Arrived in Barcelona for June 6 Med Sailing

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After 3 days in Paris and 4 days in London, where my family had a wonderful time, we finally arrived to Barcelona tonight. Right now, I am so stressed that I want to cry!

From right outside the doors of the airport, we were hassled in Spanish. I really don't know what they wanted as the only thing I could comprehand was "train" but they sure got into our personal space and was very touchy feelie. I don't know if they were trying to get us to us the "train" or perhaps a taxi...but that made me very uncomfortable.

We took the Blue Aerobus into Las Ramblas and boy, am I SORRY we did. Buying the tickets at the machine was where the nightmare began. It would not take any of our credit cards (we tried 2 different ones). We proceeded to put Euros in there and the machine would not take a 20 Euro bill. The machine only takes 5 and 10 Euros plus coins. Luckily we still had some Euros from Paris earlier in the week.

As we were waiting for the bus, this man weaved his way into the line and got between my husband and I. He got too close for my comfort and I saw that he had his eye on one of our bags. I called my husband as I was behind him and told my husband to let this man go ahead of him. I wanted this man ahead of me so I can watch him. He refused to go ahead of my husband...in fact he never boarded the bus. BEWARE OF PICKPOCKETERS.

I was stressed out and I wasn't even on the bus yet. Well, my nightmare continues...they let so many people on the bus that there was no place for luggage...not that I was going to let my luggage out of sight anyway. The Blue Aerobus was HORRIBLE, there were several different stops and there WAS ABSOLUTELY NO INDICATION AS TO WHAT THE STOPS WERE!!!!! The made no announcements and since the bus was so crowded and we arrived at night I was really hard to see anything especially the signs. The bus driver was absolutely no help at all.

We finally got of the bus at what we believed to be Plaza Catalunya and had absoultely no idea where the heck we were suppose to go. In all the pictures I've seen and all the research I have done on the internet, it seem very straightforward that Plaza Catalunya is right on Las Ramblas. We'll at night it is not straightforward at all. We asked two Blue Aerobus drivers and they were not helpful at all. We then decided to take a taxi and the taxi drivers were not very nice or helpful to us because they said our party had too much luggage. One taxi drivers finally pointed us in the right direction and we finally walked to to hotel.

I can not recommend the Blue Aerobus to get into town. Although the fare was 3.90 Euro per person, I will gladly pay for a taxi next time.

I am so sad and disappointed right now. I heard the this city is suppose to be a beautiful city but right now I really have a bad taste in my mouth. I just want to cry for the next 3 days until we board the Disney Magic.

Food for thought!

That poor woman!!!!!! When we went to Mexico last summer all the taxi drivers were yelling and pulling on us at the airport and it stressed me out and that wasn't half as bad as this story. YIKES.
A friend of mine got pick pocketed in Barcelona, they got their money and passports and it has continued to be a hassle for her because she's Australian and her she's being questioned by her embassy on whether she sold her passport or whether it was actually stolen.

We all make mistakes, did I ever tell you about the time I told the West Coast the results of DWTS??

Just a warning for all of us...:cool2:

I didn't get it....I'm destined to just be a first mate on this sailing and not a captain. I'd be a great captain.....maybe at the end I can be an honorary captain...

Penny - when you get yours - we'll do the ISLAND DANCE for you!

Oh boy ! I hope I didn't offend anyone by that. I just love ISLAND TIME. I wish I could be on it all the time! No hassles - no hurry! Just plain old fashioned good time.

Sound like a plan Penny? :)

If you're worried about offending me....no worries. I love a sense of humor and I'm rarely offended. My family is definitely on ISLAND TIME. And if I get one I think all the Americans have to do the Island Dance together. I'm glad it's back on this side. But we're all going to bed now.....sooooooooo you know what will happen.

Good night everyone, it's been fun.

;)

You told us that you'd let it slip but not to whom. Anyway, right after you posted I told you to go and put it in white and that gave you the idea to edit it which you promptly went and did. :thumbsup2

CONGRATS! party:

;) Ya know - Helen was braggin about having 12 pirate: earlier. :lmao:

We should forget the individual pirates and just start a list of USA vs. GB!:rotfl:

But if we go this route - we look sad and pitiful! :guilty:

Ok, I'm off..........the Brits will be back in two hours!!!:wave2:

Ok - Nite Nite :cloud9:

No problem - since I'm a insomniac I can usually stay up for a while plus - I'm on the West Coast so I'm still 3 hrs behind you guys!

Nitey Nite!

And I just realized that somewhere on the last 2 pages I just made my 1000th post! (OK - technically not all on this thread but I have the most on this one in the shortest amount of time so what the heck! This one pushed me over! )

Keep a close eye. By this afternoon they'll have added a ticket booth and will be charging the neighborhood kids 25 pounds to come in and play. :rolleyes1
Funny! Great display, though. :)

Hey Hey - none of that here - if you say something you have to explain! No fair cheating - .....ummm...speaking a private language. You know we don't speak English here - we speak Spanglish and other tongues but not proper English! Or is it the Queen's English? :confused3

Care to explain the difference anyone?

Sign me off as the poor little brown girl who speaks with an accent - but not yours! :rotfl2: (Although it only comes out when I'm angry!) ;)
Orale pues!

Joann we have a british Comedienne who does a wonderful skit of teenagers speaking one of her catch phrses is
' Is this a face whot looks bovvered'
Translated into the queens english it means I'm I at all bothered by what you think.
It's caught on amongst teens and their longsuffering parents over here.
My favourite version is
Wait let me look in my bovvered drawer,,(mime of opening a drawer),,,,oh sorry it's empty.
Of course we can do it back to the teens when they say if you don't give me a lift I'll be late

Does this look like a face that's bovvered!
I think I almost understand now.

Introducing........ Isabella( Izzie) and Mia Phelan!!!:cool1: :cool1:   :cheer2: :cheer2:

They are precious! We currently have four kitties: Diamond, Gracie, Bear, and Jean. But we have had many over the years. My favorite was a Seal Point, Queenie, who would come when I called, jumped in my arms when I whistled, and would follow me around the neighborhood at my heel, like a well-trained dog. She was the best cat I ever had. Enjoy your babies. :)

So are we but the more I read the blogs and podcasts - the more I'm wondering and then with Andrew saying he's going private - I have to wonder. I'm was scared too and wanted to do all Disney but those descriptions of high prices and windy roads 1/2 my party would be so   ! Then I'd be playing nursemaid to them and I'd be more like nursemad.

Oh why does my better half get soo sick? :sad2:
I think about private tours, but I am hoping Disney does a good job. Probably the only one I would REALLY like as a private tour would be Rome, and that would be if we didn't have to wait in line for the Vatican and the Coliseum.

Congratulations :)

I soooo totally agree with this one! I'm probably going to be one of those nuisance Americans that say - can't Disney do anything about the lines?

(Boy if they do - I'd so totally reform! I'd be a good Catholic girl from now on!)
