July 2013 car rentals

I'll be watching this thread for updates, because I'm not at all happy with the rates I just booked. I used the BJ's codes for Dollar:

Premium (Crown Victoria): 7/20 - 7/27 $324.16
Minivan (Dodge Caravan): 7/27 - 8/4 $458.78

We have some additional family arriving on the 27th, so I'm running back out to the airport to swap out the vehicles and pick them up. I'll have to sit at the airport for a few hours, because the rate was $34 higher with two extra hours on the turn-in of the first car.

Do your prices include all taxes & fees?

Here are some codes I have BCD Y937800 code MUPZ044 $40.00 off

SUV $332 and with taxes & fees $428
Minivan $368 and with taxes & fees $470!!!
this is for Budget!!

These prices are just too high!! hope they come down not sure if I should reserve one or not!!

Well about this time last year, i found my car rental deal. Now is the time for us to be diligent with our search for July deals. Rates are still EXTREMELY high right now. I am going to go look on the boards to see what type of deals the May and June travelers are getting. That should give us some idea of what to expect.
:thumbsup2

I totally agree, and I am going to do the same!:thumbsup2

what are you worried about the KLM code for? All you have to do is sign up for a free membership at KLM? I joined last year, easy peasy;)
...
Have you used this code before? Is there a link to it somewhere on KLM's website? Or some other reference to it being a valid code for any old Flying Blue member? I'm having trouble signing up for Flying Blue at the moment, so I can't poke around myself yet.

I just used it for a reservation (in combination with a $30 off BJ's coupon) for a 9-day Midsize rental staring 8/3 and got a total of $258.54. Given the best prices I'm getting with my usual suspects, that seems too good to be true - at this time, anyway.

I got burned when I tried to use a code at Alamo that was intended for foreign visitors.

The big red flag to me is this (from the reservation I made):
Loss Damage Waiver Full: Included
Supplemental Liability Insurance: Included

My experience is limited, but I've only seen that with codes for employees of a company with special contract with the rental company or foreign visitors (perhaps via a travel agency with a special agreement with the company).

I hate to reinforce FUD unnecessarily and I really do hope that this code is something that comes in the Flying Blue welcome packet or something like that.

Edited to add: I just found http://partnersearch.ehn.klm.com/us_en/partner.jsp?pid=275281&cid=273575&o=0&l=5&p=3&eb=all

Seems legit - but that included LDW just for being a member of their FF program seems crazy to me!

Hi Brett, you got to do what is best for you. I am not going to convince you of anything.
I do have a suggestion, read everything you can about the KLM code on this board. Start here
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2878667&highlight=klm

Then do a search on this forum for KLM and then make the decision that is best for your family.

Honestly, I booked KLM last year early on, but as I got closer to the trip...the rates went down...down...down and ended up not using National but Alamo.

Knowledge is power:thumbsup2

Uggh, now back to me:rolleyes: I just had to change my dates so I had to cancel my 16 minivan for 650. tried using the same code for my new dates and it was about 1500:crazy2::badpc::crazy2: so even though, I know the rates will go down...I want that placeholder ressie that I can live with...just in case:lmao::rolleyes::lmao: so the chase is on!

I have a question about KLM codes. We signed up last year but didn't use it.
Do you need physical proof that you are a member? We are getting their emails.
Right now I have a Midsized SUV through National for 7/16 -7/31 for 532.05 with KLM
Just started looking today

I checked and 2-3 companies have lowered their minivan rates to $285/wk base rate. This is down from $500+ when checking a few months ago. With taxes only about $350-$370. Check out Dollar and Thrifty, after they have an special Orlando hot rate of $266/base, making it about $350. They charge for add'l drivers of $11/day, which I didn't know, so add another $70 or so if there will be 2 drivers.

how do you get the Orlando hot rate?
thanks!

It was on their website (both Dollar and Thrifty, but I think Thrifty actually called it the "hot rate". It was flashing in yellow after I got my quote, so I clicked it and got a few more dollars taken off.

Enterprise for $350 total with the taxes also (this is for July 1-8). They don't charge for add'l drivers other than your spouse (unlike Dollar which charges regardless).

what type of car for Enterprise? thanks!!

Just checked Dollar and no hot rates for July!!
maybe soon hopefully!

Dollar calls them "City Specials". When you get to the screen that prices out each of the different car categories, directly under "Lock Low and Go" is a button that says "city specials". Click on it and some rates will change. This is true for rentals out of MCO for July 17-24, the dates that I am going.

I have a rental with ALAMO for $178 total. I used the code 66777d and a VISA coupon for $30 off. The code does include the insurance. I have been surfing the other car rental threads to find some good/decent codes. I do think that it is too early to priceline a car, unless you can somehow cancel it if/when you find a better rate.

Where did you enter code for alamo at? I like the idea that you can drop it off near WDW and take ME back to the airport

thanks!

Do you need to show specific I.D with code 66777d as it is for a specific association?
I would be nervous that Alamo would not honor the rate if I could not produce the proper I.D required to use this code. The insurance coverage would also be void if you did not belong to the association that the code was for.
