Thanks for creating the thread. We'll be checking into the Disneyland Hotel on July 21 and will be leaving on July 26. Our park days are the 22nd, 23rd, 24th, and 25th.

In case anyone's planning ahead, here was last year's July 4th schedule (subject to change this year of course).

July 4th at Disneyland Resort

• 12:45 pm 1st Marine Division Band from Camp Pendleton at California Adventure
• 4:15 pm Flag Retreat with the 1st Marine Division Band from Camp Pendleton at Disneyland Park
• 9:30 pm - Celebrate America Fireworks at Disneyland Park
• 9:00 pm and 10:15 pm - July 4th tag before World of Color at California Adventure
• Special photo opp on Main Street (east side by bypass) with Celebrate America sign and Mickey and Minnie in patriotic outfits

Hi, looking at doing a trip this July - can’t decide on dates though, either thinking of doing 5-10 July or 26-31 July. Wanted to go early in the month so it’s not as hot. Which period do you think would be quieter?

I’m not an expert but I think the latter dates will be less busy than right after the 4th of July but

I agree. I frankly don't think it will make much of a difference what dates between the two options. Choose the dates that work best for you and go have a great time. Plan for crowds and be pleasantly surprised if they're lighter than you expected. July is a great month to visit no matter the dates!

Finally my adult DD and I are finally making the trip to DLR and DCA to bring my 83 year old mom. She has requested to see Small World and Haunted Mansion with no overlays.

We are going 7/9 through 7/13 and staying GCH and have 4 days in the parks.
Rented a wheelchair and an accessible room. She hasn’t been for 30 years and never has seen DCA. She’s super excited to go!

We went 2 years ago during the 4th of July and the weather was high 70's and lowest crowds I ever seen except during fireworks. My DH and I are going again this 4th and hoping it will be great again!

We're getting close! Dining opens up this Saturday morning for our arrival day! I guess some of you arriving on 7/1 might be starting as soon as Friday.

I'm still waiting to read reviews about some of the new 70th offerings like Plaza Inn PTN package and WOC new dessert party. I might book a couple of things to cancel after May 16th depending on feedback.

We are going July 21-25. Staying at Pixar place. We usually go in November over thanksgiving break but flights this year are crazy expensive. So we moved to summer to take advantage of the ticket special. A bit bummed to miss Xmas time (gone every year since 2008-and in 2020 went to WDW instead of DL). We have 3 park days. Should be fun. Looking forward to seeing the refreshed rooms at Pixar Place.

July 29 - August 2, staying at the most magical Disneyland Hotel. We were going to go later in the year but the NBC overlay is going up so EARLY, and we have one in our group who has never seen the OG Haunted Mansion, so July it is! The NBC overlay schedule needs to be pared back so it doesn't take up half a year!

Ohhhhhh, any speculations on when the HM might start getting the holiday overlay?

Think they might wait until after August 14th. (When the 70th anniversary special tickets offer goes through)?

It historically takes 3 weeks to install the overlay (or 18 days starting on a Monday opening on a Friday).

The first OBB is 8/17 in DCA and the start of Halloweentime is August 22nd. Assuming they want it ready for 8/22, not 8/17 (since OBB is not in DL), then I would expect HM to close on Monday, August 4th and re-open on Friday, August 22nd.

Is there a way for a member of my family to add a dining reservation I made for us to their plans on the app?

We tried manually adding to the other person's "my plans" on the website with the confirmation number and last name, but it said already linked to me.

We are WDW vets from the east coast taking our first trip to Disneyland and we are so excited! Staying at Disneyland Hotel 7/7-7/11. I know everything about WDW so trying to do all the research for DL!

You will love it! It's much more go with the flow, so try to not stress too much about pre-planning. Make sure to watch a few videos about LLMP at DL - it's much simpler and easier at DL (kind of like the old Genie+ at WDW but better). There's also far more rides per park at DLR which makes it easier to get lots of value out of LLMP (and lower standby waits for similar rides). LLSP is also really easy at DL - you can easily grab a time day of and they don't run out.

The main thing to pre-plan at 60 days is meals, but there's fewer table service options at DLR and lots of really great counter service. In terms of nighttime show planning, the package I most recommend you consider is a Fantasmic dining package. You get a good spot to watch the show and fireworks right after! PTN might be worth considering depending on reviews from May 16th and after (when the parade starts its summer run).

This is amazingly helpful info, thanks so much! We were thinking about a dinner package so that’s good to know. Dining in general is the part I’m struggling with the most. We are considering a character breakfast one day too!
