Love the story.

??? How did Greg go to "BomaJack" and not "BomaGreg?" Do I have the right person don't I?

He uses "Jack" as his online name for all boards. Which works well when you're hiding your true identity, but not so well when you're about to meet a slew of people in person, give them your cabin number, and constantly run into them on an enclosed floating city for 7 days!

Finally decided on what to do for the grab bag. Ours isn't necessarily for our town but more our state. I hope it is OK-- I always get nervous that people won't like what I picked out for these kinds of things. :confused3 But it is what it is now.

Do you have any clue about where the store was? Did you walk from the ship or tender, of course I don't know that you could walk on water :rotfl2:

I have no recollection whatsoever. I recall a statue in a square and then a small row of shops. I think we walked off the ship.

They've built the port up so much since 1995 that it looks completely different. The only one I think it could be is Al Cohen's Discount Liquors, but I doubt it because I would have made a joke at the time about traveling all the way to the Caribbean just to buy booze from a member of the tribe.

I enjoyed that person's trip report from a few pages ago. I'm looking forward to the cruise part report. It was fun reading while I waited for the dryer to show up. I liked not doing laundry.

Story for lwilliam and disnutz (and anyone else who cares to read) about booze on St. Thomas:

Greg and I went on a RCCL Panama Canal cruise for our honeymoon ('95). We started our trip with a few days in Puerto Rico. We were at a great hotel, but it had the biggest casino on Puerto Rico so the cigarette smoke was terrible. As a result, we both ended up with really sore throats and colds.

Fast forward to the cruise -- we were really sick on embrakation day and the first full day, and spend most of the time in bed (and not in a honeymoon sort of way). Our day 2 stop was St. Thomas, and we dragged ourselves out of bed to go onto the island. We were dizzy and hoarse and wandered into a liquor store to bring back some gifts. The owner saw us and said, "You two look terrible. Come with me." He brought us to a tasting bar (where a lot of people were sampling different liqueurs) and said he had the cure for our colds. We kind of shrugged and said okay. He then mixed about 12 different things into one concoction for us and told us to drink it down. I can still recall how much it burned! We bought some liquor, thanked him, and went back to the ship, where we slept off what must have been the equivalent of 2 Long Island Iced Teas.

When we woke up, we were cured. Not just "feeling a little better" cured, but completed cured.

I still sometimes wonder if it was a hallucination, because we've never been able to find that same liquor store again.

You really need to remember this place!!! :thumbsup2
It's in a box just below everyone's form, Where the medical forms are and the form if you are bringing a child that is not your own. There is a button that's suppose to light up. Mine is not lighting up.

I bet you that is the problem - I had to give DD charging privs (which at 16 I was going to do anyway)

I called and that was my problem! Go figure. I checked the box that said I wasn't taking finanancially responsible for her!! :rotfl2:

Oh............where do I sign up for the Cat. 2 tour? I've only seen a Cat. 3. Do I need a housewarming gift?

However, about two years ago, 2 children that were hanging out my DS. They told their Dad they were bored. The Dad jokingly told them to go see if they can get a tour of the Walt Suite............and so they did. My DS came back to our room and happily bragged that he had seen a part of the ship that I hadn't gotten to see. Then he told me how they just rang the doorbell, and asked for a tour of the suite. The family invited them in for a quick tour. You can only imagine the conversation I had with our DS about going along with this adventure. Good grief. :confused3

That is way cool!

When is the meet in the cat 2???? I'm ready!

That's like going to a foreign country and eating at Wendy's or McDonald's :rotfl2:

Al Cohen sounds like they should sell suits.

Talked to one of my co-workers and apparently she has been to the Soggy Dollar Bar before and said it was one of the neatest places she's ever been. I really want to go but not sure if we'll have time... maybe on another vacation...
