I am in Indianapolis Monday & Tuesday for state training. Wednesday I am working all day, but leaving for the airport at 4 p.m. for Las Vegas!

To answer your question, YES we are seeing Donnie & Marie on Thursday (I think!). We also have Barry Manilow tickets (yes, AGAIN!) on Friday night! We haven't said much about the Manilow tickets because we know how disappointed Marshall would be if he knew we were going!

We usually stay at the Monte Carlo, but decided to try Planet Hollywood this time for a change! :dance3: I am so ready......and I'm going to the spa on THursday morning for a hot stone massage, compliments of DH!:woohoo:

Wow, that sounds great!!!:woohoo:

I went against the grain and was a Jimmy fan...Although, Donny does make one good looking Grandpa :lmao:

I really, really want to see Barry!!! I keep trying to talk DH into going to Vegas so we can see all of the Cirque shows and I can see Barry. I think DH is permanently scarred after I dragged him to see Neil Diamond :thumbsup2 At least he missed my stage door groupie night post Captain and Tennille Concert ...:lmao:

Well, having seen Neil Diamond & Barry Manilow..................Barry is the BIG winner in that contest, IMO. I haven't seen Donny Osmond, so I'm a bit jealous about that one! I have no interest in seeing Captain and Tennille. :rotfl:

I have to admit, this is our fourth trip to see Barry Manilow! We saw him in
Vegas twice and in Chicago once. We took all three kids to see him in Chicago and they all loved the show. Even DH and DS14 who are both very diffeent in musical tastes from me. DS11 plays many of his songs on the piano. He puts on an AMAZING show! We have seen Elton John there too, but Barry is a showman! Elton is a musician.......

I am anxious to see Donnie and Marie. Their reviews are really good. I had all the Osmond albums as a kid! Reviews to follow!:thumbsup2

Yes, we all want to hear everything!! We went to our first EJ concert this summer in AC and it was fantastic........the only problem was that I couldn't stop screaming and yelling and the audience was particularly "mature" and they didn't appreciate my behavior.........:confused3

Wow! What a week!!!!

Well, first of all, we have received our assignment for next summer!!! Drumroll please............

KAMPALA, UGANDA :thumbsup2

So we will be staying in Africa, just moving Southeast by a couple thousand miles. They speak English there, so I will cease being the family translator for my husband, who never gets language training prior to our assignments. Yeah!:cool1: The international school sounds fantastic and they are already sending us information for the girls. Only problem, their first day of school is the second week of August!!! AGHHHHH! (That will totally cut short our vacation!:headache: )

After that great news, I got a phone call from the school to pickup DD#1. After visiting the dr., they ran some blood tests and discovered that she had Malaria! :scared1: :scared1: This is a really, really bad Malaria season here. The hospitals are full and several of our friends have gotten sick. But I wasn't expecting it in our family because we take prophylaxis against the disease. Unfortunately, DD#1 had outgrown her dosage and we hadn't adjusted her levels. Luckily, we caught it very early, so she just got a mild fever, and only missed one day of school.

Finally, we ended the week with DD#1's birthday party. My "baby" is now 7 years old!!! :sad1: :sad1:

Now, can I take this upcoming week off to recuperate???? :confused3

I just love the picture! The girls are just adorable.

I hope your daughter is feeling better.

My son works for the State Dep't and wants to do 2 years with the Foreign service. He was just taliking about what a great experience it would be forchildren to go to the embassy schools.

Well, seems like we've been lacking in posts the last few days, so maybe this will trigger some responses:

As some of you know (maybe all of you by now) WVMD's DD and I got engaged back in June on the Magic... We are wanting to see if we can work out a Disney Cruise wedding as well but we're having some difficulty planning it so we could probably use some suggestions.

Right now we are looking at getting one of the wedding packages for a 4dayish cruise and getting married on Castaway Cay, but...
-It needs to be 'affordable' for any family members that want to come
-It needs to be at least a year out to give people time to plan/budget for it
-We would prefer nice weather so we can show all the 'non cruising' family members how great it is (also I dont like hurricanes anymore)

So, I guess the hole we're stuck in is that its cheaper to go in the 'off season' or hurricane season, but then the weather wont be as nice. Does anyone have any past cruising advice they could offer that might steer us in the right direction?

What a great idea!!!:goodvibes

I've been to the Bahamas in January, April, September and summer months. In the winter, the weather is still good, it's rarely chilly, just the ocean water is cool. It would still be beautiful and I think I've heard that the 4 day trips are cheapest then and sometimes amazing deals are offered. I would probably call DCL and ask them the cheapest time to go and the pros and cons. I think the ship is also less crowded then.

We were on a DCL cruise last October and ran into Hurricane Noel. There were 5 or 6 weddings scheduled for Castaway Cay but we didn't stop there. The crew made arrangements to have the weddings in that nice piano bar on Deck 3. Except the problem was there was a gand of us DISers also planning a trick or treat scavenger hunt for our kids and we were meeting at the hallway there. Trying to keep all of them quiet was hard. I spoke with one of the brides later in the week and many things didn't go as she had planned. Her Maid of Honor and future MIL were extremely sea-sick they had never cruised before amd the seas were choppy; she was trying to make the best of it though.

I was looking into redoing my vows last year as we were celebrating our 25th anniversay. It was kinda pricey, $800 for 10 minutes with the captain, a bottle of champagne, a certificate and a cake for 4. So we didn't 'officially" do it. We put it on our reservation and then our server asked about it. We got the cake and a special serenade at dinner. Priceless

Wow, that's quite a tragedy...........I guess the secret would be to avoid Hurricane and rainy season...........sometimes Spring cruisings has it's issues.

Also on a happy note, DS just got engaged!!

His fiance is lovely and is completing her master's and advanced certificate at Tuft's so we're thinking the wedding won't be for a while.
