Every pirate is a little bit crazy. You, though, are more than just a little bit. Two things complete your pirate persona: style and swagger. Maybe a little too much swagger sometimes -- but who really cares? Arr!

Now to catch up on the 20 or so pages since last friday.

After I posted, I went and walked the dog...the weather has been so awesome. When I read the post about Sandra's sons friend....it brought back such memories.....I guess it overwhelmed me. The VA Tech shootings are so raw right now for so many of us here in VA. Everyday, we get mail from VA Tech (as Daniel will be a freshman in the fall), all about security and updates...so very sad.

Sorry!:grouphug:

Yesterday as well, on of my BF found out her 45 year old sister had passed, totally unexpected. She was crying so hard....so sad. I will be traveling to Fort Washington PA for the funeral on Sat. My PA friends...anyone close to this town?

Sorry again!:grouphug: (I'm 45...that's so shocking!)

Okay, this made me laugh...I haven't been smiling much, but you do crack me up with your competition!!

Too funny that night!!:dance3:

:surfweb:

Yes, I'm a fourth grade teacher and Lynn is a "headmistress."....Helen also teaches (I forget what grade?!):teacher:
Do you have the 4th grade state test pressure our 4th grade teachers have?
Another hot day here in Pennsylvania.......wish me luck :sad2: (no air at school!:confused3 ) We have 11.5 school days left around here....how about everyone else??:dance3: :yay: :teacher:
The classroom is very hot today- and its supposed to get worse tomorrow-
we have 16 days 1 hour left!!:cool1:  :woohoo: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:
Here in the Uk our kids are at school until July 20th, we are on half term break at the moment, the weather is awful so my kids are getting bored because they can't play out. We are going to do some baking which is nice to do but not good for the hips because then we have to eat what we make
Do you have 2 parts to your school year with a big break between? Do you have a summer vacation as we do in US? We do not go back until after Sept.5th
Here is something fun....find your pirate name!!

www.piratequiz.com

Here's me.....

Red Prudentilla Vane

Passion is a big part of your life, which makes sense for a pirate. You tend to blend into the background occaisionally, but that's okay, because it's much easier to sneak up on people and disembowel them that way. Arr!

That was fun !!
I am RED ANNE KIDD- PASSION IS A BIG PART OF YOUR LIFE, WHICH MAKES SENSE FOR A PIRATE. EVEN THOUGH YOU'RE NOT ALWAYS THE TRADITIONAL SWAGGERING GALLANT, YOUR STEADINESS AND PLANNING MAKE YOU A FINE, RELIABLE PIRATE. ARR!

:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :lmao: :lmao:
Here's mine:

Your pirate name is:
Dirty Jenny Rackham

You're the pirate everyone else wants to throw in the ocean -- not to get rid of you, you understand; just to get rid of the smell. You have the good fortune of having a good name, since Rackham (pronounced RACKem, not rack-ham) is one of the coolest sounding surnames for a pirate. Arr!

Lanyard Status 5/22:
Still taking orders and payments.
I have the lanyard design. Once I get people's payments, I place the order.
DCL called and said they can't give permission in writing for our design, but its a case of "don't ask, don't tell", "we never had this conversation", no hassles as long as we are not selling and its for personal use.

ORDER INFORMATION:
Since this is a two color lanyard, the cost will be $2.43 per lanyard
Each lanyard comes with a badge holder which is $0.20 each
So I need a total of $2.63 for each lanyard
Add $1 for each reel. I'm thinking of ordering the black reel to go with the black lanyard. Sound Ok with everyone?????
So the total for a lanyard with reel is $3.63.

Timeline: Would like to get the lanyard order in before June 15th latest. Which means I need everyone's payment prior. Anyone else who wants to order, please post and let me know. Payment info is below.

Payment: I can take paypal payments (basic account, not the premier account) at kylarice at worldnet.att.net. If you don't have paypal, I will take a check. For the UK people who don't have paypal, just pay when you pick up your lanyards, under the table please. Please pm me for my address to send the checks to. Please include your DIS forum name with any payment, so I know who you are.
Update: Ok, on the paypal payment, some of you are sending me are OK and some are using their premier account. I have a personal account (basic) and while it does allow me to accept payments from folks with premier accounts it charges me a fee to accept plus it limits the number of payments I can accept to a total of 5 for the year. So, if you are unsure, go ahead and try sending me a payment via paypal and if it kicks back as denied, then you know that you have a premier account and I just denied it. Then you will need to send me a check. Pm me and I will give you my address.

