Julie's continual struggle (WW thread - comments VERY welcome!!)

Hi Julie!

Sorry to hear that your DS19 is causing you so much stress again. I definitely echo Lesli's sentiments and hope that you are able to find some time for yourself.

I hope that you have a healthy night!
Mike :goodvibes

:grouphug: Julie...

I hope that everything settles down for you soon. :goodvibes You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. :grouphug:

Take care, Julie. :grouphug:

I understand about your DS19. They really know how to stress us! Hang in there, hope today is a good one for you.

I'm so sorry to hear about the stress with your DS19. My brother had a similar adolescence--even the "I'll crash at my friends" period. The only thing I can offer you is that he eventually did grow up and is now a responsible adult, even though he still lives life on his own terms.

Sending prayers and :wizard: your way to get through this trying time!

I'm still here. Still hanging in there. Weighed this a.m. and still at 169.5. But, still no TOM and I'm so bloated feeling and swollen it's pathetic.

I"ll try to catch up more later. Gotta get the ebay packaged so I can mail it on the way to drop DD with DH for fencing. Need to avoid the extra driving if possible. Gas is AWFUL, but at least we are safe here. LA will have to deal w/ rising prices and displacement.

Later......

I'm SO swollen tonight. I didn't think I could feel more bloated, but I do. Haven't really had much water today, which I'm sure is the problem. Food ok.

I'm still going round with the Cyber Academy. DS19 is still in the Apt awaiting the sheriff to post the eviction papers. In NM, they can stay until the sheriff does that - rent FREE - and then they have 3 - 30 days to vacate. This is NOT a landlord friendly state (too many illegals).

I managed to do 20 min on the elliptical during the news this morning, and ALMOST made my Aug goal, but every day seems to keep getting away from me. Hopefully SOME day it will calm down.

I'm seriously considering getting a scooter or small cycle b/c of gas prices here. I think it would be worth it as we can ride cycles almost year round. We'll see.

More in the morning after my dreaded WI. I will BET I'm up significantly , and can't imagine it will really go down til the heat breaks and TOM finally appears.

 Julie,

I hope that things calm down for you soon. :goodvibes

You know... since we are both aiming for a 15 pound loss for our Thanksgiving challenge, let's strive for it together! Like you said in my journal, we CAN do it with God's help! :goodvibes What do you think?

I hope you have a great day today! :sunny: Take some time and do something special for you. :goodvibes

Hi Julie,

Hope that WI was not as bad as you were expecting!! Sorry too hear that the situation with your DS19 is still bringing stress. I hope that it passes soon!

Your bike/scooter idea sounds cool too! Save gas money and get the collateral health benefits. I hope it works out! :goodvibes

hope that you have a happy & healthy night!

Hi Julie!

Stopping by to see how you are doing. I hope that you are doing well and that weigh-in was good today. :goodvibes Take care! :goodvibes

Just checking to see how you are doing. Sorry things are still stressed with your DS19. Just hang in there and take each day one at a time.

I hear you about the gas. We have gone to using our small car and DH's motorcycle. I am also looking at getting a bike trailer for DS that I can hook to the back of my bike so that I can run around town with him to do errands. The $200 will be made up for real quick at these prices. Today, I loaded him in the wagon and WALKED to the store for a few groceries. At least it is exercise and much easier on the pocket book.

Hope that you have a good weekend. ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Every time I have a long post, it doesn't post! GRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!

I'll redo it in the morning. Time for bed.

Let's try this again!

I'm still here, still hanging in there. Weight is still holding at 169.5, but holding is fine for now. I'd imagine it will change soon as TOM finally decided to make an appearance in a big way yesterday.

DS19 is still in the apt waiting for the sheriff to come post the eviction notice. He has packed most everything in boxes, tho, so he can get out rather quickly. Still no job, no money. I filled his gas tank on Thursday. He came here on Fri & Yesterday for hours each evening, but does not want to move home. CAn't say the idea thrills me, either, at this moment, but I do want to see him back on his feet, employed, creditors paid, and back in college. Dreaming????? Hopefully not. Praying????? Definitely.

DS16 is finally straightened out with the Cyber Academy. Picked up books on Friday and he is almost 1/4 done with Graphic Design. It is PATHETIC. They recommend 1 hr/day and 2 days/lesson. He has finished 6 in 1 hour. We read a discussion board where a student was discussing 'conputers' with the teacher. Major was magor, very = verry, imagine = imahjon, also = allso, etc. VERY sad someone could be in High School like that. Claimed that by typing in DOS 'coads' he 'nocked' out TV's 1/4 mile away. Rather depressing. He is done w/ Alg 2 - w/ a 94 and English 10 w/ 93. Today he submits the 1st of 2 History papers, then we are waiting on paperwork from Chick Fil A for Work Study. Biology he has until 3/6/06 to finish so that won't be a problem. As he finishes classes at CA, we will pick up new ones. Right now he has only Chemistry, History, Psych and Graphic Design. English and Trig will have to be done later.

