And this Judge is from Florida, no less

From the link:

Carl Clements, 36, wanted to spend his honeymoon at Disney World in Orlando, but as a registered sex offender he needed a judge to sign off on the trip.

That didn't happen.

"He can pick some other place. No self-respecting adult should go to Disney World on their honeymoon," Circuit Judge Peter Dubensky said in court last week.

OK, now I'm all for keeping registered sex offenders as far away from the Magic Kingdom as possible, but I can't say I care for the judge's reasoning. Apparently, he's not aware that many well-adjusted, self-respecting adults think WDW is a fantastic place to vacation without children, on their honeymoons, etc. I'm not sure what Judge Dubensky thinks newlyweds like to do on their honeymoons except, well, you know, but I'm guessing spending time in a world-class vacation destination is right up there on the list.

(Interestingly enough, I know Judge Dubensky personally, and he seems like a nice, reasonable guy, but it's obvious that, despite living less than two hours away, he has no idea of the extend of what WDW has to offer.)

this judge is obviously a prude for saying "No self-respecting adult should go to Disney World on their honeymoon," Circuit Judge Peter Dubensky said in court last week." i'm kind of offended that he said this. i want to WDW for my honeymoon. so i have no self-respect for myself that i went there for my honeymoon?

Maybe we should all chip in to give him a dose of the Happies!!! Donations anyone?

What a sad man. He should get out of his "chamber" a bit more!!!

Andy

Oh brother! Sounds like someone needs a good dose of pixie dust!

And for his information, Walt Disney World is the #1 domestic honeymoon destination.

rejobako, this judge may not be aware of how popular WDW is for honeymoons. If you do know him, I bet FTW will be more than happy to supply statistics for you to give him. There are people who "Just Don't Get It" My parents are that way. They just don't understand why I spent sooooo much money on DVC.

Oh well, we each have our own opinions...his is just skewed...

I'm convinced he's just terribly uninformed. I only know Judge Dubensky professionally, so I don't know whether he has children or how often he visits WDW. My guess is very rarely. Like many who don't care for theme parks, I'm guessing he thinks that's all WDW has to offer: a theme park for children. I'm sure we all know people who use the term "Disney World" when they mean "Magic Kingdom", because they have no idea that the resort is in fact a huge conglomerate of fun places with things for everyone to do.

As I said, in defense of Judge Dubensky, he's a wonderful judge and a decent guy, but he's also worthy of a bit of pity. He's lived within two hours of what is, IMO, the greatest vacation destination on earth for ALL ages, and he thinks it's nothing but a castle surrounded by kiddie-rides.

Hey, maybe it is a ploy for a free trip to WDW for him and his family?????

I usually don't read this board as I am only 15, but the title of the OP just caught my eye. I think thats a ridiculous statement to make. Even though I'm only 15, I would love to get married in the World, so I suppose that me and everyone else that got or wants to be married at the most magical place on earth has even less self-respect than someone who just honeymoons there. I honestly pity the guy. Just my opinion though.

The judge just sounds like a prude. Whatever, one less person in front of me in line. :teeth: (Well, since the judge won't approve their honeymoon, 3 less people in front of me in line ;) )

I was juist going to say the same thing. We honeymooned at WDW 15 years ago!

Well I must have no self respect at all. I not only honeymooned there, but got married there! I wonder what the judge would have to say about that?
I really do feel sorry for him though, he doesn't know what he is missing. I would love to live where he lives. There is so much to take advantage of.