Design E is the Winner!

It comes with a badge holder: http://www.kennyproducts.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=KPI&Product_Code=372
To add a badge reel http://www.kennyproducts.com/Mercha...en=PROD&Store_Code=KPI&Product_Code=425-blank, will be another $1 per badge reel.
I was thinking of ordering once I get everyone's payment and bringing them to Barcelona or the DIS meetup to pass out.

I posted this on the previous page, but in case you haven't seen. Some people were confused on how things attach together. Hopefully, this will clear it up:
113321pic1-thumb.jpg
Here is the lanyard with the badge holder (except ours will be vertical)
113321424_front-thumb.jpg
Here is the lanyard with badge reel (except ours will come as two pieces: a lanyard with J hook (as shown in the above pic). Each badge reels has a belt clip in back. The J hook hooks on the belt clip of the badge reel. See the little tab on the badge reel? That will snap onto the top of the badge holder. The badge holder will hold your Key to the World card. The badge reel is not heavy duty. It is a light string and is made to hold the weight of your badge holder.

Let me Know if anyone wanted red color badge reels. Otherwise, you will get a black color badge reel.

Yes only 70 posts to go..............:scared1:

Do you have the 4th grade state test pressure our 4th grade teachers have?

We do but our testing is in March........we can only hope.....:confused3

The classroom is very hot today- and its supposed to get worse tomorrow-
we have 16 days 1 hour left!!:cool1:  :woohoo: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: But who's counting!!:rotfl2:

Do you have 2 parts to your school year with a big break between? Do you have a summer vacation as we do in US? We do not go back until after Sept.5th We get a few breaks during the school year (one week off at Christmas and Easter) and then about 10 weeks off in the summer.......we don't have air conditioning and this year the faculty room's air is broken so the last few weeks can be very tough!!:headache:

That was fun !!

I have to redo mine....too funny!!

Did anyone figure out the 3 signed documents we are suppose to bring for checkin? someone in their trip reports said with online checkin there are 3 documents we are suppose to bring. I only remember the cruise contract. Guess I'll have to go check.

Geez, not much live reporting going on. I think everyone is blogging. unless I'm reading the wrong thread.

did anyone see how people's luggage were getting picked up and transferred to the Magic? Someone mentioned that it was being picked up at 8am. but didn't mention if they were leaving luggage in the hallway, taking it down to the Disney desk (my preferred method), or waiting in their room for someone to come knock on their door to collect luggage. Ok, I'm getting way too deep into this, I can see.

I'm a teacher too! Right now I'm a stay at home mom.. but will go back when the girls are a little older and hubby not deploying every 6 months!

I taught special ed in jr high in Texas at our last duty station and they got out May 26th and went back mid-August. I was going to say, in Sicily here.. the local kids I think get out of school at like 1pm .. but they go on Saturday's too! how's that for a weekend ;) blah!!

Chocolate smoothies? where?

Well, it's been a few years since I cruised - but on that one and everyone before that you could order chocolate smoothies as a "bar drink" pretty much anywhere on deck 9 or any of the bars. Non alcoholic, of course.

Dan

Mental note - left off on page 291

:lmao: regular reports please over the weekend as to who has the upper hand

So - this is how the painting went this weekend (which is why i am just now getting onto the boards)

After working long days all week, DH calls me on Friday to say that things are not going as well as he would like, and he will be working very late Fri night, and all weekend. :woohoo: OK - so i didn't really want to be w/o him, but if he's not here, he can't stop me!
So directly after baseball practice I went to the store, bought the paint and started on the bathroom. I decided to get fancy with it and do some ragging, so it took up most of saturday too. Spent some time with the kids, and a friend, took them to see Pirates, bought a new BBQ, assembled it. Mowed the lawns, cleaned the house, etc. Pretty busy weekend.

Romans wore togas
Greeks wore Chitons the ch is sounded sh and causes much mirth amongst my 11 year old students when they are studying the greeks!

I knew there was a difference, but couldn't remember how it went. thanks for the info.

Who else wanted red color reels beside Laura? I can't remember or find my notes on that. Please let me know.

Any color is fine by me.

