July 2011 Check in Thread Post your travel dates and hotel here

Welcome to DISboards, Jynxed!

I got your info added to the list. We will be there the same time, but only your first three days.

We are going July 10 - 14 with a 2.5 month old! :scared1:

We have never travelled in the summer either. But this year our normal spring trip is being postponed due to our little one's arrival. Luckily we typically enjoy hot weather at DL - particularly the balmy evenings and late hours.

We are staying at VGC.

We are going to DL from July 16-20. We'll be staying at the Grand Californian.

This is our first DL trip. We will be at the Park Vue Inn 7/24-7/27 (unless a great rate comes out for DLH)

:hippie:

Sounds a bit challenging, but it could be no worse than when I took a one month old to Mammoth in Dec. You'll do fine and with staying at the Villas you will have a wonderful view while feeding the baby.

Got all your dates in the first post. The list is growing!

Disneylovers2000, your info is added to the first post.

Hey, Magic2000 is at the Park Vu Inn the same time your are. Cool. Maybe you will run into each other! have a great time planning for your trip.

Our family of 4 will be at Candy Cane July 10-14th!!! We have made annual roadtrips since 2001, but missed last year! Ready for another "annual" trip!:cool1:

Kat in WA you're added. A road trip! How exciting and I bet you can't wait to get going, since you missed last year. You have a great time getting the maps out and refreshing your memory of your route.

Do you have a favorite place to stop and eat on the way. When I was a kid, it was always Sambos. I always liked the tiger and I can remember the design of the menus to this day. Oh my, today it would be so not PC, I doubt there are any left.

Since we are coming from Washington, it takes us 18 hours. Since we started these roadtrips when the girls were little (they are now 17 and 20:scared1:), we have always left at 3:30 a.m. and drove 13 hours to Paterson, CA and stayed in the Via de Lago there. We then get up on Sunday morning and make it to an 11:30 lunch at In and Out in Valencia. We have the whole route down to a science and include pics at every rest stop we stop at. Quite a photo album over the years!!:rotfl: On the way home we drive straight through (get-home-itis!!). Enjoyed our cruise last year, but anxious to return "home."

We had a Sambos in a nearby town and both my husband and I remember eating there as kids. Still remember the murals on the walls!!:lmao:

A long haul, but so much fun and a wonderful way to develop family memories. You must have tons of the rest stops pictures that show how your girls have grown over the years.

I have eaten at the Valencia In N Out Burger. It is on the way to my mom's house in the San Fernando Valley (Yes, I was a Valley Girl). In N Out Burgers and Tommy's Burgers are my favorite. There is a Tommy's on the 5 also in Valencia. They are known for serving greasy chili burgers. Not good for the diet, they are sooo good.

Yes I have forgotten about the murals. Ahh good times, there were. I don't remember any of the food, just the way the restaurants looked like, the menus and now the murals. When I first moved to Ventura, I heard that the last one was in Santa Barbara (40 minutes up the coast from where I live). I just a web search and I found out the one in Santa Barbara is still in business! I think I might have to take a day trip up there and check it out. Here is their website Sambo's Restaurant if you want to check out the history.

Sambos and Farrells Ice Cream parlor are etched in my memory. Too bad my girls have never gotten to experience either. But family trips to DLand are a given for this family of Disney nuts.:woohoo:Youngest DD and I went to WDW in 2009 and it looks as though the four of us will be returning Summer of 2012 to celebrate youngest's graduation from highschool and oldest's graduation from college. :cloud9:What can I say...Disney is in our blood!!!!:rolleyes1

Farrells Ice Cream parlor! I remember Farrells. Used to be my pick as a child for a birthday celebration. Didi you have my childhood?? :lmao: Sambos, Farrells and Disneyland were a big part of my childhood. Like you, I'm left with Disneyland to bestow some very warm and fuzzy memories. Then again I have the Sambos up the coast to explore. We are big Disney fans, too. My DD(15) wants to celebrate her HS graduation with a stay at the GCH with some friends. I say, "Why not?"

What a great way to celebration two important milestones in your children's lives than a trip to WDW! You should have a great time. I'm going to have to keep that idea in mind!

We will be at CCI at the same time! :)

Growing up we used to drive up to Spokane almost every summer. We would leave about 6am and always eat our picnic lunch at the Shasta rest area. We would stay overnight somewhere in Oregon, make a stop at Multnoma Falls, and then continue on to Spokane.

Didn't Denny's buy out Sambos? The place near us that used to be Sambos turned into Denny's anyway. I remember eating there too as a child.

Another CCI-er here! We'll be there July 10th through the 16th. 104 days!!
