I just listened to this week's discussion show and was surprised to hear Julie talk about Meyer's Twilight series. I began reading the series in August and finished all books within a week. I absolutely love the characters and am very excited for the upcoming movie to come out on the 21st.

Julie, do you have plans on reading the rest of the series? Are you going to see the film version of Twilight? I teach fifth grade and was surprised to see so many of my students reading the book and excited about the movie.

Anyone else excited out there?

Big Twilight fan here! My friend lent them to me and I literally read them all in just a few days! I love Edwards character, and the trailers look a lot like how i imagined him. I didn't imagine Bella like that though, so i hope it won't ruin it!

They are great books, well written and not to heavy!

I love the books too, and read the series in less than a week. As far as the movie, Edward looks perfect and Bella doesn't appear at all like I pictured her either. Hopefully I will like the movie ... can't wait to see it.

That's so funny. I think Bella is just perfect. I was having issues with Edward, but I totally think Robert Pattinson is really ideal for the part now. :)

DD just read the first one and is now hooked on the series. A group of her friends are trying to go to the midnight showing of the movie on opening night, but I'm getting too old for those "wee hours of the morning" pick-ups!

Yes, I bought and read all four books! I loved them! I took my time because I did not want the experience to be over. I think I read one a week for 4 weeks! Now I read nothing but baby and parenting books.

I am not really that excited about the movie. I will probably see it eventually, but I will not be there on opening night. I find that movies made after a book are never as good as the book.

Add me to the Twilight fans! I picked up the first book and, like a few of you, ran to the store after I finished it to read the rest. I had the following 3 books read in a weekend. I will be at the movie opening weekend and will probably just go on my own -- def. not DH's cup of tea ;) I find it very interesting comparing books to movies -- especially when I've read the book first.

Julie -- I read lots of parenting and baby books too before I had my child too! After the baby was here I was just too busy (and tired) to read almost anything for a while. So read up while you can! :upsidedow

I love the Twilight books. I have read them 3 times so far. I am really looking forward to the movie. The trailers look really good.

DH took the boys to deer camp on Thursday, and as I was aimlessly wandering around Super Target for over 2 hours because I *could*, I decided it was time to read something besides Harry Potter. My niece had recommended Twilight to me earlier this summer, so I picked it up. I was up until 3 am reading it that night! Off to work I went yesterday :surfweb: , and picked up New Moon after work, read until 2am this morning, and after work today I'm stopping to pick up the last two. Don't know why I didn't just buy them all last night. :rolleyes1 At this rate, I'll have them all done before the rest of my family gets home tomorrow night.

So much for my painting project while they were gone. :rotfl:

I love Twilight! I'm not as obsessed as some people are, but I adore the books. I am on Breaking Dawn now, and I'm almost done. My roomate and I are going to the midnight showing of the movie. I was not that excited for a while, but the newest trailer made me ecstatic!

I just bought Twilight today. I have a 4 day weekend and thought I'd see if it lived up to the hype. From the reader reviews I've read about it, it seems people either really love it or really hate it. I hope I really love it. I work at a library and the request list is huge for this, a couple of the girls there are very obsessed with the series. I just wish I hadn't seen the actors that are going to be in the movie before I read the book. Now I will have their image in my head.

Count me in. I read all 4 in about a week. We have about 12 neighborhood moms going to see it on the 24th, we thought we'd let the teenagers have their fun over the weekend!

DD loved Twilight! I have heard that after the second book they might be too adult for her. She is 11 and a voracious reader. She love suspense and fantasy books (in fact, she loves almost every genre), but is still quite innocent. So, I have no issue with references to kissing but would not want her getting into anything heavier than that right now. I have not had time to read them myself. For the moment I have told her that she has to stop at book 2.

Any thoughts?

Daneen,

I am going to PM you since I don't want to ruin the book for someone who has not read the last 2.

I read Twilight before it became popular and loved it. I've read all of the books except for the most recent one. But that's ok 'cause I bought the hardcover edition and I'm just waiting for the right time to get started. ;) Looking forward to seeing the movie although I have to agree with Julie, it probably won't be as good as the book is. Because of that, I'll wait until it airs on HBO or one of the other premium movie channels to see it. :thumbsup2

Huge Twilight fan here!! I read them all in 3 days...by the third day I locked myself in the bathroom for 3 hours to finish them.

Then I reread them again because I didn't want them to end!! (I have never reread anything before)

Two of my gf and I are going to the midnight show when the movie comes out...My first girl time since in 8 years I am very excited...

Twilighter here too!!!!! I ABSOLUTELY love these books!!! Waiting on Midnight Sun, and my BFF and I are going to the midnight showing. SO EXCITED!!!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :dance3:

Also, Edward was just like I pictured him, Bella looks like Bella in my mind but not her voice...she has an awkward voice about her.