Ok, I just caught up from today...........we had "Field Day" at school so I couldn't stop by...........however, I'll see you all from my computer in New Jersey (near the "rents!") When I fix my digital......I'll post our family shots on......see you all soon!!!!!!!!!:goodvibes

We are doing field days this week, in fact, I have to get up to the school here in an hour to help.

Hi all,
Checking in for the day. I'll be around the weekend, have too much to do before our trip.
As to the Jetlag - we communted between London and Boston every second week for about 2 years before our actual move to the USA. My DH never get Jetlag and would arrive into Boston or London and go straight from the airport into the office. My DD (who still travels between the USA (home) and London (College)) and I have the same problem which is on the UK/European end).
UK/Europe to Boston, would be fine - just a long day and we would stay awake until bed time and quickly get into the MA, USA timezone.
However the USA to UK trips are the worst for us. We always end up leaving the USA at night as most Transatlantic flights do, which is actually early hours of the morning in Europe so by the time you arrive at your destination you may have been able to get a few hours sleep if you're lucky. What we try and do now is as soon as we're on the plane and settled is to get to sleep ASAP and when arriving into Europe try not to have a nap until bed time - which tends to be very difficult. We found that once we napped we would end up being competely out of time with the timezone and would go to bed at 4am and only wake up at lunch time.
We also set our watches to the destination time as soon as we board the plane.
I've never tried any tablets and we have managed to get through the commuting.
Hope the info helps.
Charmaine

Thanks for the info on going to the UK. Our flight leaves in the evening, when it will be around 1 in the morning in London. So our plan is to sleep right away. Once we get into London, we will stay awake because it will be day time there and for our flight into BCN.

HI Everyone... I'm not getting off this glow necklace thing.. here is a link to the Oriental Trading Website- it has all sorts of party items- I just want you to see what they are in case you dont know what Im talking about.
http://www.orientaltrading.com/appl...t=link.itemDetails&sku=24/8003&tabId=Everyday
If you have a discount store- they usually sell them there- if you have a Dollar Tree, they have them for 25 cents... It will be really easy, and so much fun, to spot each other at dinner or at the fountain, or on sail away night!... if you dont go along with this... I will be forced to suggest very bright, embarrassing tee shirts... dont let me go there.. and they will probably be part polyester... hot flash material for sure !!!!!!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I like this idea - looked like we kept going back and forth on color. Last post I saw said green - I'll have to keep reading to see if that as made final.

Sallie,

The glow necklaces are a good idea. I'm all for it, but I'm sure DH won't like it. I know he'll go with the flow. He is good about that (poor guy):lmao: .

I've never scapbooked. I'm just not very creative. I love to look at them though. It facinates me how artistic some people are. God missed me with any of the Arts :sad2:

I know what you mean, my DH thinks i am crazy. But he'll do what I say and meet new people.

I like to scrapbook, but never have the time. There are days when i really wish I was a stay-at-home-mom. And not so that I could be with my kids more, because I pick them up from school anyways. It's just so that during the day instead of work work, I could do what I want to do. Like paint bathrooms :rolleyes1

Are we all supposed to get the same color glow neckaces? Please let me know. We have Ocean State Job Lot and they usually have the necklaces available. Oriental Trading is great but you have to buy lots of them and the shipping can be high.

Don't know if I'll get DH to wear one but we'll see.:)

Let me just say that these things are great. You can pass them out at halloween, give them away as little gifts to the kids for being good, etc. Also, I read where someone thought they would last for 18 hours. I have never gotten one of the necklaces to last for more than 6 hours. What I am thinking is that i will buy them in bulk, then I can use them while on our cruise. It can be a good way for the kids to spot me.

Great concept......wearing the glo necklaces on Sailaway....let's do that!! Also, if we all can somehow post our pics before we depart, that would probably help too..................so our plan is.....wear glo necklaces on the Sailaway party and............post our pics in the next few weeks!!:dance3:

I'll try to get our pics posted, but my DH was adding a new card to my son's computer and shorted the motherboard. He needs to move that hard drive into our other son's computer so I can get all the pics off of it, or he needs to just get a new motherboard.
Maybe i will just rescan the picture, might be faster. (of course, starting the job and then asking for help on how to finish it always gets him moving...)

Let's go for lime green or yellow as our color............

