July 13, 2008 - Cruisin' the Mexican Riviera

I have given your DDs email address to my DD so she should be contacting her soon. As a side note, if people want to give out email addresses you can always send the parent a private message with their DD or DS's email address through their Disboard account. That way we don't have to worry about posting them on the board.

Didn't someone setup a thread for the kids on this cruise? I saw it a while ago but haven't checked it since. I don't think anyone has posted on it yet so it could be lost at the end of the forum. But that is a good option for any of the kids who might want to chat before the cruise.

Susan

Hi there,

Maybe we could set up a distribution list for our young teen daughters? Mine is 13, and this is our second cruise. I know she would love to "meet" other girls (or boys) before she gets there.

I don't mind putting our email out here. : ) Its jdrichta at hotmail dot com. My daughter would love some friends before she gets there, so please feel free to ask you kids to email her.

Looking forward to a great time!
Jane

Tonight at 9 pm marks the 105 day mark for this cruise and I still don't know what excursions we want!

Wow! I screwed up my dates. Saturday night is actually when we can reserve. You should have seen me getting all flustered last night. Oh well. Will try again tonight.

Hi To Everyone who has already starting posting!!!

We originally booked July 20th, but, things change, so now we get to sail with you fine people!!!! :cool1:

Quickly, we are Connie-45 and George-48. This will be our fourth DCL cruise. We are taking George's DD12 and our niece-10 (I don't remember all our abbreviations-I'll have to get back in the swing).

I'm going back to explore the thread and get to know you, so feel free to reply to me. I'll be here from time to time!

Ready to have some fun!!!

Hi Connie

Glad you joined us. There are definately a lot of girls on this trip. I have two DD ages 11 and 14. This will also be our 4th cruise. Welcome aboard!

Good to meet you! I noticed that there are a TON of girls this age going...my girls are going to be stoked!

I got my reservations in!!! We are going to do the 4 x 4 Desert Safari in Cabo San Lucas, and the Canopy Adventure in Puerta Vallarta. I booked Palo for dinner for the third night and Palo for brunch for the 6th day. My DH and I are also going to do the Exotic Rasul after we get back from the Canopy Adventure. We are going to use Randi's Happy Horses in Mazatlan. My DD age 11 really wants to go horseback riding and I have heard really good things about Randi.

Sujo - If you would like to join us and 2 of our friends for our Palo reservations PM me your reservation number and I will see if I can add it to our reservation.

I would love to do Palo with you guys. I don't think I can reserve until 90 days out so I will make sure I put in for the night you have. What night are you doing Palo?

so, what seating does everyone have on this cruise? I have early seating. Are we all going to plan any dismeets on this cruise let me know all this stuff I met a lot of great people on my last 7 day cruise that were from the disboards and hope to meet all of you guys also :cheer2: :cheer2:

We're currently booked for late seating, but waitlisted for early. We'd rather have time (at the shows) to rest our stomachs before the kids hit the hay.

Does anyone know how to bypass the seating waitlist? We have a friend on the July 6 Riviera cruise who did just this. Maybe she had an influential TA or was a very squeaky wheel.

We have the early seating. We are three families (6 adults and 6 children ages 5 and under). I am just hoping they will be able to stay awake for the shows. popcorn::

I'm getting excited about the cruise, not that I wasn't before but as it gets closer I get more excited :cool1:
I just want to share with you all a picture

Hi everybody,
back again....
I cann't believe it is coming so quick. We are flying into Vegas on July 4th then coming into LA on the 8th and staying at the Residence Inn.
We will have to get a rental car and then I guess return it to the airport.
Any thoughts on how to get to the port from the airport then.
How far is the port from the airport?
I am thinking about dropping everyone at the port with the luggage then driving back and taking a cab? What do you think?
Our group has now expanded... so now we have Cathy (45), Kevin (DH 45)
DS 14, DS13, DD8, father in law, BFF-Dorothea(45), her DS 15, DS 13,
and our nanny- Eileen- she will kill me if I give her age let's just say 50+
We are all early seating.
Sounds like the teenager count is going to pretty high this cruise.
We have on the Magic more than 5 times- so my boys think of this as their other home.:woohoo:

by the way... does anyone know if Andy is still the cruise director.
He was 2 years ago and my kids and BFF fell completely in love with him

Andy isn't a cruise director for DCL anymore, last I heard he work for another cruise line

I just read the thread that talks about that
too bad he was awesome
It sounds like we are supposed to have Brent.
Reviews a little iffy on him though
Andy was soooo great
I've also had Racheal who we also loved

I haven't had Brent as a CD on a cruise, so I can't judge him yet. I heard it was either him or Christiaan, if it is Christiaan he is awesome had him on my Wonder cruise in september.

Hi all, we live in SoCal and are all excited to be going on this cruise. My wife and I have only cruised once before on Carnival when we first got married 9 years ago and our kids have never cruised. We are 43 and 37 and our kids are 1, 3 and 6 years old. Staying in 2 connecting cat. 9 rooms and looking forward to it. Kinda pricey but for a family of 5 our options were rather limited and I think the category 4 family suite was our only other option but it cost 1/3 more than the 2 rooms we got. No one else knows yet about our summer vacation since I was waiting until Mother's Day to surprise them. So if you hear a loud yell on that Sunday, it might be from them! Anyway, thanks for reading and I look forward to reading any tips or advice from you seasoned cruisers.
