July 15, 2012 - Magical Cruise to Canada!

Hi All! We are a family of 4 (myself, hubbie, daughter-11, son-8) sailing on our 1st Disney Cruise! So very excited! Anyone on board from Pennsylvania?

Hi! We as a family are not from Pennsylvania (we are from Indiana); however, my husband was born/raised in Pennsylvania.

I'm so excited that this time next week we will be at sea!

I spent the weekend sorting and packing.

10 day forecasts entertain me though. The forecast in Halifax 10 days out yesterday changed 3 times.

The forecasts are driving me crazy! Though, I am looking forward to getting out of this heat. I will be packing just as much I think as I would for a longer cruise b/c we will need heavier clothes!

It is going to be a long week and so excited to be able to cruise next week!

Of course, my kids are asking to jump in the pool asap once on board and just get pizza from Pinocchio's Pizzeria that isn't happening! That will likely be lunch more often than not and would prefer something on a ceramic plate on Day One

I can tell I'm ready for vacation. I just tried to check in for my Sat AM flight and couldn't figure out why it wouldn't let me. After 3 tries I realized oh wait its only Thursday.

Will they let him be in the 11 year old group at the kids club ? Cruising with him, my 5 year old, husband and my parents who are next door to us. Any advice you can give as to packing, the fish extender thing or anything else I need to know that may be different than the other cruise lines would be so helpful. Thanks so much !!!

Hi Stephanie...
The Fish Extenders are fabric bags, little totes that people hang off the fish ( decoration) outside the cabin door. Search this forum for pictures to get a better idea. This group closed our fish and magnet exchange about a month ago, but I would be happy to add you to my list, if you give me your cabin # you will find a small gift in it some time during the cruise.

Check with the kids clubs at the terminal about your son, i'm pretty sure he can be eligible for the edge, but honestly, I wish my 12 year old was still in the Lab..

Susan- your 12 year old can still go in the Lab on the Magic. The age on the Magic is up to 12. However they can also go to the Edge at 11 years old too. They choose one for the cruise and stick with that option. My 12 year old is hoping to stay in the Lab with her sister and brother and save the Edge for the next cruise.

Has anyone heard what the weather will be? If it rains (hope not!!!) do they still have the Sail Away party?

I just returned yesterday and noticed your question about sail away in rain. While I'm not sure about that they did do the pirate party in extreme fig and drizzle! Fog horn blew every few minutes. Mickey couldn't come down on the zip line due to fog so he walked down the stairs to the stage. Still Great fun though!!

Also re edge/lab. My daughter turned 13 on the cruise. She really didn't like the edge. Too open ended. I'd keep your kids in the other clubs if they are that age.
