July 2010 Big Bdays Family Reunion (Update 9/28 Final Thoughts)

Really? only 60?

Wow, at WDW you can do 180 days + 10 if you stay on-site.

Yeah, and if you want to do a tour you have to call only 30 days out from your trip. And on some places if you aren't on hold first thing in the morning you may not get an ADR.

That's odd...does Disney think people in California don't plan? I know you all are more laid back than us on the eastern half, but...

That may be it and it may the fact that it has only been in the last five years or so that there is more than one place where they actually accept ADRs. For the longest time the only place that did was the Blue Bayou, which I recommend strongly for at least all first timers. It is inside the Pirates of Caribbean and it is beautiful.

You mean there is a restaurant inside of Pirates of Caribbean?

How cool:3dglasses

Thanks for the pic

That is just like the restaurant inside the Gran Fiesta Ride in Mexico.

:goodvibes

I didn't know that one existed. But, that is like Disney, if an idea works they spread it around, like manure.

I made ADRs today -- woo hoo!! I got all my requests without any issues. I did them all on-line except the ones where all 10 of us are together, since I had to call those in.

7/12 Tusker House* 5pm (4)
7/13 Rose & Crown* 7:20pm (10)
7/14 Cape May Cafe 10am (4)
7/15 Teppan Edo* 6pm (6)
7/17 Kona 10:45am (6)
7/18 Play-n-Dine (Hollywood and Vine) 1pm (4)
7/19 Crystal Palace* 4:35pm (10)

* = new restaurants for me

sorry I missed your ADR update...

looks like you have a great mix of dinning options :thumbsup2

are you doing DDP this trip? I can't remember, I know you canceled it for the trip last Nov.

I know you're not a big WTP fan...but we dinned at CP for the first time, breakfast in '08 and really liked it, I thought the buffet was very good and the characters were great... I've also heard alot of cool things about Teppan Edo too.

good eats ahead!

We are going to try the Tables in Wonderland card this time. that's the one where you get 20% off for up to 10 people at TS. It costs $75 but we'll easily spend the $375 to break even, esp since my family will be joining us for some of those meals. We'll also use TiW for our trip next May 2011.

TiW is new to me so we'll see how we like it..but I'm thinking it'll be pretty good and allow more flexibility like ordering two appetizers and dessert for a meal instead of having to do an entree and of course we can get drinks (alcoholic or regular) at discount, too.

Yes, I've heard good things at CP and T.Edo so I am looking foward to them and I just know my girls will simply adore Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore and Piglet.

Marshay! I'm BACK! It's been too long. I found your PTR and I will be studying it. We are in the initial phase of planning an October trip. Got your Christmas card! (Hope you remember me!) Looking forward to catching up with everyone!

Oh, so glad you can join!:thumbsup2 Of course I remember you. I still have very fond thoughts of all of our "CMO wannabe group!"

We don't have much going on right now for our trip. I just ordered AAA books (maps and triptik). We may add another Photopass session to our trip ... still deciding.

So are you going to do a TR? I'll check out your siggie.

I see I've missed a lot of the planning! Didn't even realize it was time for ADR's! Good job, got some good ones there. I'm sure you will ALL ;) enjoy CP.

What a relaxing trip it sounds like it will be. I hope you can find better prices on the flights and rental car. Otherwise, I hope that you all can make the best out of driving and that it will be an easy trip!

Thanks! I'm actually kind of looking forward to driving...but maybe that's because I don't know what I'm getting into yet! :rotfl2:

but there are definitely airport, shuttle, security, airplane, rental car hassles, too.

I'm already starting to load up toys/activities for the car ride.

Oh forgot to mention that I did my Disney Give a Day, Get a Day service so now I can either get $84 toward the purchase of an AP or get a special FP.

I think since we already have tickets that I was planning to use to upgrade to an AP, we'll just do the FP.

Jerry does his Disney service day on Saturday, so we'll have two different days to do the FP. This should work well in summer when it's crowded and we won't be able to make rope drop.

The cool thing is that the GAD FP is good even after all the regular FPs are gone (like at Toy Story Mania). And we can also use the regular FP, too.
