern I have right now is that DH hasn't taken his Tux to be altered. He has lost weight and it is too big for him. I don't know how long it takes to get it altered. He has a very busy schedule right now and he's trying to play tennis 2-3 days per week so that doesn't leave him much time and I can't do it for him.

Anyway, We are both so excited about this trip. We finished watching Under the Tuscan Sun tonight. There were some incredible scenes of Positano and now I want to go there. It was gorgeous!!!!!

DD15 has a friend over tonight for a sleep over which means no sleep until very late and then they won't want to wake up in the morning.

IT won't be long now.

Sandra

Hello everyone.....I know there is a group for Brunch on the 1st sea day. Does anyone want to start another list to try and get Brunch together (or dinner if Brunch does not work out) at Palo? I think it would be fun and I would be glad to try to make the arrangements.
Just let me know.
See ya real soon!

Penny---Do I need to shop at Wal-Mart for you?

Harole Ann you're a sweetie! I'm actually going to Miami the week before the cruise so I'll get caught up on all the things we've talked about here.
Thanks for the offer!! It's scary when I get to Miami and get to Walmart it's like Christmas.:hyper:

I know how you feel. It seemed like I had so much time and now the panic is slowly starting to set in. We're in the middle of building a new house too, so life is very HECTIC. The cruise will be a welcome relief from all the planning and building plans.

My kids are still in school. They don't get out until Friday so this week is full of the end of year activities. My 12 year old leaves next Monday with my DH for a week long baseball tournament ' Salue to Baseball' at Disney.
He's having a great Summer! :)

Hi Lisa, I would like to try and get together, do you think we'd be able to get reservations? It would be for me and DH.

We must have passed each other on the road - you going and me coming back. It's still beautiful right now up there, albeit a little dry. The waterfalls are nothing compared to normal.

I really need to get up there in Spring - that's my favorite time, though winter is pretty special as well.

It was strange going to Yosemite falls, and seeing the whole stream area below the falls crowded with people climbing rocks to get as close as possible. Last time I was there, anyone who had dared get off the path would likely have been washed miles downstream within minutes.

Rule for climbing the Tower at pisa

  • You must leave your luggage at the bottom.
  • You must not eat up to 12 hours before to ensure it doesnt topple over.
  • You must take your left shoe off to counter balance the angle.
So no topsiders am!!!

When very young, I thought it was the leaning tower of Pizza. I have since learned that is not the case, so no longer have any interest in visiting it. :rolleyes1

OMG! That's been happening to me - Youngest DD is 14 and I thought it was me! The :rolleyes2: and the 'tude! I could stangle her and she really is a :cutie:! Yeah - it isn't me.

It's an evolutionary thing you see. Flowers have thorns. Sharks have teeth. 14 year old girls have the ability to generate a sneer of such disdain and power, that anyone seeing it feels instantly reduces to the importance of a flea (or less - fleas arguably have some value in nature).

That the sneer and associated attitude does not result in more stranglings such as you describe, is one of the true miracles of nature.

I had some girls in my classes whose sneers and disdain was so perfected, that I was simply in awe that such a thing could exist. Fortunately, being a teacher (and a part time one at that), and not a parent, I simply ignored them - which is ultimately what they wanted anyway.

"Plane stuff" -- are those the clothes you wore on the plane, anti-tourist clothes they will give you on the plane, or clothes with the emblem of a plane on them?

Clothes made of wood shavings - very popular among splinter cultures.

It seems as if I'm the only one up now.....so I'll just keep talking to myself.
If I stay up long enough I'll be talking to the Brits soon.
Speaking of the Brits, great sign for your door Helen. I feel intimidated now ...... if you consider yourself uncrafty I don't know how I would describe myself.

When we get the t-shirt designs we can have then use iron-on transfer paper to print out the transfers & put them on our t-shirts, if we take any. We also discussed using our logo on the front, where a pocket would be if we have polo/t shirts.

Isn't there a company (cafe press? or zazzle?) where you can send them your design & they'll print it for you? I'm considering that since my iron on transfers do not work very well. We'll see.

Penny -- the fish extenders that are discussed here are things with pockets - like a mail bag with pockets that you can hang on a fish hook. A lot of people have been able to find these at the dollar stores. However, I've been to 4 different ones and couldn't find one, so I am going to make my own from a couple of 6" canvas bags I found at Michaels in lime-green. We'll attach one on top of the other, and decorate them.

Here are some pics of fish extenders & also decorated doors that you guys can get an idea:

These are great pictures - really helped put it in perspective. Thanks for posting.

Wow! The actual tag fairy posted on our thread! This is amazing!

We are seriously lucky to have the tag fairy visit us so often, and actually post. I can't believe I missed her visit.

I've been trying to get caught up on the cruise blogs and I noticed that the allears site has some recent additions:

http://allearsnet.com/cruise/medcruise/medcruiseinfo.htm

I really appreciate this link. I have been reading their tips and found a lot of it useful. Thanks for posting it.

:scared: I just had the Most Major Panic Attack.............as I mentioned earlier today...I planned to register online today........so I collected my family's passports and.................Tara's was missing (DD22).......so I spent about 2 hours looking for it AND I FOUND IT..........but I was in major panic mode........I've been registering since then............MY ADVICE.......REGISTER NOW SO THAT IF YOU ARE MISSING ANYTHING, THERE IS PLENTY OF TIME TO STRAIGHTEN IT OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey, I work for M&S and see new green bags yuk!! Lots of people complained about it, don't like the colour:rolleyes1

Scottishwee35:surfweb:

GOod - does this mean they'll be clearance out sooner? :lmao:

:rotfl2:No offense to anyone that works for Molly Maids or or the other similar housecleaners. BUT all they do is spritz and wipe. I can buy a 3 pack of lysol wipes at costco and sends the kids around the house for much cheaper.

