July 18 Tortola cruise part 3

I'm bringing my pit bull with me....that would be my 22 yr. old son:scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1:

sorry, I DO love my children, but, some days...........:rolleyes1:rolleyes1

So I just finished reading the Tortola trip report that someone posted. It was awesome!

But there are so many loose ends - like how was the debarkation process. The last dinner with the wait staff. The farewell show. What made her sick, etc.

I want MOOOOOOREE!!!!!!!! :lmao:

So, gonna have to scramble around like a mad woman today.

It's really great to get such a long break between assignments - 5 weeks! :cool1: But there's sooooo much to do! You have to see all the drs. you haven't seen in the last three years, all the friends and family, and most of all you have to SHOOOOOOPPPPPPPPPP!!!

So I went to the outlets with my Mom on Monday and got tons of stuff. :cool1: Well, yesterday I pulled out a very necessary item and put it on. I wore it all day, but it didn't seem right. So last night I looked at the tag and it was the WRONG size!!!:scared1: Seems when the saleswoman went into the back to get me the 10 that I needed, she didn't get them all the same size! So now I need to exchange 3 of them - and I have to do it before we leave for the cruise on Tuesday...remember - necessary items. Of course the outlets are 1.5 hours away!

On top of that, have to get my hair trimmed again. Thursday went and got it colored and cut - but despite me telling her twice that since I only get my hair done every year or so (I don't trust the coloring products in sub-saharan AF - just a little idiosyncracy of mine), I need it to be short enough to have room to grow for the next 12 months. After a day of it, I said it just wasn't short enough, so going back today to take another inch off.

Oh well - the only other thing I had to do today was finish up the handmade FEs....:rolleyes1

I hate when I take the time to do something only to have to take more time to do it again. Good luck with the exchange.

DD and I had our hair cut and colored/highlighted on Thursday. DD's hair is too blonde so now the nice lady that does my hair is coming back to the house on Monday to add some dark highlights. It was our fault for not pulling the pictures of what the hair looked like a year ago. It is nice she comes to the house. She also works in a shop. we met when the kids were in preschool over 10 years ago. I tried to color my own hair and it didn't turn out the way I wanted it to, so she has been coming to the house ever since. I love the convieniece and the price is half what I would get charged at the shop. And she gets to keep all the money since the only expense is the tube of color.

I still need to figure out how to pack the FE gifts for travel. I don't think I will bag them until I get on the ship.

Virgil.........Happy 17th Anniversary!!!

There sure are a lot of long term marriages in our group. That's so nice.

Here's some handy advice: If you think you can do your own plumbing, you probably can't, and definitely shouldn't. Not unless you like a laundry room filled with water for the second time in one week...

On the bright side, I'm already getting my sea legs, so we've got that covered. :thumbsup2

Too funny! I've been doing the same with my DH and bless his heart, he's trying to keep up as I reference various people, but he's struggling!

It is amazing what strong connections can be made on a board like this. I absolutely feel like I know many of you already, and have known you for a long, long time.

Jamie

Yeah, I'm having a tough time with names. I really wish there was a way I could change mine to "BomaGreg" so that I didn't make it even more confusing than it already is. I needed a bit more foresight on that one, methinks. :)

And I agree. Meeting everyone on here is awesome, and I feel like I know a lot of you quite well already! :)

This time next week we will be boarding the ship.

Weird! For some reason I had it in my head that we were leaving out on Sunday. Hmmm... This is good news, but I was kind of looking forward to having Saturday to pack and prepare. Now I can't procrastinate, anymore. :(

You scare me, BomaJack.

This time next week I hope I'm gorging on those wonderful shrimp and had my first Mickey bar!:yay::yay:

OMG - I just double quoted - did you see that mjfish1020? :scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1:
You guys must know, I'm far from 'techy' and the reason I just said that to mjfish1020 (Jenny) is she totally knows it!:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

I've come to the conclusion that I could begin packing a year in advance, and at the end of the day I'd still forget something. So I see no real difference between packing a week before, or a day before. Either case, I'm still going to be missing something really important. :)

I couldn't agree more!!!!!!! :thumbsup2

The girls and I watched the Disney Cruise video and they showed Parrot Cay. I told the girls that as soon as we get on the ship we can head there for lunch! They started jumping up and down! Yippeeee!!!!:thumbsup2

Last time, we had to eat at the buffet at Topsiders because Parrot Cay was already closed when we boarded. With four kids under 6 - that was a LOT of fun! (NOT!!!!!) :headache: We had waited for our friends at the terminal. :sad2:

:goodvibes Sorry, guys - won't do that again!!!! If you're late - we'll see ya'll on board!!! :thumbsup2

I wish I could post pictures from here. :sad2: But DH hasn't connected our laptop to the internet and all our pics are on there. We've had some really cute pics of the girls so far on this trip! :cloud9:

We'll be easy to spot at the port though. The girls wanted dresses to match Gabriella's in the final scene of HSM2 - the white one with a blue sash. ;)

So Caitie has a blue sash, Alex has a pink sash, and Grace has a purple sash.

Now - how to keep three all white dresses clean for the entire trip to the Port...while we're waiting to board in the terminal...and nice for the embarkation family photo...WHITE????? WHAT WAS I THINKING?????? :sad2:

You'll recognize us because we'll be one of the first people there. :) We always go early. The port is actually part of the fun... there's television with Disney movies, Mickey and Minnie come out, a model of the boat, and various other things to keep us busy until boarding time. It's basically making sure the first day is a FULL day. :)

darn accuweather predicting rain again, for the whole day! (not just
thunderstorms) - MAN, will I be disappointed - I've never missed a sailaway on deck.:sad1::sad1::sad1::sad1:

I just checked out the weather really quick, and they're forecasting a chance of passing afternoon showers. Same old Florida! :) No panicking just yet.

In all honesty, the chances of all day showers in Florida is pretty slim. And predicting Florida weather this far out is really difficult to do. You can start to worry if they say showers all day a couple of days beforehand, but other than that I wouldn't worry too much about it right now. Just assume that your record is safe and sound for now. :)

Part of me doesn't really care - just get me onboard!!! But, it would be cool for the rest of our family who has never sailed DCL (and 2 have never met Mickey) to have a full experience.

What's the inside scoop if it rains? - where is the sail away party and where is a good spot to stake out ASAP?