DD went to Freedom Fest w/ cousins all day yesterday and spent the night with them at a hotel up the street. We'll pick her up at Church. Said SUPERCHICK was wonderful, bought a shirt and had it autographed and got pics of them with the band. HS Fencing starts this week, but she won't start til next as she has a choir retreat next weekend up in the mountains.

Got my lab work back..... Glucose was 94 w/ normal being to 126, so not diabetic yet!!! I'm working to beat this thing. Triglycerides 116 w/ normal <150, Total Chol was 199 w/ normal <200. This is a bit high, but I forgot and had shrimp 2 days before and Cardio always told me that Shrimp & Hot dogs within about 10 days can throw a reading, so hopefully this will come down. HDL - the good Chol - was 60 ....WOO HOO!!!!!! Normal is >40. This is directly affected by exercise, so it just proved to me that WATP does work and I need to keep it up ALWAYS!!!! LDL (bad Chol) was 116 - normal <100, so that is up a bit which could be diet, also. My HDL is highest it's been Trig and LDL have been as low as 96 and total as low as 157, so that is what I'm striving for.

Hopefully I'll find a bit of time to get to other journals today. It's not that I'm not thinking 'bout all of you, just life is getting in the way. Hope all are having a safe, healthy weekend!

This had Better post!!!

Looking good, Julie! It is so nice to hear good news on lab work. At least you know you are healthy and the few areas that you need to work on a little to make them even better really aren't too bad, so you are doing great! I pray that you can beat the diabetes! That is my biggest concern for DH, but some days short of saying "do you want to end up like your parents or do you want to take care of yourself and be healthy for your children", I just can't get him to realize that some of his bad habits are leading him towards the higher risk.

I hope that you have a great day and don't worry, life gets in the way for all of us. ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Your test results sounds great! Good for you--it must feel so nice to know you're healthy and that your hard work is paying off!

Sorry to hear about your stresses with DS19 and with the cyber school. Sending prayers and :wizard: your way! At least is sounds like DS16 is making alot of academic progress and DD is happy with a full and rewarding schedule! Why don't they have cool programs/events like that for adults?

Wishing you a great Sunday and a wonderful holiday tomorrow!

Julie,

Big congrats on your great results at the Dr.! I had never read that about shrimp & hot dogs before, very interesting! You learn something new everyday!

Hope that you have a stressfree Sunday and a nice Labor Day!
Mike :goodvibes

Hi Julie!

It sounds like you have been super busy. ::yes:: I hope you have some time today to relax a bit and do something nice for you. :goodvibes

Take care!

Up late last night - school w/ DS16 - dogs up twice between midnight and 5 and up at 5:30 for the day....I am TIRED!!!!

Dentist this morning - filling and inlay(?) I HATE dentists, but oh, well..... I like having teeth!

Last night we had finger foods for dinner and I am SO swollen from the sodium. Between that and lack of sleep I'm YUCKY!!

After dentist I need to run mega errands, so will be out much of the day.

Tonight is open house at DD school. I will have Kashi & Yogurt for Breakfast, likely something liquid for lunch and soft for dinner. Not sure.

Have a good Monday, all!!

Hi, Julie! Sounds like you are super busy with the kids' schedules again, but I am so glad to hear that you are making time to take care of yourself and your health! Your test results sound great! Thanks for the info re: hot dogs and shrimp -- I have to get some bloodwork done and it is good to know about those factors ahead of time so I can avoid those foods.

Kee up the great work! I hope you have a wonderful day! :wizard:

Dentist was NOT FUN!!!!! Took over 2 hours, and the porcelain inlay they made in their in office lab DIDN'T work! My gums are too deep???? So, I have temporary GOO in it until they get the mail order lab to make a proper fitting inlay and get it here on the 15th. The single filling went quick but this upper back tooth took forever and it was so far back he basically had his whole fist in my mouth for most of the 2 hours with another person having to help hold my mouth open far enough ..... and I have a BIG MOUTH!!! It hurts!!!

Breakfast ended up being SlimFast on the way (3). Lunch diet tea (1/2 gallon) and 1/2 a scone (4). I will be having either WW mac & cheese or soup for dinner as my jaw is really sore.

I found really cheap flights through SW Ding fares this morning ($27 each way) for Phoenix so DD is thrilled I will take her to fencing there in Dec. I had told both kids that with gas prices, we would be needing to pick and choose. The location is such that the hotel I use has a free airport shuttle, free to the venue, and free to a HUGE mall we will just have to visit! YEAH!!!!! This is just she and I the week before her 14th bday. $145 air for 2 sure beats 7 hours driving and another hour thru Phx traffic and at least $200 - $225 in gas.

Tonight is Open House and Ebay time. Gotta pay for my tickets, now, before the bill comes!

Hope everyone is having a good Monday!
