July 2011:Calling all planners-Post your dates & Resort

Thanks for the input guys :) A short note about the sleeping picture. She did wake up after dinner and we did go see the Osborne lights, because it really was still early. I think by the time we were done eating it was around 6 or 6:30 pm. I am hoping this time when we go she manages to stay awake through dinner, because she missed all the fun stuff!:rotfl2::(

Must be something about 'Ohana and sleeping, as last year my DGD was falling asleep at the table, so I told her she could put her head down and sleep in the chair. Just as she did, they announced the coconut race, well she picked up her head and said 'race? a race? did someone say a race?' Well, she was up and off to the races!

Are we bringing a trinket for each family? If so what kind of things should we bring?

Count me in! It will be nice to meet you and I'm going to try to be a bit more active on these boards, so that you can get to know us.

It will be me, my DS and DGD 5, and my other DS will be joining us for three days.

Was just visiting my DGD at her home in NC, while we had a nice hotel room, she tells me, 'grammie, I like this hotel but I like the disney hotel better.' Well, it really made me laugh, as the disney hotel was the Polynesian! Yeah, I liked the disney hotel better too!

Berwick. (but don't spread that around, or let that taint your veiw of me :lmao:)

You?

Lol. That's pretty funny. U originally from berwick?

We are in old forge! Pizza capital. I've lived here all my life. Went away to college and said I wasn't coming back but once u are from old forge it's hard to leave! Lol

I haven't been in berwick in a long time.

U r going to like pofq. We have stayed there a bunch of times. When we go my wife and I are going to be coming off our 6 year anniversary. June we got married in.

Anyone else from nepa around here? I thought I saw another pa in someone's tag but can't remember now.

Last night we were at my cousin's wedding. It was held at a nice Italian resturant. The room was on the small side for the amount of guests so everyone was pretty much on top of one another. No big deal.

I was getting up to go get a picture of family and was bumped by another guest. I had my camera in my hand and dropped it on the floor.

So now you can guess it doesn't work. My unexpected mishap is now another thing I need to buy before my WDW trip.

I don't need anything too fancy, I nice point and shoot will be fine. I popped over to the photography board but they are more complex and expensive then I am willing to purchase.

Can anyone recommend their camera? I would be extremely grateful!

Thanks so much!

That is funny. My dd didn't wake up for anything, we were finally able to wake her up right before we left. She missed all the fun!

We had a little Canon, I don't remember the number, but it was an ELPH. Small and easy to use. I liked it for what it was. DD dropped it for the final time about 6 months ago. We ended up getting another Canon, the G10. It's bigger and heavier and probably not what you're looking for LOL

I've got a little Nikon Coolpix L22. I got it for $80 the day after Thanksgiving but you may be able to get it for about $100. I got the red one but they have blue and black as well. It uses AA batteries which I like because it means you can use regular batteries and not the expensive little special ones. It takes pretty good pictures and I like using it. I'm sorry about your camera.

I really like the Canon Powershot family the SD series, digital elphs... I have
an older model (bought back in 2007ish I think...)

I just bought my DD a kodak easyshare for her birthday but have not given it to her yet so not sure of the quality of it ... got good reviews though!
This is the exact one I got her... http://www.walmart.com/ip/Kodak-C195-Purple/14972628
Sorry you dropped yours :(

I am up for it :) But I am not sure WHAT to bring?! Any ideas?

Me too -- I think we decided PER FAMILY correct? (Looks like this is correct).

I haven't got a clue what to bring -- I'm trying to decide if it's something from my area specifically or Chicago (I'm not really IN the city).

My brother is in FL right now & he's already driving me crazy for this trip!!!

He sent me an e-mail asking me about the tickets (as if he hasn't known about this trip for HOW long now???? :confused3 :lmao:) That VIP tour for just my little family is looking better & better!!!! Then he is saying he may not make it until Monday -- DUDE!!! We have Crystal Palace planned for 15 people, I NEED to know if I need to adjust it! I don't think he realizes the planning that needs to go into this. These non-planners!! :rotfl:

I do know it's pretty hot down there right now at least according to him.

No one has the same reservations as me. In fact, I think they planned to not be anywhere I am. I'm starting to worry that when I show up for the July 10 Dismeet they will have secretly changed the time. No one wants coal, I guess.

:rotfl: I'm in the same boat - I have dinner at CP; someone else has breakfast. It's like two ships, passing in the night.

With the exception of the Wishes Dessert Party and I half expect my husband to go "naaaaah."

Sorry you dropped yours :(

I have an Easyshare as my point and shoot, as well. It does a really nice job for what I want it to do: take pictures. It's not super, indoors and in low-light, but so few cameras are! (I have a DSLR but there are times when all you need is a p&s! I'm probably taking it with me and leaving the DSLR at home!)

Question for the masses: my brother and I were looking at the fact that the MK is open until 2am one night. Is it really that crowded? I've never been to a park that late and while it sounds intriguing, we're both concerned it would be a total mob scene!

We are in different meets (I am going to the one on the 10th) so I am not sure what you guys decided! I am going to get a little something either military related (Ft Gordon in Augusta) or Masters related, since the Masters tournament is here ...

We are in Georgia and yes it is super hot and super humid ... it has not rained here (a good hard rain) in a while ... we need it badly!!!

I have dslrs also, and do plan to bring my less expensive one, but most of the time DH will be carrying it in his backpack ... we did the prepaid photopass so I will utilize that as much as possible!

I hope the Kodak is good for my DD! I am letting her bring it on the trip... she has one of those kiddie vtechs and she has way outgrown it ....

I am not sure at all ... we are going to try and stay as late as possible on one of the late EMH nights ... we leave disney the next morning and head to a hotel at sea world, so if we stay late we can sleep in and then have a lazy day at that hotel ... but my kids are little so I am not sure they will hang too long in the night ... we will play it by ear :)

That would be me..."carolfrompa". We live right outside of Philadelphia, but I am very familiar with Old Forge Pizza. I went to the University of Scranton or "da U" as the locals used to say. Small world!!

I have heard that those 2 and 3 AM EMHs are great. We enjoyed the night that ended at midnight ourselves because it was pretty empty after the second parade.

Just wanted to post the link to the tee shirts all finished :)

The t-shirts are great! Very cute. :)

Interesting. I went to school just outside of Philly. lol.... Langhorne area.

They are absolutely awesome! What I've found is that the later you can stay, the less crowded the EMHs become.

We were there for an hour and a half (normal closing that night was midnight and it was spring break week). We walked all the way to the loading area of POTC. We walked on to the Magic Carpets, which we had never ridden before. Peter Pan still had a 30 minute wait so we rode HM, Winnie the Pooh, Buzz Lightyear and Small World. Then, at 11:55 PM, we walked onto Peter Pan for our last ride of the night. And I think we saw Philharmagic once too. Most productive 90 minutes at MK ever.

I totally agree. And since we are night people... this is great. The one night the park is open until 1:00... so EMH are until 3:00!! I doubt we will be there that long, but it's still pretty awesome. :thumbsup2

We have the Canon PowerShot SD1200IS 10 MP Digital Camera and have great success with our pics. Bought it in 2009 from Amazon. My DS has one also. They take great pics of our granddaughter. We both have used it on vacations. It fits great in my DH pocket. Sorry you have to go thru the trouble of researching a camera before your trip.

We leave for our WDW trip July 21st. We are going with my DH, DS, DDIL and my granddaughter to celebrate her 2nd birthday. We are staying at the WL. Our favorite resort.
