July 2015 Car Rental Code Watch...hoping there is not already one!

So come to find out we have these rewards points through our credit union. I would have enough that would cover our current rental of $210.00 so I think I am just going to go ahead and use them. We have enough to also get $200 in Disney Gift Cards, however, I am nervous that they would not arrive in time.

Now - I currently have the Midsize SUV booked - I can get that or I can get Standard (less reward points). Is it correct that there is no Standard category at MCO - so we would pick from Full Size aisle? Not sure if booking using the points we have to go to the counter (exactly what we will feel like doing at 11:00pm :sad2: but to save $210.00, I'm all in! :drive:). Is Full Size larger than the Mid Size SUV? It is just the 3 of us, and we will have 3 large suitcases plus a couple carry on's. We are just doing the split stay, so when we move we will have all that, plus a bunch of grocery bags.

Just looking for suggestions. Thanks!!!

Most likely you will only be able to fit two suitcases plus some smaller bags in the trunk of a full size car. Since there are only three people you have half of the back seat to use also. Any of the SUVs should accommodate your luggage. The downside is it will be fully visible so you will not want to stop and leave the vehicle unattended on your way to WDW. When you move, I would drop off my luggage at bell services if your room is not ready. Between the heat and the visibility factor, it will be much safer there. If you are staying at WDW hotel and flying on a participating airline, you can check your luggage at your resort when you leaving. That is really nice. You just have to take your carry on with you.

We have a CRV. I am able to put four suitcases and our carry on back there. Three of them are the max size allowed and the fourth is a decent size also. They are stacked to the ceiling but I get them in there. Most full size cars have trunk space of 14-16 cubic feet whole the smaller SUVs have about 35 cubic feet behind the back seat.

We are 17 days out and still hoping to bring my rental $$ down....I just checked using carrentalsavers and the reservation we need is now showing $200 more than I already have reserved. Yikes! I am soo glad I reserved when I did! I am at $213 and the price right now is showing $413!

Yes the prices have been astronomically high. They have not gone down since I first booked, which based on my past experience is abnormal. I have never rented in the summer before. I suppose this is why?

Not sure why the prices are so high. I booked a premium for 8 days on May 24th. It is $260 including tax. Now it is closer to $400. Crazy .

Late to the party here but could use some help. I am embarrased to say that in all my travels, I don't think I've ever rented a car. I just won a grand prize at a charity auction! We (DH, DS8, DD5 and me) are flying to Orlando for a week on July 31st. We are staying at Bluegreen's The Fountains Resort, which I understand is very south on International Drive and does not have a shuttle service to the airport.

I don't know where to start. Should I just pick up/drop off at the airport? Sounds the most convenient but we'd have to rent something large enough to hold the 4 of us plus our luggage. On the other hand, if we use a transportaton servicer to/from the airport we could rent a smaller car, but I don't know whether it is convenient to get a rental along south I-Drive or will even save money in the long run. DH and I would both want to be able to drive it, and our kids are too young to be left at the resort while we get picked up and taken to the ageny's office to sign, so I guess all 4 of us would have to make that trip on both arrival and departure day?

Also, any recommended providers? If it matters we booked our flights with Southwest and are Rapid Rewards members. We also hold the CapitalOne Venture Rewards Master Card and the Chase Disney Premier Visa Card.

Thanks in advance!!

Rates have been high the last few weeks. I like www.carrentalsavers.com. If you belong to Costco, try www.Costcotravel.com. Maybe your dates will be better than mine.

I got a mid size SUV back in March for 11 days at $276. Was hoping to get cheaper but no such luck - $513.00 is the price now through Dollar.

We just changed our minds from driving down to flying..now we have no rental for next week, as we need a minivan because we are 6, they are running $1400!! Any advice, they seem to be sold out at many place:guilty:

The best deals in Minivans seem to be at Undercovertourist.com. You have to buy something on the website to rent a vehicle but they have tickets for under $20. You can check the price after you add the ticket to the cart. If the price is not to your liking, you can can leave without buying anything.

4 day rental over July 4th weekend (7/3-7/6) out of TPA on Alamo using Orlando Magic card code 7016220 and free 1 class upgrade AU5224JAB for a standard size $113. I'd really prefer a small suv but not willing to pay double for that!

I did check there, thanks! The only cheaper offers are from the off site companies and I'm not willing to do that. Also, I really like to stick with National or Alamo so I can choose my car and accumulate loyalty points for future freebies.

Might be worth checking again. I dropped in TPA for 007/03-07/06, noon-noon. prices looked better than what you were getting.
