July 15-22 2006 Western Anyone?

That is what I liked about Playa Mia. I heard, but do not know for sure, that it is $31.00 per person, and you get the lunch buffet, open bar, sodas, snorkle gear, zoo, water "toys" etc. I went to the website, but I did not see actual prices. I think they say that it is about $15 for the taxi ride there. I have a feeling I will not know what we are doing for sure for quite a while.

I booked it through Disney and I believe the total was $210.00 for the 4 of us. I know I shouldn't have spent that much on a beach excusion but it's hard with Savannah & Zach just to hang out in Cozumel. I get nervous if I don't book my excusions with the cruise line. Usually Jon & I walk around downtown and hang out at Carlo's and Charlies. With the kids we can't do that this time. I'm hoping since we are taking a taxi (which is included) that we can leave when we want to. I can't see why we couldn't.

I hear that being onboard while at port is really nice. The pools and such are really empty. I would love to do that, but we have never been to any of these places and I would like to explore. I just don't know for sure what I would like to do.

I told my son to check the weather for Port Canaveral on Saturday and it said chance of isolated thunderstorms. My husband said that the weather in florida is just that. He was in Jacksonville, and there were pretty strong storms that would fly through there. I hope they decide to stay away that afternoon for the sail away party.

do not apologize for talking ....I for one, like reading your posts. :thumbsup2

Your husbad is right about the weather. We usually get an afternoon storm everyday. It comes as quick as it goes. You can never believe what the weather people say here. They are never right!

Thank you! :)

I just made the signs as if I was doing a scrapbook page.

Have fun playing Pictionary. My family is all asleep. Even DH. He gets up at 4:00am for work.

I really enjoy everyones pictures of their magnets.

We had a nice, but quick game of Pictionary. Our team was behind, and then we just took off with it. :woohoo:

I have heard a lot about Carlos and Charlies. What is this place like. Do they serve good food....good drinks? Where is it from where the ship docks...or I guess it is tenders that bring us in .

I do not blame you with small children. Mine are much older. I have one that is still pretty young, but there of 4 of us that will be with him. It will be an adventure.

Goodnight everyone. I have to get up bright and early . My DS has bible school, and I need to get some things done before that. I think I am going to retire early tonight.

Hope to chat a bit tomorrow. Happy packing, and sweet Magical dreams.

Okay, there has been a lot of talk about Cozumel. What are people doing at Grand Cayman? We have the Rum Point Beach excursion booked. It has an hour transportation each way, which I think is by bus, not boat.

After Grand Cayman was cancelled on our last Western, we thought we would do Stingray City with Captain Marvin's on this one. However, based on watching DD's interact with Stingrays on other excursions, I do not think they would enjoy Stingray City.

I think it was on our eastern, when one of the daily activities was family Pictionary. It was very laid back, but it was a nice fun activity.

I have been researching the beaches in Cozumel. Paradise Beach seems to be a good one. Has anyone ever been there? Paradise Beaach has free admission and free use of lounge chairs and umbrellas. Water sports are an additional fee. I had wanted to do the ruins, but I'm turned off with all the mosquito talk I've read on other cruise sites.
If anyone has been to Paradise Beach, I'd appreciate your input.
To everyone that is leaving for vacation: Have a safe trip! I am looking forward to meeting everyone on the cruise.
Oh. . . one other thing . . . has anyone done the Nautilus Undersea Tour in Grand Cayman?

Hi TandD--What was the "mosquito talk" you heard about? We were planning to do the ruins and beach excursion so I'm very curious about what you heard. Please help! Thanks!

Wishing everyone a restful night.

Gee I hope I can stay up this late when I am on board :rolleyes1

we are off to the airport! Noah woke up at 5:00 with a smile and a "today's the day!"

Safe travels everyone

Noahsmom's ticker reads all zeros!! I guess that means this is all for real and we all are going on vacation.

Carlos & Charlies is a fun drinking place. The waiters entertain, tequila shot conga lines and dancing. The food is o.k. and the drinks, well they now how to make a killer margarita!!! It's located downtown and it's 3 miles from the pier. Just a short taxi ride away. Then again I think the Disney ship tenders at a different spot then RCCL & Carival so it may be a short walk.

I know the kids would have fun there dancing a singing, but there are some things that I would rather them not see.

We are doing the Island Tour and Butterfly Farm. It makes stops at the Turtle Farm, Hell, Butterfly farm and the Rum factory. After the excursion we will head over to Senor Frogs for lunch. The kids wanted to do the stingray excusion, but the age limit stopped us. On our last Disney cruise we did one in Nassau and Savannah just turned 3 and she was allowed. Needless to say it will be a nice leisure day for us. This will be our 3rd time to Grand Cayman and I would have like to have gone to 7 mile beach, but I'm getting my beach day in Cozumel & CC.

It was just recommended that you bring bug spray for either the ruins or the horseback riding. I need to leave the house in a few minutes, but I will try to find the site where I read this and give you the link. I'm sure you will be fine and I certainly didn't mean to frighten anyone. In fact I thought that excursion sounded interesting. I will try to find the link later and get back to you. Hopefully, I will find it. I've been on so many sites! :surfweb:

In Grand Cayman, we are doing the Nautilus Undersea Tour. It is a short excursion and we will be back on the boat by lunch. Last time we cruised Disney in 2002, we did not book any excursions and the ship was really quiet. At times, we felt as though we had the ship to ourselves. I do really enjoy my time on the ship and don't want to miss out on that. There is so much to do onboard!

Hmmm, I would like to check that out, but if it is predominantly a drinking place, I guess I will have to wait until the kids are not with us one time. I heard someone say that they watched all the people stumble back from Carlos and Charlie's from their verandah on a Disney Cruise. :rotfl:

Gosh, it sounds like fun though. I guess I will have to get hubby to take me back to Cozumel.

Gales, I am not sure what we are doing in Grand Cayman. I have some ideas of shopping etc. I would like to find a nice beach there too. We thought about going to Hell. :rotfl2: My kids laugh everytime I say that. My 10 year old just giggles and giggles. We were going through all the options and voting for what we would like to do and I said, " I think I want to go to Hell," and he fell off his chair. Anyway, my husband would like to do that.

Wow!! This is for real isn't it. I am really getting nervous about flying. Wouldn't you know it, I saw that a Russian plane crashed this weekend, and then this morning I saw that a Pakistani ( I believe) plane crashed. I hate when this happens. It gets me so worked up about flying....and I am already as it is. I pray for all those lost and their families.

Who me? Frighten easily? :scared1: Uh, yep. Believe me, it doesn't take much. Please don't feel bad. I was kind of on the fence about that one anyway. I think the kids will be bored with the ruin part of it. I think we may just do the taxi to Paradise Beach. I've read many good things about it and the kids will enjoy it much more.
In Grand Cayman we are doing the Stingray excursion, nothing planned for Key West and DH and 11yr DS are doing the parasailing at Castaway Cay.
Thank you TandD for actually helping me make a definitive decision about that. Don't worry about the link, but I do appreciate it! :) I just can't be bothered with bug spray!

suziq14: I did try to locate the site, but no luck :confused3 I backed out of the ruins because of the kids as well. The beach does sound like a lot of fun.
I can't believe our cruising time is so close! I booked our cruise in Oct. 2004, so I've been waiting a long time for this. I hope to meet you on the crusie.
