And the couple of ounces curl, hand exercises while signing the tab, oh and waving the waitress over probably works the bat wings that sprouted from my arms this past winter.

(oh my gosh, I've become my mother!!)

:lmao: :lmao:
So the bigger the drink the more good we're doing ourselves, right?:woohoo:

Finally caught up- I'm definitely slow....
Off to the gym now to improve stamina.
Making room for BBCs got nothing to do with it.

Ok I finally feel like summer is here. I just officially switched the winter clothes for summer:banana:

Of course that means more:laundy:

IT also means the cruise is much closer. I'm getting so excited.

Leslie,
Sorry, I didn't mean to confuse you. It was my husband who bought the wines for me for Mother's Day. These wines were listed in some of the Disney literature as wines that have been specially selected to be served on the Med Cruise. So we wanted to try them before we go.

I don't know which wines are on the package. We love wine but wouldn't drink a bottle per night so we just try different wines usually at dinner.

Sandra

Got it - thanks for explaining it to me!

:lmao: :lmao:

Exactly!!:cool1: :rotfl2: :thumbsup2 :cool1: :rotfl2: :thumbsup2

Does anyone remember which page or post # has the link for the new banner. I finally have a few minutes and I wanted to try to print it and now I can't find it?

Does any one know if there are any copyright issues with the banner? WHen I mentioned the t shirt Idea DH about that.

When it comes to copyright issues on the shirt, as long as we are not selling to make a profit, or to other people, i think we are ok. Especially if we just leave it to each person to do their own with iron-ons. There is a website where you can upload your own image and make products with it on it, if we go that route, they might frown on it.

Looks like a great site - is your dress really from here?

I was the one that posted the link to Pendragon - I think it got messed up in another quote. But yes - I have 5 outfits, and 4 of them are from Pendragon. If you look at the Juliet, I have that in black suede and a white fabric. I also have the Desree bodice in black suede with a green skirt to match DH's outfit that he has from them. my other bodices are just basic ones in various fabrics. The one I was thinking of though was the sea queen - that would make a fine pirate outfit.

The only thing is that their outfits are in layers, and the leather is very hot. When we are doing renfaire's around here and the weather is above 85-90, I don't dress in those. I go with another simple skirt and a simple bodice from them. Or I just wear street clothes. They tend to do a pretty good job replicating an old english village, however, they just can't seem to get the english weather right.

I thought I had such a good idea last night and told dh beginning July 1 we should set our clocks up 6 hours and pretend we were on vacation!!:rotfl2: I don't know why, but he just didn't seem to want to play along with it. :rolleyes1 Sounded liked fun to me. It might beat jet lag!!:headache:

Well, at least I got up earl two days in a row:yay: I am starting my get in condiion for vacation mode!!!!! I EVEN DID :laundy: YESTERDAY!!!

I love this idea - too bad my work schedule wont allow it.

too soon!!!

Congrats. pirate:

Does "earning my ears" count?
If so DH will be impressed- it's a long time since I earned anything

Maybe we could start an Adopt a Tag scheme for those sadly lacking.....??
Bit like sponsoring an animal at the zoo, but funnier and less cash involved?

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Of course it does - and you just wait - if you keep on here I am sure the tag fairy will come.

I have heard about it on other ships in the past and not paid too much attention but when I heard about it on a ship we plan to go on I started listening. From what I can gather, it can be on any ship or place where there are lots of people in a closed environment, (like school, or hospitals, etc..). IT seems to be particularly nasty and results in being quarantined in your room. Although most people seem to say they didn't feel like going out or eating anyway. But all cabinmates are also quarantined as well.

I know on Disney they are very cautious and have hand cleaner everywhere. Does it happen on Disney and we just haven't heard about it or is there someting to do with the employees and cleaning and maintenance policies.

Just Curious,
Sandra
The Magic had a virus outbreak years ago and they have increased their use of hand wipes, etc.. The ship was always very clean but now it's just better! I think there's always a fear of these outbreaks in the winter months but I don't let it stop me!

I can't believe I got the pirate, I had posted too early and got the 6999 post so I thought I had no chance.........miracles do happen!pirate: Always fun chatting.......now back to work!!:teacher:
I was on the Magic a few weeks after an outbreak. We were watching the situation very closely. When the first outbreak was reported the ship did some extra cleaning but the next cruise there was another outbreak. So DCL docked the Magic for 3 days to do cleaning. After that, there didn't seem to be any more problems that we were aware of. When we arrived just a couple of weeks later, DCL had signs up everywhere at checkin stating that if you are currently sick, please do not board the ship. Once on ship, they would not let anyone touch any utensil at the buffet line. They had servers that manned the buffet line so that the only thing you touched was your own plate. At dinner, they did not put out salt and pepper shakers and I think spoons. Not sure why the spoons. Anyway, towards the end of the cruise, everything relaxed, the servers went away. I guess they figured the risk was minimal by then.

