I would love to start packing but my mom refuses to start until next Friday. I have been gathering things together though and we do have a box full of no clothing items that are all ready to go. Can't believe we are leaving in 12 days woo-hoo !

I'm not wearing a long skirt for formal night, but I am wearing an ankle length dress. I'm on the short side and look funny in anything but a short skirt so mostly I'm taking dresses. I even found a short cocktail dress to wear on semi formal night. I would rather wear pants because of my insulin pump but my mom really wanted me to wear dresses this trip so I agreed.

Speaking of Shaun's birthday on the 23rd, is anyone else in our group celebrating a birthday, anniversary, etc., while on board?

My DH and I are celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary while in Europe. It's actually the 16th July, but I will be telling our waiter about it. I am bringing my own anniversary decorations for our room. DH will probably think it's silly, but I'm going to do it anyway.

We have used melatonin, but never for jet lag. I think I will pick some more up and bring it with us. It even works great for my little ones.


We are celebrating our 10 year anniversary this summer and my in laws are celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary. We really want to go to Palo to celebrate. The only time we could get was Wed. at 8:00. I think we are going to be to tired to really enjoy it as our flight arrives the day of the cruise. We also don't want to miss the sail away party. I am going to try to switch it once on board.

Still no docs in Oklahoma.......

We are going to Palo on the 18th as well, only our reservation is at 7M. Told my DH that this way, he could get his two dress up nights out of the way at the beginning of the cruise and then he wouldn't have to wear a tie again until semi-formal night. I'm not sure what time the sail away party is but I think we'll be done in time.

I'm taking the cue from what others have said about men not bringing sports coats/jackets along on this cruise. My DH will therefore be wearing a long sleeve dress shirt with a tie and pants and will probably wear the same tie with a different shirt and pants for Palo night and semi-formal night. We were at a 4th of July Day parade today and a "pirate" costumed guy went by and DH now thinks he wants a "costume" , as if I have time for that!

For semi-formal night I am just wearing a long sleeveless "church" type dress but for formal night and pirates night I will be dressier. My pirates costume reflects all the GOLD that my PIRATE has captured and therefore turned into fancy clothes for "his wench" . Formal night attire, I haven't quite decided on yet, but will be dressy. I love to dress up!

With the help of my cousin today I was able to get our door decorations done. Well, actually she made them, but we all created the idea.

You are right 2 weeks from today we will be on the MAGIC

A question for Linda who did the TA in May:

Do you recall if the hairdryers in the bathrooms were very high watts? I have thick hair and it takes a while to dry, so I am hoping not to have to bring my own travel hairdryer. Just wondering how strong the ones DCL puts in bathrooms are?

I will be wearing dresses most nights for dinner along with some skirts and tops. So for formal and semi-formal I will be wearing dresses, but nothing like a ball gown. I, too, love dressing up but have no room in my luggage for my overly elegant pieces!

So, for regular dinner nights (not formal or semi-formal) - what to wear for dinner? Can guys wear jeans with a collar shirt? No shorts allowed, correct? He only has 2 pair khaki pants & will be wearing those for church-day excursions. Are capri pants OK for women? We may skip formal night so we can go to the early show instead but in case we do go, do we NEED to pack a sport coat for DH, or would a button up shirt with tie do (as a PP mentioned)? They don't care what DD (age 2) wears for dinner, right? Seems like such a pain to have to pack so many extra things for dinner each night!

We love to dress up- I will be in floor length dress and DH in tux on formal night. They are "shoved" into a duffle bag right now

There are really no "dress rules" in the main dining rooms except that they don't like shorts at dinner. You can certainly wear whatever you prefer-dressy or not. It is just fun to dress with the theme of the evening.

The only stipulation is Palo. Men must wear shirt and tie to dinner (not sure if men need a coat) and women must wear nice dress or pants. Palo brunch does require men to be in pants-not shorts.

