Im going on a Sunday on early August. Its probably gonna be a full day at MK. So wanted you guys to judge my plan. Maybe im assuming shorter lines when they're actually gonna be way longer. So please help?

We're a family of 6, with just adults and teenagers. No kids so we got no problem of walking a lot or doing the big rides. We obviously haven't gotten the FP+ yet but were hoping to get those times.

Is it gonna be too hard to get too? Ive heard the Anna and Elsa meet up is gonna be gone by August, am I right?

Also, should we make the Kona Cafe ADR before 7:20? We're gonna be at the Poly btw.

7:20 AM Kona Cafe ADR

8:40 - 8:45 AM Welcome Show

8:45 AM - 9 AM Peter Pan’s Flight I read somewhere the people that go during Rope Drop don't enjoy the interactive queue that much. Why is that? can't we just go at a low pace? And still hopefully do it in 10-15 minutes?

9 AM - 9:40 AM Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain (as many rides as we can)

9:45-10:15 am Haunted Mansion

10:15 am - 10:30 am Seven Dwarfs Mine Train FP+ Im assuming it will take 15 minutes as its FP, but maybe its more? what do you guys say?

10:30 am - 11 am Under The Sea - Journey of the Little Mermaid

11:00 am - 11:30 am Mad Tea Party

11:30 am - 12 pm Space Mountain FP+

12:05 pm - 12:25 pm Main Street Trolley Show

12:30 pm - 12:45 pm Buzz Light Year FP+ Is it really worth it? I was planning to take a FP+ on this considering we would have done Space, Splash, Big Thunder, Mine Train and Peter Pan by then during the early morning with short time rides, but not sure if I should just take a FP+ on any other ride? Maybe Pirates of the Caribbean has longer lines?

1:00 pm - 2:00 pm QS LUNCH + TRY TO GET A 4TH FP. Is it too hard to get a table at 1 pm at Pinocchio's Village with a view to Its a small world? Or any other recommendation to a MK Quick Service place thats good?

2:00 pm - 2:30 pm Dream Along with Mickey

3:00 pm - 3:30 pm Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade

3:30 pm - 7:00 pm Maybe go back to rest to the Poly, or maybe stay there and rest in the park, maybe do some rides like Mickey's Phillarmagic, It's a Small World, The Barnstormer, or meet a character like Merida. (Btw, is meeting Merida during the afternoon too impossible?. I could do a 30 min wait or so but more than that is probably way too much).

7 pm - 8:30 pm Be Our Guest ADR

8:30 - 9:15 Dumbo I heard its pretty cool at night because of the new lights and stuff. So should I do this or Astrorbiter that's also a really cool ride to do at night.

9:15 - 10:00 pm Celebrate the Magic + Wishes. I just wanted to know - Wishes is scheduled for 10 pm, but the park closes at that time too? Is it a web page mistake or that just means Wishes is the last thing to happen at the park?

I would suggest going to BTM and ST first and get a FP for PP. This will eliminate the travel back and forth to fantasy land. Merida is very popular and her line is always long, I would suggest seeing her in the morning.

We did Peter Pan and rope drop and enjoyed the interactive queue fine. We took our time walking down Main Street and even stopped to take a picture in front of the castle, and by the time we were in the Peter Pan queue, there were enough people ahead of us that we had plenty of time to saunter slowly and take it all in. (And even if we had been there earlier, we could have simply let people pass us by in the queue had we wanted to.)

We intentionally did not do a FP+ for Peter Pan, because we didn't want to miss the interactive queue.

I don't know that you'll get the Mine Train done in 15 minutes, but I don't think Under the Sea will take 30 minutes, and I don't think Mad Tea Party will take 30 minutes, so you should have plenty of time there to catch up if Mine Train takes longer than expected.

By 12:30, I think the Buzz wait will be long enough that you will be glad you have FP+ for it. But I also think the same would be true at that time of day for Pirates, Jungle Cruise, Haunted Mansion, etc. so FP+ for any of those could be valuable. Maybe you can get a 4th FP+ for one of them.

Thanks for the advice.

Do you think that by 12:30 we could get a 4th FP for Pirates of the Caribbean? We're debating wether if our 3rd FP should be for Buzz or for Pirates. And of course, what are the odds we will find a 4th FP for the other one we don't choose. We really want to do both but I have a feeling they will have long lines by the time we can ride it. As you can see, my morning is filled up with the busiest rides so we can get them done before the park gets full of people.

Yes, but I'm not sure how far out the return time might be. Maybe about 3:30 or so?

It would make sense to use a FP+ for Buzz while you are still in Tomorrowland, and then do Pirates as 4th FP+ because you probably wouldn't get over to Adventureland until after the afternoon parade.

Personally I think your times are way to tight. The Welcome show doesn't really start until 8:45.....Also what happens if your on an EMH day..........it starts at 7:45 then .......... Next you plan to get from the Welcome show to Peter Pan's flight.......you running? :-) Your walking past the Haunted Mansion to go to Splash and BTMR (ok I guess I understand since your then coming back to 7DMT.......but again the times are tight). Why not go from PPF to 7DMT......than you may be able to do standby. If you don't get the FP's this might work better..........and if you do get the FP's........you ride 7DMT 2X :P In your plan you go from Space Mountain............to Main St or at best the hub area..........then back to Tomorrowland. Your zig-zaging.....why?......I'm exhausted reading it.............and your going to have 6 people with you. Remember its also August...........so it could be crowded and it will be HOT o_O.

