July 2011:Calling all planners-Post your dates & Resort

I didn't post earlier, because I was setting up a few patterns that I am going to use to make some stuff for DD.
So wish I could sew, my girls would be set!!

akhenaten - accidentally deleted the beginning of the post so can't quote, but your celebration is amazing, wonderful, and incredible. I am so glad you are all celebrating together. 1 year from tomorrow, I ran away from the world to the WORLD to take my mind off my first Father's Day without my Daddy. Tomorrow, I'm going to throw myself into my Master's work. He died of complications after having his only kidney removed due to cancer. CELEBRATE!!!!!!

I'm very sad today. Got home last night and opened what I thought was going to be our WDW tickets, and NO WDW tickets were in the package. Just the Sea World tickets were in there. On top of that, I got a couple fillings on Wednesday, and I've been having some troubles with them, been back to my dentist twice already, and am now on pain meds....yuck.
Dental pain is the worst! I am putting off a visit until after our trip, hope I don't regret it! So glad you got your tix straightened out!

I was making the packing list while I was distributing weight between bags last night :lmao: I only have a shirt and a pair of shorts to put in the bag's for the girls:thumbsup2
:scared1: I feel sooo behind! Good for you! Hope your eyes feel better ASAP!

No better way to forget about it. Disney is my happy place, I forget about everything else going on in my life..
Completely, totally, 200% agreed

TThe job is teaching English in Japan :woohoo: We would be there for 1.5 years ^_^
Sounds amazing! Best of luck!

I've actually just done the SMARTEST thing I can think of for this trip! After Hailey lost her GC that we got for her and I hadn't written down the information on the back of the card, I decided it was HIGH time I did for the remaining cards.
I also make copies of credit/debit cards, driver's licenses, and insurance cards. I lock them up in various places on our trip, just in case!

You see my insane brother is doing 2 trips to FL this year (actually it's not his fault, my sister couldn't get off to go during his first planned trip or else we would already be there!)...anyway...seems he got a little stuck in Orlando and had to ask my parents to wire some money! OOPS!!! Of course, right now I'm so in the intense planning a pageant that is to happen on July 9 that Disney is a million miles from my mind right now, other than my 14 year old asked "How many more days until Disney?"
Poor brother! Hope it all works out. Glad I'm not the only one that's not fully engrossed in planning, I get on the boards and feel so far behind. Trying to juggle 3 grad classes, 2 kids, and planning this trip is about to be the death of me!

We will be going from July 16th-23rd and staying off-site. My daughter has been asking me for weeks to post something on the board so here is our first ever post. This will be her first year riding the big roller coasters and wanted me to tell everyone that she is very excited :hyper:.
So sweet, I hope you have a WONDERFUL trip!

I won't be riding big roller coasters. Can I celebrate that? ;)

If you do, my DH will with you!

Just got new tires on the car & an alignment so one of the biggest "MUST DO" before our trip is now off the list! Woo Hoo!!! Less stress.
We're having a car crisis... We prefer to take SUV, more room to pack stuff, much more comfy. BUT, it's older, lots of miles, gas gauge is off, check engine light is on. No telling how much it would take to fix it! The other option is our VERY compact Kia Spectra, newer, great on gas, small on room.... We've done one trip in each and the SUV is much, much preferred for the 12 hour drive!

Tell me about it.... I just got laid off yesterday.....
So, so, so sorry! Hope it works out Monday!

I feel like I'm sitting around after the hurry up and now I'm just waiting. I got all my print out's done yesterday and laminated them, got more mousekeeping envelopes printed out (apparently I only had 4 done and I need 7) and cut but not glued (can't find any more glue sticks so I will be waiting for the kiddo's to bring theirs home from school)....
If you need something to do while you wait, i could use some help!

Congrats!!! This is my third year looking for a teaching job again ... I taught 5 years 2001-2006 then we moved overseas and I stayed at home with my daughter and had my son ... came back to the states in 2009 and still have not been able to find a job :( Very frustrating!
Hope something opens up for you soon, and you guys have so much to celebrate. Thanks for your sacrifices, in case I forget to tell you at AK on the 6th!

Is everyone going in July a teacher except me??
DH isn't. :)

Woo! We finally have a place to stay
I know that's a huge relief!

Lots of new July Diser's to :welcome: today. Think when July is over I will miss this thread, seems I check it everyday.Just received beautiful Disney Princess Costumes for the granddaughters to wear when they go to the BBB.
I hope they have a magical time!!!!

Our July 09 Board still gets revived from time to time - no reason this has to end when July does!
Usually when I get on to say - I MISS YOU GUYS! Although, this thread is MAMMOTH compared to the 09 thread! How are you hon? I never have time for FB anymore, I'm out of the loop

:yay::yay: I am not a teacher either! I am a chef. Took time off to help with my sisters family while my brother in law was sick, and once we get back from Disney I will be making plans to open my own place next year. In the meantime I will do some catering etc.:cheer2:
Dh's dream job! Very exciting!

