thought I'd kick this thread 'up a notch' (get it - kick it up a notch - Emeril )....OK, for anyone who didn't get it, turn on Emeril on the Food Channel

Was summoned for jury duty today - my number is ALWAYS called...but, I got lucky (Lucky Lucy!!! ) - they didn't pick me this time for a case - I did make it to the courtroom but I looked really, really bad today (I know, how could I possibly look bad, right JoAnn? )...honestly, I dressed for the part, and they didn't pick me - I was SO HAPPY! Now I'll get a check for $9 (yep, NINE dollars) - I hope I don't spend it all in one place

When I served on Federal in Houston a few years back - it was $40/day plus free public transportation... I was thrilled - it was more than I was making teaching water aerobics... Sequester me please!!! Hotel room, meals provided, someone to make my bed, clean the bathroom, plenty of books to read and no kids!!! (While I did get on the jury, I didn't get sequestered...)

I just looked - County Pay is $6... State is no less than $6 for the first day and no less than $40 for the rest...(I guess it's up to different districts...)

you KNOW what "they" say about NJ!!!! (Starwood, I'm joking! )....Yes, I'm sure Federal pays alot more but I never want to find out!

As I sat there waiting to be 'picked' I kept thinking, well, this (jury duty) surely would be better than my next month's appts. (root canal, hand surgery, other appts. I don't wanna talk about - you know, when you are '50 and over' those awful tests you must have on your body ) OH, this will truly get me a comment from JoAnn

How is the weather everyone? I'm a 'weather watcher' (now that I have more time!) - we are having a teeny-tiny bit of freezing rain right now but should clear till school is over this afternoon. No big snows in the forecast for us

I'm a weather watcher here too, Lucy. Red sky at night, sailor's delight. Red sky at morning, sailors take warning. Actually we had a red sky this AM and they say rain this PM (better than snow!!)

Last time I had jury duty I didn't see a penny because they don't pay you directly if you would normally be working. Not sure how much it is, though.

Well i think you'll be getting snow soon cuz we have had rain storm after rainstorm out here in the west. We had a horrible one a couple days ago and i hear Kansas is getting slammed so ...me thinks its on its way out to you

I can't believe the high winds we are having right now - the wind actually blew wooden rocking chairs off our front porch this morning - never happened before.....of course I had to 'chase them' - a sight you wouldn't want to see, gang

ok my DH feels I need to explain why my name is AdventureBlondeBoy. So, here goes the short version: accidently started two VMK Characters for DS9 (back when he was 5) and decided to play one of them (AdventureBlondBoy). So my VMK character is a boy and you wouldn't believe how many girls walk up to me and tell me i am cute. We all laugh because if those girls knew I was a 40-year old mother of 4 I think they would die. Meanwhile I tell my children, let this be a lesson - you never know who you are talking to when you are on the internet. my other title is Eileen, which may make more sense from a now a-couple-years-older-but -still-mother-of-four type person