I like blue myself, but lime green works well too.

are we the only ones not on vacation?:sad1:

I wasn't on vacation, but I was too busy to be posting.

i went to see pirates this morning.pirate: i enjoyed it. i also starting packing for a little cruise that i'm taking:rolleyes1 and took my dogs to the dogpark. i live such an exciting life.

How did you like it? We loved it, can't wait to take DH to see it now.

Well just got back from the party - the girl had fun but I will let you know tomorrow if my hearing comes back. Is it a sign that you;ve turned into your parents when the music is too loud? :rotfl2: :lmao:

You know - that is exactly how I feel now. I hear myself saying all the time, "it's to loud'.

There is an incredible story on the May 26th thread about DISers who lost their passport while they were buying Starbucks on their journey to the Med cruise.....they couldn't find their passport until it was too late and NOW THEY'LL BE ON OUR CRUISE!! Good warning for all of us to be careful with our documentation (especially passports) while we are packing and traveling....:scared:

That was sooo sad, but had a happy ending.

Hi Everyone. DisneySpirit here. We missed our cruise to the Med on 5/26 because of a lost passport while traveling to Barcelona. For the gorey details read our trip report for the current 5/26 Magic Med cruise. But, the good news is we will be joining all of you now instead. We don't know our room # as yet but have a Cat 6 guaranteed (Deluxe stateroom with verandah) We want to fly out a day earlier this time so could sure use some hotel suggestions for Barcelona.
Looking forward to meeting all of you!

DisneySpirit

Tom (56) Lynn (55)

Welcome Welcome Welcome.

So sorry you had such a rough trip, but so happy you are joining us.

:
Hey Tom and Lynn - I know we have met but please post a picture so that I can remember what you look like? Some of us have been posting pictures of ourselves and our pets so feel free to jump in. UHHHH - OK - Feel free to post! (I have to be careful what I say around here - sometimes people follow my rantings!) Carrie

:rotfl2: What else can i say? :rotfl2:

Anyway, I was going to say that I just noticed your post count - we must get you more 'chatty' as our friends across the pond are fond of telling us. Last weekend, I told Aurora1959 to just "jump in" and well, let's say that about 4 days later - she hit over 100 posts. My earlier reference to watch what I rant was in reference to that.

Yep - went from earning my ears to a mouseketeer.

More West Coasters..............:grouphug: :cheer2:

West coast is best! Ok, so I really can't say that, I've never been to the east coast. It's on my list of things to do, but hasn't happened yet. Keep flying right over it.

OK here's the kids! Nala 12 (Brown & White) Spirit 5 (White) & Mystic 2 (Black & White. All are Siberians with blue eyes.
Huskies.jpg

They are so adorable. I love them.

we are cruising too. generally don't post much but i have been reading what everyone is saying. me - 43, husband 43, daughter 11, son 14 and coolest mother-in-law in the world - no age necessary! The girls are in 6088 and the boys are slumming it in 6087 across the hall (inside stateroom). we have tried and tried to get a cat 3 - booked when they opened the lines on the first day but apparently we didn't have enough pixie dust. guess we won't have to listen to deck parties and maintenance people pushing chairs around at 4 am. concierge rooms are right under the pools. hopefully they will fix this on the new ships.

Welcome - we are on deck 6 too, welcome to our party.

how many posts until i am a mouseketeer?

I think it happened for me after 80.

OK - well there are a ton more pages to read. And a sports fest that I need to help on. I'm a little worried about my youngest son. Yesterday while watching a movie at school, with nothing in his mouth, he started choking. Teacher said he turned blue and wasn't breathing. :scared1: Needless to say, I flew at about 80 mph the 35 miles it is from work to home. I even passed a cop on the way, didn't even care. He's fine, I actually think he choked on his own saliva. But, I want to be close to home anyway. I didn't tell him that was why I was staying home today, no need to panic him. So, I'm off to the school. I'll catch up again later. Another 30 or 40 pages to read.

Still checking my reservations everyday to see if assignments have been made yet.

Bellelinus - lucky dog

Don and Anna

Welcome Dan and Anna (and our other new friends)! I pop in and out on the boards and there is way too much that's been said in the last four days for me to try to ketchup on right now.

But I did see that you taught design. Super. I've been working on a banner for our sig lines, but keep coming up blank. Wanna give it a shot?

I'll check in later if I can.