Today 9 out of the 15 of us that are going on our trip (in 28 days I might add :cool1:) went "Group Disney Shopping" today. :rotfl2::rotfl

I have got to order DD some crocs ASAP!!!!! We will be there in 2 weeks! Running out of time. Thinking about ordering two sizes just to be safe, and sending back what doesn't fit!

"No Children Were Harmed in the Making of this Trip Report."?
Only if it's true when it's all said and done!

In order to start getting in the spirit for our trip (in 6 days!!!!), we watched something we DVR'd a couple of weeks ago on CNBC called "Walt: the Man Behind the Myth" on Thursday. It was so good and both DH and I ended up crying at the end when the talked about Walt dying.
Man, hate I missed that. Sounds great! We usually try to do a Disney movie of the day for a couple of weeks before the trip. Might be a good thing for the girls to do when I work!

hey everyone! I read everyday, and decided today to just get over it and take the time to post. I'm having a real crisis of thought, I have soooo much to get finished for my Master's Classes before we leave, and I have done next to nothing for the trip. When I do sit down and try to plan, i feel guilty for not doing schoolwork. When I'm doing schoolwork, I catch my mind wondering to all I need to do for our trip.

As I mentioned above, tomorrow's about just surviving the trip. Monday is going to be trying to write 3 papers, 2 more Tuesday, and then spend Wed. and Thursday on the trip prep.

We're getting closer!

Is everyone going in July a teacher except me??

So, I'm not.

But my mom is. My brother is. His wife is. We're celebrating my parents' 40th anniversary, so my mom has to be there. Thus, July!

(I prefer February! ;))

I wish there was a way to decorate doors, like on cruise ships (they're usual metal and, thus, magnetic). I'd love to hang a happy anniversary sign on my parents door, but I am NOT going to use tape or anything. Too bad glaring at it won't make a sign hang! I'm good at that!! :rotfl2:

We realized that we pretty much all needed new sneakers and time to break them in. So we headed out to Khol's since they were having a sale and we also had a 15% coupon.

We took advantage of the Kohl's sale and coupon today, too. Luggage, currently without holes! Unfortunately, that leaves us the suitcase that needs duct tape or the suitcase with the square wheel. :rotfl:

I said to my husband, last night, that I expect to be pain-free, walking, by the end of this upcoming week... but that I got the wheelchair because I'm really afraid of reinjury. I'm at 13 weeks since I got hurt and I don't want to do it again.

This morning, I said "That pain free comment? I forgot to take in to account the fact that I have an ibuprofen stream and not a blood stream." "Yeah, I wondered what you were talking about. You're not going to be pain free in a week." Some days, I wonder about where my head is!! ;)

Happy Father's Day to any of the men on our list!!

Sorry to hear that. It's tough in pa right now. We haven't made any changes yet for budgets. Just program cost cuts right now.

Jimi

The bad thing about TX is that most districts have to have their budgets in place by June-ish or so but the legislature (which only meets every two years) doesn't have to pass a budget until August. Plus, they can pass bills but not fund them.

It is very tough in PA. And, since we are a charter school we actually get our funding from districts all over the state. Sooooo... if they have cut backs, so do we. The school is doing a major restructuring. They created some new positions but elliminated some higher paying positions as a trade-off. I'm not too worried at this point. I think I'll be back mostly because they always underestimate the amount of teachers needed. However, I won't bank on it. Life is what it is. This wouldn't be the worse thing to come my way. :) Fortunately, as a math teacher, there do tend to be more math openings than say... History. lol.

I'm sorry if this topic is a downer to anyone. After a day of crying from the shock, I'm at peace with it. Who knows... something better may be coming into my life. Both my husband and I know that things will be just fine. :goodvibes

Plus... as of tomorrow... 2 WEEKS!! lol... we are slightly excited. Slightly is an underestimated term. ;) I keep reading more and more about POFQ and I KNOW I picked the right place for us.... AND I get to meet some of you great people and get a Dole Whip. Could life really get better? :grouphug:

Nurses are good :worship: My grandfather died last year after a long illness and the nurses in the hospital he was in were awesome with the whole family!
Sorry to hear about your grandfather.. glad to hear the nurses made a great impression!:goodvibes

I so agree!!!:thumbsup2

All nurses we dealt with were awesome men and women. The male nurse he had earlier in his care became a true family friend. He even came to the wake and sat with us.

Thanks for saying that --- I am not a teacher - but am a speech pathologist who now oversees the special education timelines and processes for Early Childhood Special Education (3, 4, and 5 yr olds) It's not patience that we have... it's appropriate expectations --- we know what to expect out of a typical (or delayed) ______ grader... this helps a lot - so that we anticipate those challenges ahead of time.

