Every family has "stuff". All we can do is the best we can.
In my case, my school has "stuff".....so glad summer is here, help me stay out of trouble and just concentrate on providing TP to vacationing Med Mouse travelers...............:woohoo:

Thx Maryann! I appreciate the support............question............WHY AM I A PROVIDER FOR MORE THAN ONE REASON?????;)

I know, you provide us with lots of laughs and TP!
:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Hi all,

I just wondered what your family , partners, significant others think about the dis - I'll share what Dave and I talked about last night.

Last year was the first time we met up 'dis' people on a cruise. We both agreed it was the best thing we ever did. Dave to be honest is extremly shy and nervous around new people. He was over welmed at first last year meeting so many people at our dis meet -However having linked our dining reservations with 2 other families it was like we were dining with friends , not strangers. This worked so well and Dave was really comfortable @ dinner.

This year there will be a lot more of us than our meet last year. So pleased be patient if you see someone sitting quietly in the corner of our dismeet that will be Dave.

You know some of our friends say that I make up for Daves shyness - but I really dont know what they mean????:confused3

We are both really looking forward to this cruise. But I have to laugh -Dave has absolutly no idea where he is going (ie countries). We discussed the 5 excursions we booked through DCL - but apart from that he is clueless. I can see him now on the ship saying - so where are we going tomorrow:lmao: As for me I have a plan all mapped out.

Deep down Dave is a wanderer -He loves to go out for a walk but has no idea where he'll end up.

Me on the other hand - I have to know where I am going and more importantly - how I'll get back:goodvibes
:rolleyes1

My hubby, well being a software developer and old school bbs supporter understands what the DIS is all about. We joke that I am 'doing research'. By nature he tends to be a bit of a hermit and would be perfectly OK if we only stuck to ourselves. He doesn't mind meeting new people or hanging out with new people, but he doesn't seek it out.
I on the other hand, can strike up a conversation with the person in line in front of me. He cringes at such behavior. But when you are standing in line for Space Mountain, or POTC, or.... it's easy to talk to everyone around you.

I am very much like you. We're not so much a control freak but more that we like to know what is going on. Jon is a typical guy, and takes the male shopping aproach to everything. Get in, get what i want, get out.

One time we were coming home from Palm Springs when a fire broke out in the Angeles forest. It closed down I-5 north, with expected delays of 1 to 2 hours. We got caught right around Magic Mountain. I whipped out the Thomas Guide and handed it to him to find a way around from where we were. (this is not a strong point for him - not that he isn't capable, but more that he isn't fast enough for my liking.) I pulled over at the next exit, took the guide back from him, and proceeded to flip through the maps. Found that the freeway ahead went off to the coast, and we could then take the hwy north, cutting back to 5 where we wanted to. Simple - took me all of 2 minutes.
I suggested, it being Labor Day and all, that we take it easy and drive up the coast for a while. It's a stretch that none of us had been on, at least not that we could recall. It's pretty, and it could be relaxing. Well, we stopped at Pismo Beach and played in the water for a little while. Then we got back on the road. He suddenly became a good map reader and started finding the fastest and shortest way back to 5 possible. I was :confused3. What about taking it easy? he just wanted to get home in the shortest time possible. He's like that when we travel.

Well needless to say we got caught in a major traffic jam on a stretch of hwy 33. And on the next car we bought him -
I made sure it had DVD Navigation!!!

Okay you guys...this morning I woke up nervous......this is such a big trip and I have never travelled to Europe. This is my first trip in my lifetime where I need a passport.......

There are 19 of us together.....I am sure everything will be fine.....but if I am nervous now(7 weeks to go), what will it be like when we leave???:confused3

Can you believe it's only 6 weeks now? I have to say that I am a very nervous flyer. It's not so much that I don't like flying, it's more that I have a real phobia of falling. (tower of terror not my ride) I suspect that this will all go really well for all of us. It's ok to be nervous. For me, the nerves are more from anticipation than worrying about what will go wrong.

Congratulations.

FYI,

I just got an email from the consulate of Spain and Andorra ..........

Thank you so much for posting this. I think a lot of it is common sense, but reading it really helps people to understand what to look for.

I got a note this morning that they should be good to go. :thumbsup2 Let me know if their accounts don't work.

Thank you so much - i logged in with them to test them out and they are working. i was so distracted this last week i didn't even think about them.

Very silly question,

Do we pay VAT on the excursions we book through Disney? I think it's just on durable or consumable goods?

Maryann

i left off on page 500, but I hope you got an answer to this. i will keep reading to find out.

