My family of 4 (DH, niece (15), DS (11), and myself), arrived at the HRH for the last 4 nights of our 14 night road trip. Up to this point, this trip could have been titled "Murphy's Law Road Trip." If you have ever been on a trip that so many things had gone wrong, the only way of consoling yourself was to continually remind your family that you were sure you would all get some really good laughs out of it someday, then you know what I mean. We checked in around 4:30 and immediately thought, "Here we go again!" We booked this stop as a last minute addition. After all, it was on the way home and we couldn't resist.
We booked through Hotel Kingdom and received a confirmation stating that we had already been charged a deposit of 10% of each night's rate, and a second deposit of one room night. We left home prior to receiving our bank statement, therefore we assumed that upon check-in we would only be charged the remainder on our confirmation. At check-in we were informed that either Hotel Kingdom had not deducted the deposit from our Check Card or they were still holding it. Either way, we would have to pay the entire amount and straighten it out when we returned home and recieved our bank statement. (They haven't deducted anything so far, so all is well.
) I guess the lady at the front desk felt sorry for us, because when we got to our room, we were pleasantly surprised to discover we were given a pool view. Not only did we get the upgrade without asking, but we were given a rate of $147 plus tax.
We had reserved a Garden View at $162.26 plus tax.
This automatically made the HRH our best destination.
