TODAY IS THE DAY!!!! - HAPPY 50th BIRTHDAY TO DISNEYLAND - thanks for all the memories throughout the years from the time I first walked through your gates 40 years ago (when I was 5) until last week, with my family. You have always put a little smile on my face.

To all of those quest going today - are thought are with you. Have a great time and a MICKEY ice cream bar for us.

Angie, it was great seeing you once again on main street. It truly is a magical place!

For all of those who have not attended the Party as of yet. IT IS A MUST TO DO FOR THE YEAR - just the fireworks show and the reopening of space moutain (far better now - than ever) is worth making the trip during the celebration year.

Hey, I always try to stretch my birthday out for a few extra days if I can. My birthday is February 1, so my birthday season pretty much stretches from New Year's until Eric's birthday (March 27) if I can get away with it.

Given those parameters, Jim, you were showing a lot of restraint with Mickey's birthday season! !

Hi there! Welcome home!!! I'm cruising the Magic July 30th and wanted to hop over to your thread and ask a few questions since y'all just experienced it!

DS7 and are planning on doing Randi's Happy Horses and I understand some of you took her ride. My questions are: we did Randi meet you (could you find her easily), can you wear shorts, were you sore, and any other pointers you might have for the ride? AND most importantly did you come across jellies at any of the ports?

Thanks in advance! The next two weeks before our cruise feels like it's moving at a snails pace!

Got a little irritated with a CM over the phone today. I just wanted to know if I should report that my kids got strep the day they got off the ship and she kept implying that they didn't get it on the ship. All we did that day was get in our car and drive home. You'd think the way they try to avoid anything getting passed around on the ship that they would like to know that 3 out 4 of my kids got something very contagious on board. (The Dr said the baby was too young to get it) I wasn't asking for anything, just calling to find out if there is someone who handled this info and she acted like it was SOP to put the blame back on the passenger..Deny, Deny, Deny. That attitude only ends up hurting future cruisers and probably ended up getting my kids sick. She finally gave me an email address to send my concerns. We'll see what response I get. I am only informing them, not asking for anything nor would I expect anything because the symptoms showed up after leaving the ship. Just needed to vent!!! Amy

I agree with you I think if there are several children with strep throats they might want to make sure the conselors don't come down with it. I know that they are tryong to keep everything as sanitary as possible but kids always hae their fingers in their mouths. Ryan got sick whn we got back and got kicked out of daycare on tues with a temp of 102. We took him to urgent care I had read about your kids Strep and let the Dr. Know. He did not culture him but put him an antibiotic that would cover Strep He has ear infections in both ears an still has not broken his fever. Thank goodness we own our own business and can be flexible to take care of him out of daycare. That is one reason I have not been able to respond to the boards

This weekend is his birthday I hope he feels better or i think we will be back at urgent care.

We have been trying feverishly to recover the garden from the heat. Ron has finally decided to bark over the ground cover.

It is aways nice to return from vacation the staff thinks you walk on water and they do not like the relief vet.

Have any of you stayed near that room? Any ideas on noise, traffic, etc? It's near the laundry room.

Hi Lisa,

You'll be on the ship before you know it!!!! I'm envious!

My sons (13 and 15) and I were part of the riding group. She was easy to find - you have to take the tram (free) from the ship and she waits where the passengers exit the area. Both sons wore shorts. They weren't chaffed or sore. I don't know that they would admit it even if they were I had read beforehand that there are towels you sit on but that the towels can ride up and you may still chaffe. I wore capris just to be safe. I didn't notice if all the saddles had towels. I didn't hear of anyone in our group chaffing and some others were in shorts. I anticipated the possibility of being sore so I took some creme. I put some on before we rode as well as after and I really didn't have much of a problem. Most likely, don't plan on wearing the same clothes again until laundered. Don't forget sunscreen and maybe even a hat. They'll take your picture with your own camera with you on horseback on the beach with the ocean behind you. Go to the bathroom before you leave the ship. There's not really an opportunity again until after the ride when you're at Victor's. There was a small blue building by the water taxis that was apparantly a bathroom. Painted rather largely it states "$3". I presume it's pesos and not dollars

There were jellies at the beach by Victor's. A few people were stung. One man had a reaction to the sting - swollen foot and pain travelling up the leg. A vehicle had to be called to cart him off to the hospital (I also heard to the ships Dr.?). I think he was on the Carnival Pride. MinnieMart from DIS went to Los Sabalos (or something like that I think) and they didn't have any jellyfish problem. We didn't do the beach in Puerto Vallarta. In Cabo we hung out at Mango's (by The Office) which you may have read about. No jellies there.

What other excursions are you doing?

