July 10, 2011--DIS PEEPS reunite on the Disney Dream!

My daughter (turning 5 on cruise) and I have the late seating. Does anyone know if other spots open up and we can switch to the early seating?:worship: At times I can get her to nap, but when I can't, she falls asleep pretty early and is not fun to awaken. I took a cruise about 10 years ago, but didn't really need to worry about this.

Okay, I just read that they have adjusted the height requirements for the Aqua Duck. It looks like 42" is now the cutoff. If this is the case, my DD will be able to ride.:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: Just in case, I'm not saying a thing to her. She will be so excited.

Do you ever find there is too much information on the boards? I was reading the thread about how long it takes to board and what time you should arrive. Now I am concerned since we are taking the DCL transfer from Pop Century we will have to wait hours in line to board and miss the buffet. I am going to have to stop reading or maybe pick out threads with positive titles.

I am now trying to decide (after reading a thread on how packed the pools were with everyone staying on the ship while at port) if we should go to Blue Lagoon instead of staying on the ship.

Hi Cam...just have them put you on the waiting list for the early seating. They had me down for late seating at the time of booking and they changed it weeks later.

hope the pools are not that bad...we only hung out the pools at night last year but just like everyone else, i definitely want to slide down the aquaduck a couple of times!

We've been to Disney every year, but this will be our first cruise and so excited it will be on the Dream! We have a DD13 and DS11 (he's so excited, he's already memorized the ship's deck plans). Would appreciate any tips you veterans have. :woohoo:

Welcome to the group! You are going to love cruising; it's a wonderful vacation. The DIS is loaded with information and don't be shy about asking questions; there's lots of experience in this group. :goodvibes

Thanks! Well, here's a question... My DD13 will be a a few months shy of 14 and was wondering if she would still be able to go to the VIBE. She's not too happy about not being considered a teen. She wants to hang out with kids her age and older like she does in her middle school. Of course, she also likes hanging out with younger DS11 on Disney Vacations.

I am coming by autotrain and wondering where to stay the night before the cruise. We may do sea world prior to the cruise. TIA:worship:

The autotrain, that would be neat. We don't have Amtrack or anything like that to take. Flying SouthWest out of Nashivlle (2 hr drive from our home). I have seen alot of threads talk about the Country Inns and Suites near the port.

Are there family dance clubs on the Dream?

No personal experience, but I've read on the main board that they've been letting older 13 year olds move up into Vibe if the parents request it, so she should be fine.

Thanks. As I'm new to DIS, it took me awhile to figure out how to navigate, but I finally found on the main board where they were discussing this very issue.
DD13 very excited to know that there are others on this thread with girls her age. She and DS11 very interested in having a meet and greet and participating in the FE fun. Is someone organizing one? Add us to the list!!

My family is planning on giving my daughter Disney Gift Cards for her bday. Can we use these on the ship or at CC at the gift shops???

I added you to the FE list. :thumbsup2

All your purchases on board and on Castaway Cay are charged to your onboard account (no cash, credit cards or gift cards accepted). But you can use your Disney Gift Cards to pay off your onboard account.

You can apply the gift cards directly to her KTTW card so she is only charging against her "money".

Hi everyone. It is now time for me to concentrate on this cruise. We just got off the Wonder on Sunday and had a great time! I miss it already, but luckily we have this cruise to look forward to...that and we booked a week on the Fantasy in April of 2012:thumbsup2 We would also like to be a part of the FE exchange, so LV Disney Fan, if you could add us to the list we would appreciate it! We did it on this last cruise and we all loved coming back to our room and finding things in our pockets!

Camikey, just so you know, you can let DCL know that the kids should not have charging privilages on their key to the world card. We have not allowed our kids to charge on their card, so that is not a problem. Everyone does get a KTTW card, as that is how they know if you are on the ship or not.

Will they give a 5 year old a KTTW? That could be dangerous.:scared1:

For minors you either authorize or not charging privileges. I did for my over 10's because they knew their "limits" but not my unders (I can't remember if that was even an option but I know I didn't and still won't for my 10 and 8yo because they just don't get limits). My 13 and 16yo know that one or two smoothies a day are OK and so is a packaged snack but no "shopping" without pre-approval and no buying smoothies for friends. They also know that if they buy an Arcade card I will take a strip out of their hide and then take that money out of their allowance account as soon as we hit land and my cell phone works.

That is a relief. When I tell my daughter that I don't have any money she tells me to go to the "money machine". :rotfl: I wish!!!!!! I was planning on only taking her near the stores when they are closed. She will have a little birthday money to spend.
