July 2010 Check-In

Just saying hi!

I've stopped talking about the trip at home, I think I was starting to overwhelm my kids! So, now I'm hoping they don't think about it too much and I can do all the thinking for them!

I have started to note some off-site restaurants to eat at (we'll have a car) and have planned most of our San Diego/Carlsbad portion. I won a bid on Priceline for the Omni San Diego ($88/night) so we'll be doing 3 days in Carlsbad, 3 in San Diego, and 6 in Anaheim.

:)

It's official. We'll be there July 19-21. 2 nights in the Disneyland Hotel. I'm so excited. The rest of our trip we'll be in San Diego and I know some of you say, to end the trip with Disneyland, but we aren't. But I'm sure it will still be awesome!:cool1:

Getting you added now!

Still in the planning phases based on home things but we are planning to be there July 19th - 24th. Planning on staying GCH or DH. All the reading to decide between the two is killing me! :surfweb: I like a bit of luxury so GCH looks good, but have always wanted to stay at DH as well.

This is a special trip for 12y/o DD who is turning 13 early August. So early bday present. Also celebrating her successful recovery form major spine revision. Crossing fingers Dr oks the trip for her. Should be good.

Grandma is taking us down to celebrate. Would love to find others with kids her age to maybe get together with for a bit. She gets bored with just grown-ups. :rotfl2:

Touch choice between the DLH and GCH!! Yes, GCH is more luxurious and closer to the parks - it is my favorite! But I just recently stayed in one of the new rooms at the DLH (Dreams Tower) and was blown away! The new rooms have more of a luxury feel to them now - pillow top mattresses and triple sheeted linens - nice crisp cotton! But until the hotel is completely done, you can request a renovated room but there is no guarantee. DLH does have more "Disney" touches but your daughter is old enough she may enjoy the GCH more (my 14 yr old son prefers the GCH).

As far as finding other kids her age, a great place my son made friends is the pool! We travel a lot and he is an only child so made friends this way. Now, we do try to let him bring a friend if it is feasible. Any chance your DD could do that without changing the dynamics of the trip?

Whatever you decide, have a magical time!

We will be going back for our 2nd annual trip to DL July 6-11 staying at DLH. DH is going for the powerschool conference that is held on said dates and we are tagging along, again.

I seem to have forgotten all I had learned last year about DL so back to reading the boards.

I didn't know about the new towers, I will make sure to put in a request a new tower room.

I don't post much, but saw the July thread and wanted to say we are going to Disneyland July 14-22. My daughter's 12th birthday is July 17 so we will celebrate it there. We are going to do a day at Universal Studios, too. This will be our third trip in the last 3 years. We are staying at the Paradise Pier as we have the other 2 times. We are a family of 5:

Me (DW), DH, DD (11), DD (10), DD(10).

I love it there. The crowds don't bother me a bit because as soon as we leave home (we live in northern CA), I become the happiest person. Just something about DL makes me happy. We went last year for my 45th birthday in March. I wore a crown all day long. I don't think DD will wear it. Last pre-teen year. Scary.

I hope everyone has a great time. I can't wait. 68 days to go.

Yes, had been following the upgrade for DLH. One of the reasons I am wavering. :confused3 Of course because of different things here we can't book yet, which sucks. So it may also come down to what is available.

The pool idea is a great one! :) Wish she could bring a friend but this time around not really possible. In the future hope to do that though.

Thanks for the help and info. Much appreciated. :flower3:

Sorry, had another little tinker around with the dates and we are now staying at the HOJO from Wednesday 14 July, leaving on Sunday 18th, so if you could update the list that would be great! :cool1:

An FYI for anyone looking for HOJO enertainment dates! 4 new dates in July opened up today: 17, 18, 30 and 31. http://www.hojoanaheim.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=14

We're planning to visit DL from July 5th - 9th. Still haven't decided on hotels.

We're going to be there July 17th. My parents are taking my daughter the 15-17th, but my husband, step-dd and I will be using our GAD tix on the 17th only as that is my mom's 56th birthday and my daughter's 8th birthday. I think we may be crazy going on that day...we usually go in early December (got married at the DLH gazebo 12/7/97) so we are used to cooler weather and few crowds. The heat and the anniversary date might do me in, but I get teary eyed each time I think about celebrating the birthdays of my MOM and DAUGHTER on DISNEYLAND's actual birthday!