I want one of those plaques. My MIL has one that reads "Wash and Cook are 4 letter words"

Cool thing to know - now I won't try them out! :thumbsup2

I have no idea what that means........it sounds scary in a sci fi way:confused3

:rolleyes1 (;) )

You know I said I wasn't any good -this is my 1st attempt @ a door sign
meddoor1.jpg

Is it as bad as I think ?:confused3

OMG! Helen - this is CUTE!

I especially love the water theme - and eeyore is adorable. I need to borrow that one! :thumbsup2

Ok, I finally finished registering............it only took about 3 hours after searching for the missing passport and then waiting for the site to go back up..............my advice is.......REGISTER EARLY TO AVOID PROBLEMS......:faint: :faint: :faint:

Not sure there's room - I forgot to lose 35# before the cruise (stuffing the face smiley)

You too? Doc just doubled my medication. Now I am real jumpy in the morning, and get really bogged down around 1 or 2pm.

On a sad note - the 'nodules' on my thyroid are not only still there, but bigger. Doc gave me a name as i have to go have them do a special type of biopsy. He said to wait till after the cruise. I'm worried that i will have to have more surgery to have the whole thing removed. Wouldn't be so bad if I was in my 60's. But to think of taking medication for the next 60 years sucks.

Now that's a picture I have in my head!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
Do you think we could put it on a Tshirt:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Thanks 15 years later!!!!

He was a lot easier to handle 15 years ago, that's for sure. I'm not loving these teenage years AT ALL!!!!!

Sandra

My oldest is starting to get some of the teenage attitude. More the resistance that you often deal with, less attitude. Which is good because it means he's actually maturing. I know it sounds weird, but little things like that make me happy. Like when he called grandma and asked her how she was doing. and what was her day like, and what were her plans for tomorrow, etc. I actually walked away and started crying. (happy tears) He was 11 and finally learned how to talk to someone.

Now - my 9 year old on the other hand. Well - He's 9 going on 17. And has been since he was 6. I can't imagine what he is going to be like.

Hey all - on a dark note - walked into mom's house today - DD wanted to spend some time with her. Usually my mom comes out running to greet us - well all 4'11" of her that is - today she didn't she sent dad to intercept me.

Finally figured out why. DS was in the living room and they were trying to delay me so he can make an escape. :sad1:

Just wondering JoAnn, they do become sensible again right?

Someday, when he becomes sensible again, we'll talk again, I'm sure.

In the meantime, I have to admit - It hurt but such is life right?

BTW, had to leave when I found that out least they see my tears. I have an image to uphold anyway, according to my mom, I'm the strong one.

So I have been repeating that over and over for the last 3 hours.

Wonder if I should put on Gloria Gaynor's I will Survive! :guilty:

Laura - I am so sorry. I don't know what's worse. The fact that he is behaving this way, or that your family is tip toeing around it.

And they are those deary washed out blue and grey colors......

I just googled "hanging wall organizer" and found plenty to choose from. Those cookies do sound wonderful!

I have one but now I'm looking on that auction site to see if I can't find one of Eeyore! I forgot I need another one.

Many thanks for the good advise!

Now that all of the:laundy: is done, again---I hate that job---if we could join a nudist colony for almost a month, I would have it made!:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Harole Ann - you naughty woman! I knew I liked you! :lmao: :rotfl2:

Dan - you are too funny! Can't wait to meet everyone! :woohoo:

Oh Carrie - sorry to hear that your having health problems. Make sure you keep us informed. Someone out there is bound to have gone through what your going too and can possibly help allay any fears.

And THANK YOU ALL for the  and pixiedust: It really has helped me in my moments of darkness. I try not to let it get to me but sometimes, we all have feelings. I was telling DH that sometimes, I just want the world off my shoulders. Its hard and everyone has been so used to me being stoic (:lmao: ) that when I really need the  they all look at me like:  . Which actually is kinda funny - now I understand how I must of looked as a teenager when my mom was going through MENOPAUSE and she would break down - I would have this look: :scared1: :confused3  what do I do? Well, if Disney didn't have it right in that song - The Circle of Life - my turn now.

Hi everyone,

For those of you like me, who really aren't good at doing iron-on transfers, there is a site called Zazzle.com, that will let you customize a t-shirt in various styles & then send to you. I think the cost is fairly reasonable, depending on what you want to put on it.

Here is a rough sample of what a lady's t-shirt would look like with our logo on the front pocket and our tags on the bag -- there are also sleeveless, long-sleeved, men's, etc.

zazzle-tshirt-front.jpg

zazzle-tshirt-back.jpg

If you're interested, the website for the t-shirts is: http://www.zazzle.com/custom/tshirts

You can also personalize other items, too.

Thx for sharing this.......how would we get our designed Tshirts created by using their website??:confused3

They have a step by step process where you can upload graphics, choose if you want them to be in the center or over pocket, and you can add text. You design the shirt, approve the shirt, and pay for it if you want & they'll send to you.

The shirt with the front & back designs you see here comes out to $18.45 usd before tax & shipping. It is $2 less with only one graphic, that I could tell. I don't know if other t-shirts would be more or less.

:)

Ok, we've cancelled our first day Barcelona tour b/c we're afraid we might be happier just chillin' onboard or taking a quick taxi tour to Las Ramblas or HRC,,,,just scared that the traveling will be too tough and rest is a better than overkill..........????:confused3
