Just back from DVC and BCV this week.
On Member Day we took advantage of the discount on the "mouse" boats and rented a couple in the lagoon between Epcot and the Yacht Club. We had planned on the Member BBQ for dinner on Tuesday, but rain forced all the festivities indoors and dinner was cancelled.
To register you had to answer 6-8 questions related to DVC and then you got a special lanyard with a random pin. The rest of the activities were held in the "parlor" just inside from the BVC pool (along with a pay as you go bar) and "Goofy" bingo was on the floor in the hallway. Several characters including Goofy were lingering in the "rotunda" by the DVC desk. I went because I wanted to meet other members and maybe a few DIS Board friends. It was too hard to meet and greet other DVC members in the confined space, however.
I checked out the Member Day activities at Boardwalk as well since we also own there. They had a DJ in the Atlantic Dance Ballroom and were holding a hoola hoop contest for the kids when I peeked in. I went around the room, but the noise from the music also made it hard to converse with other members. Minnie and Mickey were due to arrive at 6:30 and I wanted to bring my kids back, but the rain made it impossible to get over there comfortably. We had already been soaked twice thru that day at MK.
In theory, the Member Day activities are a great idea...they just need to work on the execution. They could combine all the activities into the one location at Atlantic Dance Hall, but I think they would like to keep them separate and near the DVC offices for each resort.
They had a whole sheet of activities listed for the four DVC resorts in our check-in folder such as: Pool Party mid-day and 20% off all boat and bike rentals at OKW; Fishing Excursion mid day at BWV; 1 hr cruise with wine/cheese/soda ($30), Nature walk, pool activities and 20%discount on watermouse and bike rentals at VWL; and BBQ, pool activities (6-8pm) and 20% off boat rentals at BC/BCV. These activities probably change week to week throughout the summer.
