July 10, 2011--DIS PEEPS reunite on the Disney Dream!

We have been to London for a few days and fedex have been to deliver our cruise docs and tags, as we were not home they have returned them to the depot. They were really unhelpful and are going to try again next week but wont give a time  I want to see them!!:sad2:

What a great idea, think I will go now :moped: I will be known as the fedex stalker. I know we dont travel for a while but I want them now!

I haven't gotten mine either:sad1:. Would they come in the mail or will my TA give them to me? She only lives across the street.:confused3

Question for those not coming by air. Will I still get luggage tags? I'm thinking yes????

We can do Thursday. I'm thinking Des may need a sleep late day or a get off the beach earlier day. She'll be refreshed for a trek around the ship or this will bring on a nice nap!!!!

Anyone know how close the beach is to CI&S?

Yes you do -- the luggage tags are for your bags to get to your stateroom. You put them on your bags the morning you embark (get on the ship) so the crew can get them to your room. They will have your and Destiny's name on them (two tags for each of you) and your stateroom number and a letter (corresponding to an elevator my theory). It takes up to about 5pm for the luggage to make to your stateroom door.

My family is traveling for the first time on July 10. How do the meet and greets work? Also, what are fish extender gifts?

How many people actual dress formally on formal night? I would hate to dress casual and then feel out of place.

I don't think you would feel out of place if you didn't dress up. I have a dress I bought four years ago and if I can still fit in it I will be sort of dressed up.

My girls will wear a nicer dress and their "dress flip flops" while my sister and I will wear a nice skirt and top. I might get in a dress if I find one I like that I don't need a special bra to wear with it. In other words -- I will make my 13yo daughter take off the Nike shorts for a couple of hours.

Now, if this were a 7 night cruise I would go to the trouble to pack dressier outfits but -- it isn't so I won't bother.

Welcome! Meet and greets are just informal get togethers at the port or on the ship that someone sets up so that those of us who want to can meet and get to know some of the folks we've been chatting with on the boards for so long. No one in this group has set anything up yet, but I think we'll all be running into each other on deck with some adult beverages in hand! :)

The fish extender gift exchange is kind of like a Secret Santa thing where participants deliver little gifts to each other throughout the cruise. Here's a link with a good explanation http://www.disboards.com/showpost.ph...81&postcount=2 Unfortunately we closed our group about a week ago so people could have a final count of participants and get all their gifts ready.

Since it's your first cruise, feel free to ask any questions you might have. We have a good mix of DCL veterans and new folks so someone should be able to help you. :goodvibes

We don't actually have a "formal" night on the 5 night, just a "semi-formal", so even less need to worry about feeling out of place.

I agree; even on formal night you'll see people in shorts and jeans. Not my family, but if you're comfortable no one is going to kick you out of the dining room.

What she said. :) Maybe a skirt or a simple dress, nothing too fancy for us either.

Thanks for all the input. I actual have formal wear as I get to go to the prom each year. Yeah, my formal wear will not be coming this trip now that I know. :worship: This trip is all about relaxing for me.:cool1:

Did you every catch them?

Yes they arrived this morning! Its all so exciting seeing it in black and white. So relieved that not everybody is getting too dressed up, We will have so much luggage anyway without having to worry about formal clothes. We will be smart casual. I am was wondering if anybody knew if the car parking was secure? We will be in Florida for a total of 3 weeks and dont want to take it all our luggage on board so we were planning leaving it in the car at the terminal. We wont leave any valuables!

It probably is secure, but it crosses that threshold of comfort for me. What kind of rental do you have? If your car has a boot it would be fine since no one will see you are leaving anything -- as long as everything is out of view it shouldn't be a problem. I personally just wouldn't leave anything in the car that could be seen.

We have a large 4x4 SUV and although it has lots of storage you can still look in and see what is there. We fly over on the 6th and we are spending our first 4 nights in Orlando but when we return from the cruise we were planning to drive straight to Sarasota for 5 nights. Maybe we should think about leaving our cases at the hotel in Orlando and making a detour. We know the hotel staff quite well Im sure it would be ok with the. Better safe than sorry I suppose! Although we would not leave our valuables I would hate to lose any other stuff and the thought of anybody rummaging through my smalls (or not so smalls!!) freaks me out