Hope that helps-our packing is almost complete. Few last minute things tomorrow.

As far as dress goes, I am just wearing a simple, black, sleeveless dress for formal night and I will dress it up with jewelry. Semi-formal night I am wearing a dress. The other nights I am wearing skirts or slacks.

You all sound on top of everything, I have got to get my act together and get stuff ready.

Sandy- I bet you will have time for Palo and the sail away party. I might see if we can switch to the 7pm sitting once we are on board. I think our late ressie might be pushing it to enjoy the party with our kids.

Does anybody know about what time our luggage is delivered to our staterooms?

Formal night for me will be a linen jacket, shirt & tie, nice trousers. Jill will be wearing a 'nice' dress. Palo I'll have the same jacket, different shirt & tie, Jill has another pretty dress for that.

I am bringing my own travel hairdryer, hair straighter and travel plug too.

As I had been trying hairdryer at dcl, I don't like it as make my hair fizzzy!!

I think I am going to pay extra one case!

The verdict is still out on whether we will do formal night but I am bringing 2 dresses and a skirt for my DD (age 11) to cover all contingencies. For myself, a mid-calf silk dress (bought for daytime wedding), a black and white patterned skirt and a pair of black slacks and a off-white pair that can be worn with different tops and a white jacket I am bringing. We are not doing Palo so that is not an issue.

I really am trying to stay with one large suitcase, 2 small ones to bring on-board but not sure we'll make it.

Can't really start packing until sometime next week but am accumulating all the other little stuff and copies of documents, etc now in one place so we'll be ready to go. Hard to believe we are leaving a week from this Sunday!

Yes, I have very thick hair too and the hairdryer works fine. Generally, the hair dryer in the bathroom gets so hot I have to turn it off for a few minutes and then go back in and finish as my hand feels like it starting to burn from holding it so long!

Ditto. I have a great elegant dress, but there is no way I am going to haul it across the world. Figure when we are back on the Magic for Thanksgiving this year that I will haul it to Orlando for that week!

Yes, guys can wear jeans and collar shirts. But I haven't seen alot of guys in "jeans", more khaki pants or a nicer pair of pants. Capri pants are okay. I wore them in the dining room with a dressier top and nicer shoes for casual evening. No sport coat needed for DH. Button up works great with a tie. DD can wear just about anything!

I'm trying to mix and match and bring things that I can roll up and are light weight so as to keep the luggage weight down!

Accomplishments today: All the bills have been paid for while we're gone! I'm practicing wearing another new shirt and breaking in my new walking shoes. I tossed a few more items into the "packing basket." Now I'm at work for the duration of the afternoon, but hope to get a few more things done tonight. 6 more working days after today! 8 1/2 more days til we leave. Less than two weeks til we sail!

I have never been this organized with packing for a trip! LOL! Usually I marathon pack the night before..

Yesterday I packed up the makeup I will need for the trip. Have been saving some new products, so i have a nice selection to take with.

Also, I counted out my daily meds into little pill pak baggies. They seal up nicely and take much less room than all the bottles. Of course, I am also bringing hard copies of all my prescriptions, too.

So next will be jewelry, lol. Then a few casual clothing items and bathing suits. Getting closer!!

Today we went and picked up our Euro's from AAA. They look like monopoly money. Also finished getting all prescriptions filled and have even gotten prescriptions for a backup plan in case my insulin pump fails or something else goes wrong. I thought you had to travel with all pills in their bottles. Do you not have to? All my bills are paid except for car payment. If it doesn't come soon I'm just going to mail it to GMCA without the statement. We also usually wait till the night before to start packing. Not doing that this time. Starting tomorrow with non clothing items. Can't believe the cruise is almost here.

Lissa - just curious, what was your exchange rate for the AAA Euro's? Ours is at 64 Euro for $100 US. I will probably go out on Monday to pick ours up. I called Bank of America today and briefly thought about opening an account just to get the Euros from them.
