July 18 Tortola cruise part 3

I've decided that elementary school is overrated. The 4 of us could go on a September 2009 cruise to Tortola for $2400 in a Cat 9. Homeschooling is strating to look like an option.

Uh oh. Don't let the elementary school teachers hear you. :lmao: I teach HS so I have no comment. But in support of my fellow educators, I couldn't do my job without them. What grades are your children in?

1st and 4th. I was being tongue in cheek, of course, but I can't believe how inexpensive the cruises get right after school starts!

Come to think of it, we started cruising on DCL because of the great rates, and I never understood why people complained about the prices. Of course, the kids were babies/toddlers, so we cruised in the off-season. I think our first 7 day DCL cruise was $1800!

Before I put everything away from this cruise I wanted to add another FE comment. In addition to all the wonderful things, I really liked the creativity of many of the tags on the gifts. Talking about going that extra step. We really appreciated the extra effort.

Also, thanks to the families that did "Christmas in July" (can't wait to use the items in DEC) and the family that made the "Experience the Magic" tags and the chocolate candy bar wrapper. I especially liked the bar code in the shape of the castle. :thumbsup2 I would have PMed you, but there was no tag that could help me identify you.

OK not even through my first week back and I'm ready for a vacation. Let's just say that all heck broke lose in my classroom while I was gone and I'm now busy picking up the pieces and correcting some behaviors.

Question for the person who planned for us to use studio sea for our meet. Did you just call the normal DCL number or is there a special number you call to arrange something like this? We want to try and arrange to use that space or another one for our Baltic cruise but I'm not sure who I need to call.

Can someone PM me Tracy Whipple's email at DU?

I somehow can't find where I filed it (sad face here)

...so the last night on the cruise, my camera disappeared off the counter -- I took it off my wrist, set it down to sign a paper to get the stuff I had gotten at Castaway Cay, and presto, my camera was gone.

I filed a lost camera report, and let Nicole know also - last Saturday, she called saying it was found and she was having it sent to me.

Nicole loved our last day door sign (Nemo swimming and saying "What do you mean we have to go home"). I gave her the sign since she liked it so much.

Today - the camera got here and I just downloaded my pictures from it. The last picture was of Nicole holding my sign.

Talk about going the extra mile.... I really miss her....

:lmao:I knew that, but sometimes we teachers are tempted to call in sick!!!
Life doesn't just happen during the summer and school breaks, right?

And why is that??????

Warning - major venting below....

Yesterday I went back to my classroom for the first time since the last day of school -- it was a DISASTER!!!!!!!!!!

I have 26 computers that are NOT connected to the school districts domain,
everything (and I mean everything!!!) was piled in the middle of my room - I spent 4 hours moving my personal desk, computer tables (2 computers per table) filing cabinets, book cases, tables - all back into place.

I was so upset that I refused to go into the classroom today, because (1) I don't HAVE to be there until next week and (2) I know my computers still will not be hooked up or reimaged....

okay, I was really to call in sick and school has not even started!

Oh no! Do you think they just put everything in the middle of the floors to clean around and would have put it back in its place before the start of school? I guess I am still Disney dreaming...:cloud9: :lmao:

Very nice story.

Just kidding but I am a 4th grade teacher.........seriously, 4 days trips can be done........what is tough is when a child goes away over a week and then comes back sick b/c of all the traveling and they miss even more time.......also, I found as a mom the early school years, they can take off but as they get older the kids get a little stressed about it.:teacher:

Please don't tell me this thread is dying?!:scared1::scared1::scared1:
I KNOW I'm not doing anything interesting - worked in the high school office on Wed., Thurs., Fri, 9 hours each day - that is tough work on an old lady like myself!:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: Someone has got to be having fun? :rolleyes1:rolleyes1:rolleyes1 Tell us!:yay::yay::yay:

Well, we just came to an agreement over our Thanksgiving cruise versus Other Options. We decided to go with season passes to the Disney Parks rather than hit another cruise so quickly after the last one. I'd love to see the boat decorated for Christmas, and spend Thanksgiving on the Magic... and avoid my mother-in-law for Thanksgiving. But it's been a couple of years, and I've been suffering withdrawl since day one, so we all agreed that this would serve us better for a longer period of time. :)

Other than that, ummm... Not much else fun. We did go to the water parks this week, and as posted earlier I made Disney scones. :)

Oh, and I was talking about this thread dying with Marcy today, and how sad it makes me. I think people are avoiding reading and posting because it's depressing now that it's all over. :(

Come on Greg, let's cheer 'em up!:dance3::dance3::dance3:
Who is meeting me in WDW next summer? :confused3

I was thinking the same thing. I wish more people would have posted once they returned.

Went to the Magic Meet in PA on Sat. That was an interesting experience. About 550 people in love with Disney. There were games, speakers, give-a-ways, a silent auction, lunch , and tables set up from different organizations. There was two breakout sessions too. Sadly we can't go next year since they will be holding it on a RCCL cruise.

Children got their school schedules on Sat. too. It is becoming more real each day. We are so not ready for it. I'm still thinking we are just starting summer, and not in the second week of Aug. I hate when the kids are in school. I feel like our life is not our own anymore.

Keep chattering.................

Well, now that we'll have passes again, we will! Of course, only Greg will have an annual pass and the rest of us will have seasonal passes, so you may be stuck with just him.

I have to admit that we manipulated our kids today. We took a secret family vote on November cruise versus Disney passes, and it was a tie. After a pow wow with the girls and me, the girls changed their vote. Hmmmm. I probably shouldn't ever be a mediator.

They are getting two nights at the DisneyWorld Hilton next weekend plus 2 days at the water parks out of it, though, so they can't complain too much.
