Here are my thoughts.

I love WDW but.... it's a lot of work. A cruise is a real vacation. You can really relax and get a little bit of Disney along with it. It is so worth the money. When you consider that what you are spending includes your room, food and all activities on the ship.

Thank you..........you said what I wanted to in less than 1000 words!!!!:worship: You're so good!:rotfl2:

starwood.....I noticed your link to your son's marching band. Our band HS band has been chosen to march in the St. Patrick's Day Parade in DUBLIN, IRELAND!!!!!!!!!!

I think it's a great opportunity for kids in band to do those things. Often it's the athletes with that opportunity.:cool2:

Now that's a long trip.

I strive to be concise with my answers:rotfl2:

There are no words to describe a Disney Cruise. To me it is the ultimate vacation. Yes, you can travel other lines, but Disney is top-of-the line and you cannot describe or put a price tag on Disney Magic:cloud9: :cloud9:

We won't even consider going on another cruiseline. And it's just DH&I now, our kids are grown!! LOL

My perspective:

As said, there are no words to describe a cruise. Really, the fun is so overwhelming that the love for it comes after you get off the boat. There's always too much to do that you can feel rushed. But, you just have to go with the flow and take it all in stride. Everything about it seems to be enjoyable. I like just chillin' on the boat everyday, going wherever, eating a ton. I'm too lazy to type anymore, but yeah, it's pretty much amazing.

HINT: Don't go to the shows giving tips for the ports and such. They always show those on the t.v. at night, so you'd be wasting thirty minutes or an hour watching them.

Well said son......and I had forgotten about the port tips "conventions". You are right, they are on the TV!

Yes, all of the above!:cool1:

Hey everyone, just checking back in. We survived hurricane Ike with no major damage. We had a huge tree on the roof, but it did minimal damage. We've got some of our friends living with us now because their home got about 3 feet of water in it so they'll be living here until they get their house back together (may be a long long time). Havnt taken the time to catch up on the 20 pages I missed, and doubt I'll be able to with all the recovery efforts going on here.

It is so sweet of you to take in your friends!:worship: I really feel for everyone down there and hope you guys recover quickly. Besides the general chit chat, I think you might have missed the "20 things about yourself" and "Fish Extender" list. If you are interested, just let JoAnn (jlawall) know. She is in charge of the list for that.

Wow, sorry to hear how tough it's been...........so nice of you to have those friends stay.......:worship: :worship: :worship:

Don't worry, Virgil already signed you up for the Fish Extender list!:thumbsup2

Hey Nick,

I bet you and Kristin are glad the stoplights are working! I'm sure getting home from work was so much fun, I was out and about with the kids about the time NASA let out - traffic was horrible! I desperately wanted to buy the police officers coffee as thanks for the traffic control. I settled for a smile, wave and a thumbs up! My blood pressure is finally back down to normal - I hated driving without the stoplights, no amount of driving in the Chicago suburbs could prepare me for those two weeks :scared1: ...:lmao:

If your friends need manual labor let us know - we have access to several 14 year old boys who are very good at hauling scraps, ripping out carpeting, and other various slave labor chores, including helping break down and install fencing. :rolleyes1

Hahaha, thats good to hear Monica. I'll let them know, but I think most of the labor in the house is done for now. Not sure what he's doing with the garage yet.

As for the traffic, yes, it was absolutely terrible. We were pretty much land-locked. anywhere local was fine, but as soon as we had to go west towards I45 or north to Pasadena, it was at least 45 minutes to get where we were going and it wasnt like rush hour where its only bad one direction... you just get stuck. back roads dont work, its no faster coming back home... not to mention all the bad drivers that just blow right through the intersections :scared1: ... I'm definately glad they're back up and working.

You are all still in our prayers for a quick get back to normal. It's funny how it seems so long ago this happened to you because we are so far away. We tend to forget about the devistation, yet you folks are still living it every day. Please know that we wish you all the best.

Once again, well said...........:worship:

If Kristin works by Sonny Carter - I should have given you the short cut through our subdivision... Sorry, I didn't think of it sooner. (Although, it still might save sitting through the left hand turn lights after work)

Before the stop lights were working - it would take John about 30 minutes to go from hwy 3 to the CLC/Space Center intersection (normally 5 minutes - for the rest of you...) coming home from work.

I got pretty creative with my routes so I could avoid left hand turns...:lmao:

Monica, we're over in middlebrook and she really only has that one main light (CLC/Space center) to go through. We cut up through pinebrook and it spits her out right onto CLC then a right on Space center and she's there. Our drives to work didnt get affected too badly, it was just any time we wanted to go somewhere besides work... but then again, why would we do a silly thing like that? :confused3

Oh, and another thing... I havnt got anywhere on the new logo with all this stuff going on, so instead I just made the existing one look a little better. You can see it in my sig.

The link for it is: (EDIT: this one doesnt include the date, replace the -1 with a -2 if you want the date)