Thank you, I will contact Kelsie around then! I think she has it on her list anyway.

I did the Grand Californian last time great location, but am thinking about all three Disney hotels, with a slight preference to the Disneyland hotel this time, pre cruise for four days in 2008.

Any views?

IMHO - With the kids, and summer time, go DL hotel. I am not positive if it is still the rule, but you can't pool hop during the summer. not that you can't let yourself into the pool area (there is a short gate that you can actually reach around to open the door from the inside). So, if you are thinking that you might want to take the kids to the pool, the DL pool has more to do.
The last time we were there, the pool at Paradise Pier is quieter because it is smaller, and has a simple spiral slide. Fun, but that's all they got.
The pool at GC has a slide too, and they have two pools. One for smaller kids, one for older kids. So that is nice, and they have several hottubs. things may have changed if they have remodeled again.

I've never stayed at the DL hotel, but I hear you want to be in the newer tower (which ever one that is). The rooms are more Disney standard size. the older rooms are reported to be smaller. but that is what I heard from someone else, so i can't say for sure. I do know that the rooms at Paradise Pier were better than at GC, unless you are staying in a suite.

You can use my suite if you want, I wont be there. :) It sits overlooking downtown disney, and the balcony sits right on top of World of Disney. You can sit on the balcony and look down onto the bakery and the security checkpoints. We've stayed in that corner when we go.

Hi all,
Wow .... I really can't keep up with everyone. Every time I come back to the thread there is soooo much to catch up on :coffee: :coffee: :coffee: :coffee: . By the time I've read through everything there is just too much to post replies to :surfweb: :surfweb: :surfweb: :surfweb: .
This is my first time I have ever registered with a forum ..... overwhelming is an understatement!!!
What a great bunch .... Just wish I had time to be more involved and get to know everyone before the cruise.

I know what you mean - i need to start doing nightly check-ins myself just to keep caught up.

Hello Everyone! I am back from my exile at least for a few minutes.

DD14 graduated last night and boy - was that both frustrating and fast.

I have come to 1 conclusion:

This last one is NOT going to be allowed to date until she's 21. :rotfl:

I'm happy you had such a great time, the pictures were all fantastic.

Hey - I guess this would be a bad time to admit that I too don't know how to make tea! :rolleyes1
To this day, I wonder if I made the coffee too weak? :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I love it - I laughed for a good 5 minutes upon reading this.

We are just coming up to the 499 page and he 500 page of this thread.

page 500 - that's about where i left off. So now i go back to page 501 to start reading about all this TP.

BTW - i love all the new tags. i am keeping track as I go along to catch all of them. then I will update the list.

I know, you provide us with lots of laughs and TP!

Hey - I just visited page 1 - GREAT JOB ANDREW! :thumbsup2

Anyway, just realized I haven't seen Lynn from LynTarrant on recently - does anyone know if she's ok? I'm hoping she just got tied up with end of year stuff but I think I remember her saying that she was having some company over the last time I saw one of her posts.

Lyn! We miss you!
No worries, she told us the last time she was on that she wouldn't be back for a little while........Lynn??????:confused3

better to be the tp girl than the no tp girl:eek:

2 Christmases ago - my DS gave me one of those one-cup coffee brewing pots. The ones that you just drop in a packet that brews one cup. Dang thing is still in its box on my pantry floor. I really think that I was scarred fro life on the coffee thing. ;) :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Wonder if that is another reason why I love to cruise so much I don't have to make coffee! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I have one now that you just add the beans to the top, as long as you don't go over the fill line, you have the perfect amount. Makes it so darn easy. When I have already ground coffee, I have no idea how much to use.

Yes - after reading one of the reviews, I changed a Marseille city tour to the one with the soap factory.

The site was... well, not to speak ill of their software developers.. well, a bit strange.

So here's what happened. On one reservation I deleted the one excursion and then added the other. Then hit "submit". It came back (after a long delay) showing no excursions. Nothing I could do would add the new one. I tried logging off and I couldn't get back into the reservation for 20 minutes. Then I could add the new excursion.

On the other reservation I did it differently. First I removed the old excursion, and clicked "Submit" to confirm that.
Then I added the new excursion and clicked "Submit" to confirm that - the new one was added perfectly.

In my case there was space in the excursion, so everything went well, but the site was definitely odd....