This is why we like Disney - they take charge of the situation and go. I have heard on other cruise ships, that aside from cleaning a few things, life goes on as normal. The problem is that normal is what caused the outbreak.

I personally don't like buffets because of the germs. We were in the Storytellers cafe for dinner, when I saw a kid that was clearly sick, getting their own food at the buffet. I said 'tonight we order off the menu - no objections'.

The potential for a problem is why I am also bringing with me some lysol wipes. I understand they do a decent job at cleaning between guests, but I can't expect them to thoroughly cleanse the whole boat. So for some areas that I know will be prone, I will wipe them down. However, I did find a pretty good list of the areas that are commonly missed by housekeeping, which spread germs. It says you need to use enough to make it look wet, and then let it dry. Otherwise you aren't killing the germs. And if your family has an outbreak, quarantine yourselves in your room, and keep up on the cleaning. (If you can)

Here is the list - not all things will be applicable, but you get the idea
  • guardrails on the verandah
  • sink faucets
  • all door handles and knobs
  • remote controls
  • TV buttons
  • phone
  • ink pens
  • menu book
  • iron
  • coffee pot (handles, etc)
  • refrigerator
  • microwave
  • safe

It also said there was some concern over the comforters on the beds, but that the jury was still out on this being a real concern. Essentially what the theory is that when you checkout, they don’t change the comforter. They change the sheets only. And that if people were sick and sneezing in your hotel room, then the germs could be on the comforters. What they recommended was to not lie down on the bed, without first pulling back that comforter. That way if there are germs from the previous guest, you don't pick them up. Especially for babies those are likely to lie on the bed and put their mouths on it.

Now - my first thought is this. What if the person before you did the same thing? And then they sneezed? If there is a blanket there, I doubt it was getting washed too. So isn't it likely that the germs are there? Or are we supposed to pull it back to the sheets?

Anyways - it was some useful tips. I'll be bringing some wipes, just in case I need them. Not sure I will actually do a thorough cleaning on my cabin once I get there. The whole point is to relax after all.

When I talked to DCL, they said that if you are making the item at home that they are not worried about copyright issues. Because obviously you are doing it for personal use. So I would think that if everyone made their own Tshirts that is really darn safe.

Good list. thats what I've seen before. I just recently heard about the bed cover issue. I have dogs and when I bring them to a hotel, I usually get the dog room, I think. The hotels I've been at say they wash the bed covers after dogs have been in the room due to allery reasons. Wonder if that applies to people who have been in before me? Anyway, we usually bring a sheet or something to cover the furniture and bed when we have dogs so as not to make everything hairy, and usually our dogs have a bath before traveling, so they are clean.
ETA: Speaking of hotel furniture, I often think these are far dirtier. They usually a stain here or there.

HI,
We've never gone to the Pirate's Deck Party. It has always seemed crowded and very loud. So I didn't know that people actually wear costumes. Do a lot of people dress up?

Lanyard Update: 6/7

I'm talking to the vendor and was thinking of ordering the smaller badge holder just to make sure the key card can't fall out. However, I found out that the smaller one will probably not work for us because of the way it attaches to the lanyard. The vendor is sending me a sample to show me and another sample of a horizontal badge holder of a size closer to the key card than the original vertical badge holder I was looking at. Anyway, if the key card will fit snug in the horizontal badge holder will anyone have an objection to that? or would you prefer to stick to the vertical badge holder? The vertical badge holder has about 1/2" extra width than the key card. But its vertical. The name card might make it fit more securely or might make it slip out more easily if its very glossy and slick. also on the horizontal badge holder, the name card may fit names better with larger print than you would get with the vertical badge holder. let me know your thoughts. Ciao!

You are awesome Jeanne!!

I agree that the horizontal might be a better idea. It gives more room for the names and as long as the opening is still at the top (side? you know what I mean) then we should be fine.

But, I leave it up to you once you have received them - see what you think.

Let's not forget all the pirate frenzy, now we're all gaining weight, live in dirty houses, are jobs are in jeopardy, why? SO WE CAN GET A PIRATE!!!!!!!!!! Who should we blame?:confused3 pirate: :sad2:

Actually someone else asked a question that started it, for a post ending in '00, I was asked, Do I get anything for this????

Don't get so defensive, Andrew . . . Bialystock is a man, not a woman, yet I was using him as an example of what my accent is not . . . really makes one wonder what is behind all this protestation, obsession with sword and banner size, etc. Hmmmmm.

To appease your wounded ego, I could accuse you of sounding with Eliza's dad -- what was his name, anyway? Charming accent he had, too.

More like Henry Higgins

This time tomorrow I wil be on Explorer of the Seas . . . fairly close to muster drill time, I believe. We sail away at 5, and apparently almost clip the underside of the Verrazano bridge as we head out past the Statue of the Liberty. I've never been to Bermuda, so hope the weather is good, then St. Martin, St. Thomas, San Juan, 4 days at sea, back June 17. I'll be sure to try the rock climbing wall and ice skating!
