Thats BRILLIANT thanks so much for that Helen. I'm now going to get our metro cards for the 4 days we're in Barcelona after the cruise.

Do you happen to know (as the font of all knowledge !!) if you can use the metro cards on the open top "tourist" buses as well ?

Morning Izzi:goodvibes

Sadly the open top tourist bus is operated by a different company and you cant use them.

You can use them on the 'normal' buses - (TMB)

The site is excellent- it shows you the bus routes, metro routes and you can even get a 3d plan.

The tourist buses cost
19 Euros - 1 day Adult
11 Euros - 1 day child

23 Euros - 2 consecutive days Adult
15 Euros -2 consecutive days Child

I did consider using the tourist bus first but the metro / bus combniation was cheaper and it will be a lot quicker. (38 Euros total caost for 4 days 2people)

The tourist bus whilst it does have 3 routes it goes round in a complete circle that takes 2 hours to complete.

Hope that helps
:goodvibes

you can buy both the tourist bus & Metro/ bus cards from the website

JoAnn - if your tag changes - I'm gonna bust a gut rolling - sorta like this: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: ...

OK AS PROMISED - :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: and :dancer: to go along with it!

( :ssst: ) Good thing I'm maxed out on smilies! :rotfl2:

OK - I see that the :tink: has a TERRIFIC sense of humor - either that or she really wants to see me bust a gut!
Same!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL - YOUR TURN! :rotfl2:

Lol on the pirate: -- I think that describes most of us!

GALPP - Get A Life Podcast People...

Thanks for the tips! I just saw a Sports Authority in El Segundo - I'll take my ds there. I think he'll like it.

DH seemed to like the pants so good luck.

I'm looking into a tour that would include Pompeii, Herculaneum, and the Amalfi Coast if you're interested.

Mary Jo - I went for a private which I just finalized today which includes Pompeii, Herculaneum and Mt. Vesuvisus. I also made sure to ask the tour company to hire me a guide INSIDE of Pompeii - I guess they are not allowed to inside. I paid an additional charge for this but I've been reading some reports that cruisers say while you enjoy it on your own - many wished they had either the earphones or a guide to help them along. I'm hoping at Herculaneum they have the same thing. Our tour company wasn't crazy about the climb at Mt. Vesuvisus because he says that one does a lot of walking here. But that the driver will take us as close as possible and assist us in finding a local that might be able to help enlighten us about the crater on top. Sounds good to me! :thumbsup2

Picture me on the Seqway tour with my laptop... seeking the pirate.

::yes:: I can too -

I had that issue with a AAA agent that I booked through years ago. Good luck on getting all your travels arranged correctly for you.

Not so mad anymore - DH booked my ticket so I'm human again! Or as close to it as possible! :rotfl2:

Awwww, here's a big :grouphug: for you.

You have lots of good tips. Thanks for this one.

Wow - great tip - where would I get this? Office Depot? I like to get aerial posters, too, so a mailing tube would be handy.

Here in the states, Office Depot, Office Max, Staples, even CVS, Rite-Aid or Kinkos/Fed-Ex type of stores. I think even the post office has then now. They really do come in handy. I am hoping to find one at El Cortes Ingles. Not sure if I should take a chance or not. We shall see when I pack.

Lol, I know that feeling. Happy Birthday to your DD!!

Best of luck to Miss Jessica!

DITTO! :cheer2:

Love these hints. I have an aerial of the town my grandfather was born (Asturias, Spain -- Porrua), and would like to bring more, if possible. Also, if we see a print that I like I'll want to bring it home, too. I have one hanging in our front room of Las Meninas (a painting by the Spanish artist Velasquez).

WOW - sounds wonderful!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Laura, where are you downloading them from?
I'm :lmao: at you reading them ahead of time.

Mary Jo - I bought one the other day - The Good Guy by Dean Koonts - from iTunes. I didn't have any problems with it although I read some reports that some books download to iTunes library but won't play on iPod. Took a chance and it worked.

The rest, I have on audio and I upload them to the iTunes library which takes over an hour for each book - about 1 1/2 hrs for a 9-10 CD book. I like unabridged. The problem with this is that they have the wrong extensions. They load up as music and not as audiobooks. The one I downloaded from iTunes went into the right library but the ones that I uploaded go in as music. Which really isn't a problem but for someone like me who is anal about things being in the right place or where they're supposed to be - AYE! Bout gives me a heartattack. No problem, the only way this affects me - because they play right is when I "shuffle" (if I shuffle) because its designated as music - they will play. Somone on my other thread told me that I could convert to AAC format and then re-import them and rename them back into my iTunes library and they will be input into the audiobooks portion. Now if that made any sense to you then you can explain to me how to re-import them re-name them. I got them converted to AAC which is .m4a format but they need to be .m4b which tells iTunes they are audiobooks. I still have them as a .m4a format which I need to re-import back into iTunes. But - that is where my technical expertise ends. I'm lost after that.

