July 16, 2016 Disney Fantasy, Eastern Caribbean

I had people concerned about internet privacy and not wanting names on the list so I just left ages and genders. The list is on page one post two. Find your group there. As the last few get rooms assigned I will add.

I know it's a little tough to not have names but since the Dis requests we keep things on the board this seems to make most people happy. If you want names you can always request in a post or PM. I'm just planning to write room # and DD6 or whatever on mine.

This will only be our second FE group. Last time I noticed most people put everyone's name on things - To and From. Is this expected? I felt bad that I just left things anonymously.
Totally up to you if you want to say who it's from or not. I'd say most do but not expected or mandatory at all!

I've now become paranoid about people stealing door magnets, FE's and the gifts inside them, since reading a post in the main forum! :( I can't believe anyone who spends that much on a Disney cruise would then go around stealing little things like that, especially when there's young children involved! You might never know if someone had given you something cute and another person had stolen it right outta your FE before you got back :( This makes me sad :(

Subject DIS Meet
Got a private message asking about this and seeing many folks hoping their kids could meet, etc. So, DIS Cruise Meets are pretty common on the ships. Normally occur on sail away day around 3:00 which gives folks enough time to meet and then get to the lifeboat drill and then the Sail Away party. So a schedule would look like this:
2:45 / 3:00 - 3:45 DIS Meet up
4:00 - Lifeboat Assembly Drill
4:30 - Sail Away Deck Party

If folks are interested there is nothing we have to do other than pick a place on the ship to meet. A suggestion on where to meet would be the Bon Voyage at the Grand Atrium Deck 3 opposite the guest services desk. Normally plenty of room and folks can either get a tropical beverage (alcohol and non) on the pool deck or grab an adult beverage here.

Note / TIP - Throughout the cruise, If you or the kids want sodas, get these from the self service on the pool decks as you have to pay for sodas at the bars. Regarding the soda self-serv, if you can bring your own cups / containers with a lid / straw so you can get a full soda as the station has small paper cups only.

We've been on several and haven't had this problem - hopefully it's only a tiny fraction of people and I've heard that they have lots of cameras around so often catch stealers.

I plan to put our name on a post card from our state on our FE, not that we are looking for reciprocation but because we want folks to know how proud we are of our state and look kindly upon it.

Sounds great. Thanks for the gouge - will be there.

We did something similar. As we prepared out FE gifts, we put a sticky label on each gift with a To:DD8 or DS15 or DH/DW (just examples) and signed each sticky "From your friends from Texas in stateroom 90xx." Most of our DH/DW gifts are the state of Texas themed, however the kids are Disney themed.
It was our hope everyone in our FE group would know we are participating this way! I don't know if we did it right or not, but hope so!!!!

That is awful and I hope this doesn't happen to any of us.

On our last cruise, someone stole the one magnet off of our door that wasn't personalized. My boys were so upset! This year, they all either have our initials or last name on them. As for the FE, I've read that it is best to pass them out on sea days when people are in and out of their cabins more and the hallways are busier. Who knows? I always worry about things getting stolen, too. I just hope for the best because my kids LOVE the FE!

Just a thought on a post a while back about FE gifts being stolen and people not knowing. Would it be an idea if you are writing a gift tag with the FE gifts, if you put in the corner of them 1 0f 4, 2 of 4, 3 of 4, etc etc so you would be aware if one had been stolen? Although I find it incredible that people could actually do this on a family vacation of this kind.

Our family is going to be going at 900 mph between now and cruise with DW going out to San Diego for 10 days to bug DD and FSIL, I have a 3 day business trip and a week+ trip to Australia, we have a 2 day trip for DS college orientation and DS heads to TSA (technology student association) National Competition for a week.................. Just wanted to give some context as to why we went over our things to bring list yesterday. As such, thought I would pass along a couple of suggestions of what to bring with for some of the newbies...................
  1. Clothes pins / towel clips - used to hold towels on you lounge chair or to hold wet clothes / swimwear on verandah chairs
  2. Hotel room key cards or old DCL Key Cards, etc. The rooms have European type power switches and nothing works without a room key in a slot by the door. Yes nothing so when leaving your room and taking your key cards with you your power for charging mobile devices is off and so is the AC. So, we put any other hotel room key card in their so that things that need to have power while away still do.

  3. DCL does not like power strips with the long cords but between blow dryers, curling irons, charging mobile devices power outlets can be limited. Bring one of these things unless there is only a couple of you in a cabin
    upload_2016-6-13_15-8-51.png
  4. Liquid hand soap - DW does not like bar soap and all the "goo" it creates on the sink ......................
  5. Make sure to make photo copies of your passports and take picture on cell phone of passport - just in case.
