A baritone horn resembles a small tuba. The marching band version is slightly different. Maybe this will help (pictures from wikipedia).

Baritone - also known as a euphonium.

He is the one on the way left (the first one pictured) Yes they were very, very warm. The uniforms are wool. I guess because when you march at football game sin NJ in October and November you have to be warm.

I can't wait for Matt to get the video on the computer so I can post that. They were great.

Let's hear it for the low brass!!! ds13 keeps correcting me every time I call a euphonium a baritone. No fun trips in the future for our kids when they get to h.s. - every other year they travel and it's to the Band of America competitions.

dd10 just had her instrument interviews for 6th grade band next year - she was insistent on playing trombone just like her brother... (I thought maybe for her little size and arm length they'd switch her to euphonium) Because I was forced to play my cousin's leftover trombone, all I cared about was that it was her choice and it was a good fit for her...

I can't complain about playing too much that's how I became friends with the guy who later became my dh Some advantages to being the only female in entire low brass section

If I would have known my children would play trombone, would that have inspired me to practice more and not give it up after Freshman year? Probably not, but a family quartet is fun to think about...

That was my dream as a kid. I still love horses but I find riding them a bit painful as I never get to do it. Today is Kentucky Derby day, isn't it? I hope all the horses are safe and we don't have a repeat of the Barbaro incident.

Wait - freight charges to ship THEM... the horses???? , here??? ??? OK this may be Texas, but our Homeowners Association may have something to say about 11 horses in our very tiny yard...




hmm, that's tempting - Mike will be occupied for the summer with Jared and you'll keep Maggie busy... How far are into Michigan are you from Chicago? Grandma and Grandpa live 20 miles west of Chicago. Since the grandparents are cruising with us in '09 - I could at least get her to Chicago... You just may get your stable hand...

Good Morning! We are up and off to Shlitterbahn-Galveston this a.m. Maggie and her girl scout troop are spending the day at the water park.

I'm getting bad. Ever since we got back last week I've been planning for the cruise. Trying to decide where to stay the night before, where I want to eat at WDW, do I want to get the dining plan.....

Right now we may be staying at the Holiday Inn Express in Cocoa (free with DH's HI points). Return rental car and try to get to port by 10 or 10:30 (I love being the first ones there). We'll probably take DCL bus to OKW and then Magical Express back to Airport.

I'd like to eat at Coral Reef for lunch (20% discount with DVC). Maybe Le Cellier (see what all the fuss is about) and Mama Melrose for Fantasmic dinner.

He just gave me one of those "Are you nuts" look.... shook his head and walked out of the room....
