July 18-25 WDW trip

I know of a Super Walmart on Sand Lake rd, but I'm sure there is probably a Winn Dixie or Publix closer.

We like the counter service restaurants at Disney. We go all the time, and don't want to spend a fortune, since we're not on vacation.

Here's the counter service ones we like at MK:

Pecos Bills, Cosmic Rays Starlight Cafe, and Columbia Harbour House. You can check out Debs Allears.net to read the menus. The menus are there for the sitdowns as well.

When you arrive at Mk, check out the times board (just up the street a bit from Casey's Corner.) It will give you an idea of how long the waits are for each attraction. Generally we just head to whichever has the shortest lines.

Super, a Wal Mart would do nicely as we're probably going to pick up a few non-grocery items as well.

I'll check out those resaurants you mentioned, they sound exactly like what we'd be looking to go to.

That allearsnet site is way cool. I'm been messing around just learning on there for the past day. My wife is probably at home taking notes on there right now.

The times board is a great tip as well, I didn't know one existed.

Thank you...same to you.

Just ask at your front desk how to get to Walmart or another grocery store. (My husband is convinced that I'm wrong and it's not on Sand Lake RD.) Right near you is a Sweet Tomatoes restaurant. It's at the intersection of Kirkman Rd and International drive. You can only enter it from International drive. It's great. All you can eat Soup, salad and pasta. Here's their website. You can actually check out their menu for the day you'll be there.

Have a great time! We're leaving this afternoon for Cleveland. Hoping to get as far as Savanah,Geogia tonight. Dh works 'til 4pm. I'm glad we won't be here for the hurricane. Although it's suppose to stay off coast here. Looks like it's a cat 4 and this will be the 1st cat 4 to touch Fl coast. Yuck.

I sure am glad Dennis will be gone by the time we leave. Looks like we might dodge a bullet so to speak.

I was just wondering if you are going to be visiting DW and SW, why you would stay near Universal. It's really not convenient. If you have a car, drive to the parks it will be easier with a little one. There are many thrifty hotels to stay at near DW that will make is easier for you.

Well, for a couple of reasons. First, the travel agency, Take Me On Vacation, uses the Radisson hotel chains and we could have stayed on Int'l Dr. closer to Disney in a cheaper hotel. We wanted an upgrade so we could have a kitchen and nicer amenities. It was only a $150 upgrade for the week which seemed fair enough. And this particular hotel was the only one we could get into when we called via the Travel Agency.

How much does it cost to park at DW? Is there some kind of passes associated with that as well?

I believe it still costs about $8 per day, but you only pay this once. So if you leave you can come back and not pay again. Just keep the receipt. You can also move from park to park. We always stay onsite, so I haven't had to pay for parking. But last time I was there it was around $8 per day. Perhaps someone on here who has paid recently can tell you better.

BTW...I wanted to check your drive time, but I can't find any Radisson Comfort Suites. There is a Radisson near Universal, but not with full kitchens. Comfort Suites are usually a Choice Hotel Chain hotel. Radisson does have Country Inns and Suites. Double check your hotel and make sure you're getting what you think you're getting, and not just a microwave and a refrigerator.

Yes, you are right. Ugh, I was confused about that too. Choice Hotels is who it is, I guess the Agency works with them as well. I'm sorry, I just learned that a couple days ago and forgot about it.

Our original Hotel was a Radisson of some sort.

$8 per day isn't bad all things considered I don't think. What time can you arrive at the parking lot so you can be there when the gates open?

Yeah, I've been watching. Dennis should have moved on well before we leave. My concern was if anything was coming through after it, as of now it doesn't appear so. My guess is that the folks the live in FL probably have a better handle on that than I would though. Anyone? Should we be concerned the week we're down there? Honestly, that's my wife's biggest fear, well that and flying. Neither of us has ever been off the ground, so this trip will be a big step for us! LOL

We will be there the same exact time you will. I am very nervous about a hurricane. I keep telling myself not to worry, but I still am. :guilty:
