**JULY 11, 2010*** Double Dip Wonder!

It's a Girl thing - dresses for weddings. I do not have a dress for the wedding yet, nor any idea what in my closet will be appropriate to wear for the wedding...Stacey - I do like your dress. It is very nice, but a bit more upscale than any of my casual clothes.....so perhaps a shopping trip is in order. :woohoo:

My "dress of choice" is the one I wear on dive boats and it will not do for the wedding...:bride:

Meanwhile since we used points, we are "Paid off" as well. :dance3:

Good Afternoon! hope everyone is doing well. Waiting for the snow Saturday here in New England. Did manage to order our door magnet for this cruise today so it's feels like it getting closer... :lmao:

I did it! It's official! I put the deposit down for my first Disney cruise! This is something I have dreamed about for 2 years and it's finally happening! Working a second (and sometimes 3rd) job while my husband was laid off brought me VERY serious doubts that I could pull this off but I did!! I'm excited on a whole new level!

Does anyone know what they do for kid's birthday celebrations? A cake? Announcement? Just curious.

Anyway, have a good day everybody - I know I will!

Congratulations! They will do a cake and such at dinner if you let them know of the occasion. You can call DCL and have them put a note on the record of "special events" such as this.

This is what we call the Happy Dancy - when something like that occurs....

Yes, call DCL and let them know. Actually, they should have asked if you were celebrating anything, but you may have used a T/A.

DCL may give her a button upon boarding -and they should at dinner. Remember to let your server know as well.

Also - you can either buy one of the Welcome Aboard Stateroom kits, or make your own. It will take some doing, but you can find birthday banners at the party store. It would be fun to do a Disney or Pirate or Princess theme. Then at lunch or dinner one of the adults can sneak out and put it up in the room. Remember to bring some clips to attach it to the curtain. No tape....The kids will think it was from Mickey.

Some fun Birthday Present ideas to extend the Magic (or is it Wonder)

Other ideas I have heard of (and I am not in with what a 10 DD would like - so bear with me- other's can chime in). Depending on luggage - find an inexpensive snorkel set for DD and wrap it in a Disney towel to lay out on the bed for a present before the first CC. You can rent them, but she may want a set in her own special color.

Buy a charm bracelet and let her select her special charms from the on-board store - WHO HAS BEEN ON BOARD LAST? THEY STILL SELL CHARMS YES?

Find an extra special set of Disney PJ's you can tuck under her pillow for the first night. Tinkerbell would be so cute.

Door signs - we make magnetic door signs - you can make a Happy birthday to DD sign with her favourite characters. There is lots of clip are available.

I'm sure this group will have lots more ideas.....

YAY!!! Congrats and welcome again!!! :cheer2::cheer2:

We've had a few birthdays onboard. We have them bring a cake to the dinner table, because the few times we had one in the room we didn't eat it all, so from then on we shared it with our tablemates.
I'm not 100% sure that they're still doing the birthday buttons (or pins) that were mentioned, but chip&Dale&fun (Irene) had some other really great ideas!
We have ordered the room decorations ahead of time, that's always fun. You can order those on DCL's website.

Thank you to everyone who is helping make this first time so special. I am SO GLAD I found you guys! I love all the tips and suggestions and hopefully I can help "pay it forward" to a newbie after July. Until then I will be a faithful reader and keep asking the questions. Have a good weekend everyone!:cloud9:

gaRRy,
Couldn't reply to you as I don't have 10 posts. Thanks though. I will get there soon then I will respond.

I'll ask you four separate questions so you'll get to 10 by answering. Yes, I'm silly.

1. Where do you live? I know you already said, but humor me.

2. What is the most number of foster kids you've had all at once?

3. What are you most looking forward to on the cruise?

For me it's the "downtime" and the water & beaches. I'm not much of a show person, I don't go to many, except the comedians, and I like the games they play...trivia and such.

4. Are you planning on a stay at WDW either before or after the cruise?

We haven't stayed long enough to visit the Mouse on our last several cruises, but this time we are going for a day or two before the cruise.

You guys are pretty funny! I am going to get my 10 posts in so here goes... I, my DH and DD are from metro Detroit. That's one!

Now for questions #2...about my foster kids. I try to take only one at a time as I put a lot of energy into them. I recently had two for a brief time but one was in the process of being adopted when she came to me (had to be yanked out of her former foster home as allegations of abuse and neglect surfaced). She was such a wonderful kid. Unfortunately she lost both of her parents in separate incidents by the time she was 7. Have been doing this long before my DD was even born. I also work in the child welfare arena.

Question 3... I think what I am most looking forward to seeing is watching my daughter's amazement and excitement about EVERYTHING!! I don't know why this is so emotional for me but it is. I read these post and just imagining her experiencing these things makes me teary. As for the actual cruise, I think CC is top on my list. I know this isn't going to be possible, but I just want to experience everything on this cruise. Reading about and seeing pictures of the wonderful food has sent me into diet mode so I can try it all!