Dan

You know - the DCL website has been pretty bad lately. It's as if we are doing all of the QA work for them. I happen to work in QA, I create test cases daily. If they need someone to head their QA department, I'm in. In fact, they could just pay me in Disney Dollars.

i plan on packing, but i may try a test run to see how much is on the charmin roll. if it's not enough my room steward may find that the tp is disappearing at an alarming rate.:rolleyes1

Here is a summary of things we've discussed (most assuredly incomplete, but here goes)

Lime green: Official color of the DIS. People use ribbons, Mickey paint chips (Home Depot), t-shirts, etc., in lime green to recognize each other (this is done at parks and cruises

Recommendations:
Lime green ribbons: Put lime green ribbons or have something lime green during Cruise and at meets prior to cruise (AnnaS - Anna)
Glow necklaces: Preferred color lime green, however, any color would work - to wear when we meet Friday night and/or when we check in on Saturday. (salliep - Sallie)
Local gift bag worth $15-$20 with something from your area - to be exchanged at DIS meet
Fish extenders outside staterooms
Small, nominal gifts for fish extenders

DIS Meet: Sunday, Promenade Lounge (Deck 3) at 09:30
Group Picture: Location/Date/Time TBD

Photos of fellow DISers cruising: Page 529, Post 7933 (disneylover5 - Lisa)
http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=19165821&postcount=7933
Photos are also on Page 1, Post 12

Lanyards: To be handed out prior to the cruise & during the DIS meet (Kyla - Jeanne)
http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=19168700&postcount=7950

Nametags for the lanyards (disneylover5 - Lisa)
Lisa updates this list as she gets new information

Meet before the cruise
Meet at the Magic Fountain for the 22:30 show.
Drink (or two) at the Grand Marina hotel near the ship before the Magic Fountain mee

List of Pirates (Andrew the Pirate Keeper)
There are several posts with the list, but you can find a good list at post #8019
(btw: WMRegina gave me that weebles wobble tag - she would laugh at knowing that is my pirate name)
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1064311&page=535

Important components of the Packing List (Sandaneli - Sandra)
List of things to do:
*Make fish extender, buy fabric, figure out pattern actually sew
*Make door decoration, buy magnet, download pictures or "scrapbook" image somehow put image on magnet, test magnet with image attached
*Buy green glow necklaces
*Buy lime green ribbons to tie on clothes
*Buy extra TP to start rolling. Let's see 2 people times 6 shore visits = at least 12 rolls, then there is the supply for those not bringing or rolling
*Purchase/make or otherwise acquire hundreds of things for fish extender disboard gifts.
*Purchase extra luggage for said fish extender gifts
*Get part time job to pay for hundreds of fish extender gifts and overweight luggage charges.
*Purchase 2-4 white tshirts and iron on transfer sheets for printer to make 2 tshirts to wear on cruise to be identified by other dissers. (extra shirts are for mistakes)
*Make tshirts and then make them again when the first ones don't come out because I will have forgotten to reverse the printing. (I know me).
*Locate and purchase items of local interest for grab/swap at DisMeet.
*Print out family photos, coordinate with names and make booklet with names matched to faces so I don't totally blow it and call people by the wrong names.

Other Notes:
JoAnn will be providing TP rolls to those who sign up. I imagine her stateroom will look something like this when she unpacks:

And for the major pirates there's always

(Thanks, Justine for getting this pic)

And especially for the DISers

And we'll be well prepared for any church, right?
mummy.jpg

(This actually reminds me of the time that I got the bright idea to dress my ds as a mummy for Halloween when he was in 3rd grade (I think). I wrapped him up in toilet paper, and when I ran out, I used paper towels. I'll never forget the image of him sitting in the car on the way to school with his arms sticking out (think of the little brother in his snow suit in the movie "A Christmas Story"), and then shaking his head and saying, "I'm not very happy," with tears in his eyes. OMGosh, I felt like such a terrible mommy!! I called work & told them we had a domestic issue I had to take care of, and then went to the store & bought a ton of gauze. I dressed him up, and of course, as the day wore on, the gauze was falling off -- he got the award at school for the best homemade costume. He ended up a happy little boy that day... but the image of him sitting in my car w/paper ripping everytime he moved... it's really funny ....... now)

I see that they've heard we'll be in Italy and are preparing the artwork just for us.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! EXCEPT for the part about me........very funny list..........one change.........I thought we should wear thw glow necklaces at the Sailaway Party (since it's at night?);)

Tee hee ... That is just what you guys do to me when I'm trying to sneak on the DIS at work. (No work for me today, so it's good. ;) ) Seriously, I think we have a great group, and I enjoy the friendliness, humor, and empathy that everyone has been sharing in our thread. Oh, and Anna, I got up to page 48 of Google images.

I just haven't been able to bring myself to buy a pair...

JUST DO IT!!