If I recall properly you're staying at the Marina Hotel right??? We were there. It was nice and quiet and clean. It's kind of at the end of a road so there's not traffic constantly. Our car was fine there. Yes, the carpet is bad in places. They have tennis balls and raquets you can use for free at the front desk. The court has lights. It is badly in need of resurfacing, but for kids to run off excess energy it's great. We didn't go in the pool til after dark. It looked o.k. then

Yep, we're at the Marina Hotel and I'm so glad you brought that up. What time did they shuttle you over? Did you have to sign up...I was thinking about calling them in advance to see if I can get our name on the list now. I was hoping to go over to the port early without DH, DS7 and DS3 and get us all checked in but now with the London bombings I'm thinking we're not going to be able to do that with highten security. I'm most worried about DS3 waiting for so long. Oh well, I'll have to pack activities. What time were you at the port? What group were you?

LiserAnn- Several people on our cruise got WAY seasick on the Pirate Ship in PV (the weather is very warm and muggy in PV, plus they served a warm lunch below deck... bad combination for some people). Just a warning if you are the seasick type, I'd avoid this excursion.

Jellyfish on Stone Island, but the locals say other than the pain there is no long term effect from being stung so we risked it. Some locals got stung, but no one in our group. Lifeguards and our operators have supplies to treat the sting if you get stung.

To all on our cruise who's kids get fevers... I read on the trip report for the week before ours that 2 kids from a DIS family were diagnosed with strep by the ship doctor on board (and given meds, confined for 24 hours, etc). Given that the incubation period is 2-5 days, they likely got it on the ship as well. I know with that many kids on board it is practically impossible to keep everything germ free, but odd for the CM who Amy talked to after our cruise to adamantly deny that her kids could have caught it onboard.


BTW... we are also on the double scoop Nov 11, 2006 cruise (not telling our kids until Christmas). We are in cabins 2146 & 2148 (noisy rooms I hear). Anyone know what the "noise" is from (engines or something else)?

Lisa, The Pirate Ship is supposed to be great fun! We almost did that, then decided upon Los Veranos Canopy Tour (awesome). People had good remarks about the pirate adventure. They do however mention that there's lots of people and the boat ride can be rough. Take medicatioin if you're prone to sickness. I'm sure you've seen the threads on it too.

As for The Office - Mango's is right next door. The tables all kind of blend together. There are lots of umbrellas for shade which is nice. There are a lot of vendors!! The water is cold - I'm told. My DS13 didn't mind. DS15 jetskiid, but didn't want to play in it otherwise. We went to Cabo Wabo's first. It wasn't busy at all then. We got there about 11. We sat in the outside bar area. After some shots and other liquid refreshments we decided perhaps we'd eat. They won't serve you food out there. We were going to go in but then decided on furthering our adventure thus heading to Mango's.

The Marina has two mini vans they use for the shuttle, but don't always have two drivers. When I checked in I asked about signing up for it and they said it was first come first served. Since we had sooo much luggage DH drove us over, went back and parked the car and then rode the shuttle back to the pier. Note - you need your cruise ticket and i.d. to be admitted into the building. He dropped us off about 9:30 and we were given boarding card number 2. I met tchrmom and xlt800 when inside. They had arrived at 8 something and were also group 2 and they only saw 4 other people there. We were wondering if group 1 was considered conceirge and vip's. When DH got back over there it was 10:00 or maybe a little after. They were handing out group 3 tickets. I don't know how many are in a group but the groups seem to follow each other pretty quickly - at least in the beginning. There may be a back up at security after a few groups line up. They started checking us in about 10:30 I think. Good thing DH was back or I couldn't have checked in 'cause you need the cruise tickets to check in. Only one person has to check in but you need all the tickets and proof of cit/passports. Now technically, when coming in the building they guard just looked at the cruise booklet - not at the actual cruise ticket. Perhaps they just want to make sure you didn't forget it. For entertainment there were t.v.'s to watch, but you couldn't necessarily hear. At some point Donald and Goofy showed up seperately for picture ops. Time went pretty quickly because we were all excited to finally be meeting face to face.

We were on the 7th floor but 2 doors down from the laundry room. I did not notice it noisy or heavier traffic, but did notice it was much hotter in the hallway the closer you got to the laundry room, especially the last 2 days on board and there was always that fresh fabric softener dryer smell. Not bad, but like your dryer was running 24/7.

We arrived at the port around 10:15 and got boarding group 2. The wait went really quick. I was a little worried about the wait for my kids too. They had a coloring area and face painting for the kids. There were vending machines nearby. I actually did most of the leg work for my family and left them on the benches while I got in line with others from our group, first checking in w/ passports/BC, getting our KTTW cards, then moving down to the next building and getting in another line to get my kids wristbands, pager and kids navigators, then a quick picture with Donald Duck in front of the ship poster and next thing you know their announcing boarding. My mom uses a walker, and when I asked if she had to fold it up at some point, they bumped us into boarding group 1 so it would be easier for her (and the other 10 in our group!) so that was nice too.