Speech pathologists rock, too :worship::worship: This is coming from the mom of a dd who has been in speech since age 4 (and probably will be until she's done with HS).

I'm excited. Tomorrow is Father's Day, which means it will be 30 days from my trip. One little month is all that is left. So.....one month from right now i'll prbably be unpacking and repacking the suitcases for the 40th time.

When can I start packing?

ok so I'm making 7 bags for the meet. And making the flag soon.

I'll post a pic as soon as I can.

:thumbsup2 Thanks for doing the flag!!!

We now have to get through a DVD about the parks and then another about the rebirth of Disney with "The Little Mermaid". I think it's called "Waking Sleeping Beauty". Plus last weekend, we watched "Lilo and Stitch" for the first time. This week, I'll be watching a few others I haven't seen yet: "Mulan", "The Incredibles" and a few others.

I wanted to cry watching the movie about Walt too - the end was so sad.....

Although it was 4 years ago (time goes by fast) that I spent 3 months in the hospital, I have all the appreciation for nurses and aides in the world!!! For about 5 weeks straight I laid in bed and was not able to get out, so nurses had to do EVERYTHING! And they did it in a way that made me feel special and very well taken care of. So, NURSES ROCK! Of course, there are tons of jobs (including stay at home mommies) that rock. I just have a special place for nurses. :)

Thanks. I really can't figure out the logic of a federal push to up educational expectations while some of the largest teacher lay offs are taking place across the nation. Did I miss something? :rotfl2:

I'm with ya on this. Although, one time I had asked a nurse to clean my spit pan. (I'll try not to be too gross). She didn't do a very good job, and I asked her if she could rinse it out. I was always very nice. She asked me if I could do it because vomit made her sick. I was like... well, I can't walk.... then I laughed and told her she was in the wrong profession. She said she could handle blood just not throw up? It still makes me laugh. :confused3 okay, sorry if that grossed you out... but dang it's funny! I hadn't been out of bed in over 5 weeks at that point.... how was I going to do anything? lol

On a much happier note....

2 weeks from tomorrow I'll be walking down Main St. USA!!!!!! Mickey, my love, I'm coming!!! :cloud9:

:dance3::dance3::dance3:

PA is a mess right now. The federal government may want to up education but PA did not get that message......

Usually when I get on to say - I MISS YOU GUYS! Although, this thread is MAMMOTH compared to the 09 thread! How are you hon? I never have time for FB anymore, I'm out of the loop

This has turned out to be a great July thread too! I am not on FB as much either these days, although have had some great discussions lately about a July 09 reunion one of these years! Hang in there with the school work - it WILL get done, and you WILL be in Disney soon!!!

Confession: I've never had a Dole Whip.

You need to correct that this trip!!!

I like this July thread so much I think we should all be going together at the same time.! Failing that, we could try to keep posting here or if that doesn't work (my fav option) we start a Facebook Group.

Who wants to do what...and who wants to slink away into the night when we are done here:rotfl2::rotfl2:

a FB group woulda been a good idea... is it too late - now that July is so close???

Are there other's who can't make it to the July 20 meet? but maybe wanna have a DISMEET on another day?? Mid July??

Anyone staying at CSR in July?? I think it would be fun just to hang out at the pool w/ the kids --- no offense, :flower3: but Park time is pretty precious to us -- and I'd love to hang out with people during our "down time".....;):hippie:

I am up for all of it, though Facebook is my usual hanging spot :) I feel invested in everyone here now :goodvibes

Me neither, which is why I planned a meet around it!!!!:rotfl:
 and YEAH for you planning it!

I had my first (and second ;) ) Dole Whip float last trip in September 2010. Ohhhh they were SO yummy and I cannot wait to have a few this trip... I figure I can have a few because my kiddos will surely steal some  My hubby is not a sweets guy so no worries on him stealing any of that yumminess!!!

Since I'm on FB more than I want to admit, I'd say I'm all for a FB group! Lots of cool people here. :)

Me neither, which is why I planned a meet around it!!!!:rotfl:

And a beautiful idea it was! Although, since that is my last full day, I will be having one before our meet for sure. But, since I love pineapple, I wouldn't be too surprised if I get one then too. :cool1:

The FB group is a great way to stay in touch long into the future after July.... or maybe not so long into the future, but you get the idea.

There are two other DisMeets going on. There is one on July 10 @2:00 in MK, and one on July 6 (I think) in AK. I think Tink put the times on the list on the first page with the ADRs.

I'll ride the confession boat with ya... neither have I. .. and i don't know if I'd like it...

Me neither, which is why I planned a meet around it!!!!:rotfl:

Dole whips are fantastic. If you like pineapple :) My dd wasn't a fan LOL

i would definitely start the FB group, if I can figure out how. I'll go on now and see what I can come up with and let you all know in a few minutes.
