That is really not good news for me. We're planning on visiting mid July, 3 kids and a 4 month old. I really hope it doesn't washout our trip. Couple of hours of rain middle of the day might be fine but if its going to go on for the entire day its not going to be worth it. We have family visiting us from another country as well.
It definitely won't wash out your trip. The summer rains in Florida are spectacular (heavy, intense rains, frequently with lots of lightning and thunder), but they are generally short-lived. As a PP mentioned, bring ponchos and a smile and you'll be fine. The summer rains are much better, in my opinion, than the cold, drizzly rain that can go on for hours, without amounting to much, during the winter months. Lastly, since most of the storms hit in the late afternoon, if your children are nappers, you may get lucky and have the rains coincide with their naps.