Either way, I listen to them and then delete them off the iPod which itself is a learning experience. I can now get a 10-CD audiobook uploaded in less than 2 hrs! :rotfl2:

Hi thanks for explaining- I have just been and checked my cards they dont mention either:confused3

Isn't that the most annoying thing when the credit card companies tell you - oh EVERYONE has it - but yours doesn't? :headache: Beaucracy gives me a :headache:

This will be cruise #9 for us and we have always been on Deck 6 or 7 with a veranda. On our last cruise we had to have had the noisiest cabin on the ship and I don't know what was under us, but you would have thought it was the ships motors. If you have #6582, be prepared for noise.:scared1: Just a warning--in case!!

Harole Ann, we have cabin 6580!:scared1: I hope it won't be a problem. I need my beauty sleep:cloud9:

I think I only need 1 more family to complete the nametag list

donioc

Has anyone heard from donioc? I have not had time much lately?

Please let me know if anyone else wants any changes (like last name added or removed.....or spelling errors....(I always mis-spell stuff....you will not hurt my feelings!!)
You can remove our last names, unless you typed them up already. Either way is fine. Thanks for doing this.
Thx for noticing.........I'm having "one of those days" with my fam.........I could use a little ............... ........
 :grouphug:

Too Late!~

Congrats! JoAnn - Major pirate:!!!!
Congrats!

Morning everyone!! Off to work, but wanted to jump on & see what has been posted. (It's an addiction, I tell ya).

I'm going to look into books in itunes, thanks, Laura, and Dan, I'll check out the mailing tube.

El Corte Ingles is a good idea, too, porque tiene de todo.

Okay, off to work. I'm going to TRY and not lurk from work until lunchtime, so I'll talk at ya'll later.

Ciao

Helen,

Are we still on for 4cats dinner on Fri nite, or do you want to do something else?

Maryann

!

Well, it has been over a year and maybe what ever the noise was then has gone away---we can hope! On this trip we will be so busy and so tired when we get ready for bed we won't hear any noise!!:thumbsup2

Oh, I'm so bored - anyone out there who wants to help me waste time?
I have people staying with us this weekend and I'm having a BBQ/Party for DD softball team - what am I thinking when I hear myself say - "oh, why don't you stay at our house for the weekend - we have plenty of room" and "oh, let's have a team BBQ at our house"?
Now I have to clean - which is probably the one thing I hate more than grading papers - yuck!! We live on a gravel road so the dust is ridiculous and I don't do it often enough so it is really dusty. Then it makes me sneeze when it gets all moved around. I hate it I tell you, I hate it!! The only thing I actually get satisfaction from is getting the bathrooms cleaned - I love a clean bathroom - don't really care about the rest of it
Well, that's enough wasting of time.

So, I just played 3 games of solitaire and won all three - now what do I do? Don't tell me to clean - although I know that I should . . .

I want to print out some navigators to look over before the cruise. Do you think there will be many changes to the 5/26 ones? Or should I wait until a later 11 day?

Big decisions!! Our daughter will be a junior next year - we live in a college town - I think she may stay here her freshman year.

My DD will be a junior in the fall. She wants to go away to college like her brothers did.

She'll be glad to meet someone around the same age on the cruise.

I hate cleaning, too. I really don't do it as often as I should. What's that expression- clean enough to be healthy, dirty enougth to be happy or something like that.

It's nice of you to host the BBQ and have houseguests, too.

I don't think there should be too many changes but who knows?

Boy, it's quiet here today.

Thanks for the tip. There is still something "free" from the post office! We got a nice litho on another cruise and I really forget how we got it home safely, :confused3 but I think it may have come in it's own tube.

What a great group we have with so many helpful people out there. This has become one big happy:love: family!:grouphug:

Oh, thank you so much for answering - I was feeling like the last living DISer.

If Katie stays here for college, she'll definitely live in the dorms. Seems like lots of local kids stay here for a year or 2 and then venture out. Most of the parents still never see them - I definitely think it's important at that age to "set out".

We're very excited - she just got her first real job. She's working at a toy store on our Main Street. Can't work too much til we get back from Europe. She goes out of town every Fri, Sat and Sun for softball (tournament is in town this weekend - yea!!) and then we'll be gone for 3 1/2 weeks when we go to Europe. But, she starts tomorrow and will work more when we get back. Hoping she can swing work and school during the fall.

I'm with you on the clean enough - I think I'm a bad housekeeper - but then I go to other houses and mine is looking pretty good. That's what the kids always say - mom, chill, do you know what other people's houses look like???

Have you seen one for debarcation day yet? That is the one I am afraid to look at:scared1: . I am so glad our flight got changed from 10:00 to 1:05 or we would have been off the ship at 6:45!! I cry when I am the last one off the ship, could you imagine me at 6:45:eek: ????? Have to run---will be late for a hair cut--ketchup later!!
