July 18 2009 Tortola - Part 2!

We are going on this cruise too! We just booked it today. There will be more than 30 of us for a "mini family reunion". With my group alone its dh, dd (12), mom/dad/brother/wife and son (10), daughter(8). We can't wait!!!! Now I have to look thru all these posts. Can anyone give me a quick update?

A beer package would be nice. They do have the beer tasting on one of the days. At least you can take beer onboard with a rollon cooler.

Oh really.....

Now is this bringing beer in your suitcase, or can you bring it back on the ship from ports? I know they try to take all the liquor from you when you get back on the boat, but never tried with beer.

You can bring it on when you initially board just like you can with water or soda.

Why do I keep doing this to myself? I continue to rethink the baths excursion. I will probably be sorry if i don;t do it, but by the same token, the day at Cane Garden Bay done on my own sounds wonderful. Ugh!! I hate being a Libra - back and forth, back and forth!

Being a Pisces is terrible too. I can never make up my mind on anything. I don't know how I ever decided to get married?

I keep rethinking the Bath too. I don't want to regret not going there. Now I'm thinking of being brave and doing it on our own in the AM. I'd like to get there before the excursion group. Stay until lunch and head back to the ship. I think someone else from our group is going the same thing.

I also keep flipping on transportation to the port from th BC. It's between a towncar or DCL. I don't want to get there at 2 PM though.

i completely understand. I'm a Libra too and can never make those decision!!!

I keep trying to go over our plans for Tortola and St. Thomas. Imust keep telling myself not to plan too much because then we won't enjoy the vacation as much. But on the other hand, we may not get back to Tortola and wouldn't it be a shame to not go and see those great beaches!!!!

I've been to both beaches and The Baths is really special. I've actually been there twice and I was thinking that I wouldn't like it as much the second time but I really did even though it was more crowded the second time. There's something pristine about the water and the beach(maybe the water is more fresh and clean due to the filtration of the bath rocks?) It is a sight to be seen and a marvel of nature.

Cane Garden Bay is like many beaches in the BVIs, it has a few shack bars and you can rent the beach chairs with really limited shopping. I think it is where Jimmy Buffit wrote Margaritaville. It is cove-shaped and small yachts dock there.

I thought White Bay Beach was much nicer (where the Soggy Dollar Bar is located, home of the "Painkiller")

I am. I read on a recent thread about a person who just got back that that is what they did. It sounds like they saved a lot of money and it worked out well. I don't want to pay the high prices for the excursion, avoid the crowds and also have the option of changing my mind if I want to. If you book the excursions, you become locked in 3 days before you sail, no refunds.

I just bought the cutest birkis from amazon.com they have tinker bell on them. A little expensive but they were so cute and I needed a little retail therapy after the day I had. Today I had a child have a seizure while doing her feeding. I had one through a chair threw the window and to top that off I had a child escape from the room unnoticed. Thankfully they were caught before they got out of the building. Lets just say it was a lovely first day back. I can not wait for July to get here.
