July 20, 2010 - To Key West...And Beyond!

dizzi: We were on the Wonder cruise this past 4/25.

Didn't notice many adults in full pirate costume (there were some of course) but many wore headbands/scarfs or a pirate hat of some sort. Lots of youngsters were pirate dressed in varying degrees. Fun to see everyone.

At the regular rotation restaurants we did notice most everyone dressed nicely for the dress-up evening. Don't think there is a formal night on the 4-night. It's a great time to have some nice pictures of the family taken.

Best wishes.

Hey, its so quiet here! Where is all the talk of anticipation and the fun that's ahead? Is it too soon for that? :confused3

Well, not for me. My suitcase is already out on the bed in the spare room and I've got maybe a half dozen items for the cruise in it that I won't need between now and then. Every time I go by the room just seeing that suitcase gives me a good feeling about the wonderful time ahead. :woohoo:

Sending all those good thoughts everyone's way as you get ready for a special summer vacation. :cloud9:

Yes this thread is very laid backcompared to others i have been on.

I was shocked that it could actually be so quiet on a dis thread this close to the cruise.

I was actually thinking about getting my suitcase out today...

But i have 2 short weekend trips to do before i can really start packing for this cruise.

This coming weekend we are going to captiva island just driving over and stay 2 nights.

I LOVE THE SHELLS i got there last time and i am hoping for a trunk load this time i am putting them in my yard.

THEN me and DH are taking a 3 night cruise on the Norwegian the following weekend.

he cant get away yet from his new job for anything other than the weekend so we leave Friday and come back monday early

If any one is interested we are wanting to join up with others at dinner.

If not i will just call disney and have them put us with ANYONE!

I just dont want to set at a 4 top which will likely end up a 2 top most nights as the 2 younger girls will probablly be in the teen area.

Although there older sister does want them to come for dinner i think somehow the teen club will win out!

dizzi: Glad you share the enthusiasm as well. Helps the time pass.

Good for you planning a couple of trips before the BIG one! We drove down to Captiva several years ago (just for the day) but couldn't find a place to park off the road because so many folks were shelling there. Have fun and enjoy your 3-night cruise as well. Perhaps you'll consider a trip report comparing it to the Disney. Would love to read it.

We're scheduled for the late dinner seating (being cast members) but it's way too late for us. We're traveling with a family of 4 but I don't know at this point what they plan to do about dinner. I imagine they'll be doing the rotation restaurants (their kids enjoy it) late or not. Only once or twice I've been lucky enough to get it changed earlier so we plan to do room service, eat at BB and, of course, schedule Palo one evening (early) for the adults in our party.

I'm sure Disney will accommodate you in finding some good dining companions. :chat:

Best wishes.

Yes i am definitly a talker.....(my post count shows that:rotfl2:)

So do all cast memebers automatically get the late seating?

Do you miss doing the rotation?

I can see how doing room service and getting on with your vacation would be a plus too!

What is BB these Wonder abbreviations are new to me.
Never done the wonder just the magic.

And i am excited to see the differences in something besides a Disney cruise...I have never sailed anything but Disney so i am a bit scared too, which is why we thought a short would to start would be best.

What if it isnt as nice and we dont like it.

ANY WHOO!!!

Happy Memorial Day

See ya soon!!!!

Yes, we are always given the late dinner seating which is fine for most I'm sure. We just happen to be early eaters so make our own adjustments. I guess we seniors find it hard to wait,

This will be our 16th Disney cruise so we've done the restaurants before and enjoyed them all.

Sorry about the abbreviation. BB on the Wonder is Beach Blanket which is the equivalent of Topsiders on the Magic. They both serve dinner on the middle evenings of the cruise - just not the first or last evening.

I'm sure you'll enjoy the non-Disney cruise and will have a wonderful time as well. You'll be on the high seas, having all your meals prepared for you without doing the dishes afterwards, and just relax until your heart's content. What's not to like?

Have fun and best wishes.

So what is it you do at disney?

Yes i am sure we will enjoy it.

Dh and i have never been on a cruise just us.
So even at just 3 nights i am sure we will enjoy the time emmensly.

Do you know if they have both Formal and semi formal on the 5 night?

Thinking about the packing and what to buy the kiddos.

I am going to do just long sundresses no matter what the night is they are comfortable and can be dressy or not.

But i know DDs want to do it up!

TTFN

Hi Lynn,

I don't believe they'll have formal on the 5 night but certainly will have a semi-formal/dress-up night. Whatever you wear will be just fine I'm sure. Be sure to have plenty of pictures taken. You don't have to buy the ones you don't like.

We noticed today our Cabin # (was GTY) is now posted on the Disney website. If you were GTY (guaranteed rather than pick a particular cabin) then perhaps yours is also. If not, it should be shortly. Exciting to see it!

My husband I both work at Epcot and our daughter works at the Studios.

If you have any other questions about the cruise will be glad to try to answer them. Lots of great info here on the DIS as well.

Best wishes.

Just back from Captiva.

Got lotsa shells

I didnt see any oil, i think i saw some black oil balls. But my friends saud that wasnt what it was.

Had an enjoyable time.

One little vacation down, one more to go next weekend before our disney cruise!

YIPEE!!!!

Anyone doing and excursions?

We are thinking of renting and electric car on our own in KW.
Not so sure about the other stops.

I am a bit torn as to what to do.
Any suggestions would be awesome!!!

Glad you had such a great time at Captiva.

Key West is a wonderful town to visit and very easy to find your way around. You can rent an electric car and you can also take the trolly/tram. Ticket booth is just a short distance from the ship. As I understand it, you can get off where you want and hop back on the next one to come along until you find someplace else you want to see and get off again. Our friends did this last trip and recommended it.

Personally, we just take our time and walk to the Southernmost Point marker going in and out of the shops along the way - not only to see what's there but to get a breath of A/C air!

Check the Key West website and you'll find lots of info as well as here on the Boards. Anticipation and planning is half the fun.

Dh and i have been to Key West 2 times but it seems it is more of an adult town.

We love to do the duval crawl with our friends.

But not sure what to do with the kiddos........
I definitly want to take them to the southern most point and get pics

Received our cruise documents today :woohoo: along with the luggage tags.

Anyone else?

Hello everyone, I will also be on this cruise. Can't believe this is my first Disney Cruise even though I have worked for Disney for 10 years. Looking forward to it.

Back from our 3 night.....

NCL is definitly NOT DISNEY!!!

Dont know about my cruise docs guess i need to go check the mailbox.

Hello everyone, I will also be on this cruise. Can't believe this is my first Disney Cruise even though I have worked for Disney for 10 years. Looking forward to it.

CONGRATS!!!
Are you sailing alone or with others?

What do you do in Disney?

What kind of room do you have?

What does any one think about upgrades on this cruise?

We have a port hole room.

Which has one large port hole but i am thinking about asking for an upgrade to a balcony if the price is right.

After our NCL cruise i will never do an inside again at least if it is at ports where i dont plan on doing alot of excursions.

SO i am sure we will be fine with a port hole if the balcony is out of reach.

okay GOING TO MAIL BOX

Hi Everyone,

Another FL resident who just booked as well! We are a party of 4 adults and one child.

I read on another site that the dining rotation will be:

GOT MY CRUISE DOCS.......... YIPEE!!!!!

And i called to see if the above itenerary is a definite and they say yes!
So the 3rd night is Formal night and the 4th night is pirate night.