Personally I think you're over planning. I just don't see you doing Peter Pan by 9am.........then get to and doing both Splash and BTHMR by 9:40...........I just don't see it.

You're definitely gonna need that break in the afternoon..........after this power tour:-) If you back off a bit and pick say 3 attractions that are MUST DO's........Plan around doing those things. They can be FP's but that wouldn't be a requirement. You'll be surprised how much you can get in. Then when you have your FP's you have more flexibility if the times aren't the best............which you're "hoping" you can schedule all before 12:30.........what if you can't? You can also stop and maybe shop a bit........meet a character or two............listen to the Dapper Dan's. If that isn't your thing............at least you won't be running from place to place.

I'm a fan of heading to Tomorrowland or Frontierland at RD. We've been able to do Splash or Space Mtn twice that early in the morning. We just started watching the FOF parade from Frontierland on this last trip in Dec...........its an awesome view and not nearly as crowded as in front of the castle. If you slow down.........you could maybe spend the entire day at the MK and enjoy everything on your list.........with no need for a break.

Hey in the end its your plan..............no matter how it goes have a great vacation! pixiedust:

Do you know if it is an EMH day?? If so the only lands that are open in the morning with EMH is Fantasy and Tomorrowland. Learned that the hard way, and another tidbit if you plan on Splash Mountain.. it is one ride that closes at closing while the rest stays open during late EMH.

Here's my take.

We love the Poly! 7:20 Kona is fine, you'll make it to the MK easily.

Peter Pan, Splash Mtn, and BTM all by 9:40 is too much. I think you could do BTM and Splash (riding them 1 or 2 times, maybe BTM a few times in a row if you go there first) but after Peter Pan, you'll be spending 15 min in line there, time for that ride, and you'll walk over to Frontierland and be rolling in there at 9:30. The Splash Mtn ride itself is like 13 min long!

Then I think you've overstated the HM time, so maybe it'll work out as you'll gain a little to your schedule here. I would reverse these, hit them in order. PP - HM - BTM - Splash.

SDMT FP+ is insanely fast. You get thru in 10 min. But you need time to cross the park to get here.

So by noon, you've got PP, HM, BTMRR, Splash, SDMT, Mermaid, Teacups, and Space Mtn? You've got to average under 20 min per ride including getting there, waiting in line, and riding the ride in order to pull that off.

I think it's too much, and too over-planned. You've got it down to precision like stopping and watching a passing show for 10 minutes. You are missing out on time for the hundreds of things that will just happen! Places you'll wander and things that will catch your attention.

I would plan your FPs and the fixed-time events. Leave "filler rides" like the Tea Party totally unplanned. These are things you just fit in when you're passing and someone stops for a snack and you decide to ride it.

You could try to hit lots of the kiddie rides at night, you don't necessarily have to plan on Dumbo OR Astro. They shouldn't have huge lines at this time.

I would not anticipate going back to the hotel 3:30 to 7. With 1/2 hour each way, you're looking at about 2 hours there, which is not really rest. If you can, move your BOG ADR to 4pm. Then, you've had dinner there, and you can decide at that point -- stay in the park or go back to the hotel and swim. Our party would likely split up at this point with half doing each.

Maybe loosen your windows a bit. It's better to have more time and pick up a filler ride in between things than to feel like you're behind schedule all day.

Thank you all for your kind advice!

Yeah, thank you for your advice! Ive re done my plan to make it a little less tight in the morning so we can take it slow. Specially cos 2 of the members of our family are on their first visit to disney so we would like to make things calm also, show them around places, take photos! oh and btw, no EMH day and I read somewhere that the Welcome Show is now 8:40. It says on the disney page :) its good though cos more time for guests at the park! yay!

Sadly, not and EMH day! However we will be going back to MK our last day at WDW to do a half day with EMH from 10pm-12am.

Then I think you've overstated the HM time, so maybe it'll work out as you'll gain a little to your schedule here. I would reverse these, hit them in order. PP - HM - BTM - Splash.
I will be definitely changing my plan to this one! much better! thanks! Also I don't think we'll be going back to the Poly. We do eat quite late dinner so we might do our ADR at 7:30 pm still but ill be definitely be taking it slow during the afternoon in the park and as you said, do all the kiddie rides at these time :) cos tbh our night will be filled up with our BOG ADR, Celebrate the Dream and Wishes! Thanks also for letting me know the SMDT FP is really fast.

Okay so my new plan is kind of like this. Any better?

7:20 AM Kona Cafe

8:40 - 8:45 AM Welcome Show

8:45 AM - 9:15 AM Wander around Main Street and then do Peter Pan, no Rope Drop/running lol

9:15-9:45 Haunted Mansion

9:45-10:15 Big Thunder Mountain

10:15 am - 10:45 am Splash Mountain

10:45 am - 11:15 am Pirates of the Caribbean

11:15 am - 11:45 am Magic Carpets of Aladdin/Maybe meet Aladdin or another character

11:45 am - 12:00 am walk around

12:05 pm - 12:25 pm Main Street Trolley Show

12:15 pm - 12:30 pm Space Mountain FP+ (make the FP+ reservation at 11:45)

12:30 pm - 12:45 pm Monsters INC

12:45 pm - 1:00 pm Buzz Light Year FP+ (FP+ 12:45)

1:00 pm - 2:00 pm Lunch @ Any QS

2:00 pm - 2:30 pm Dream Along with Mickey

2:30 pm - 2:45 pm Meet Mickey Mouse @ Town Square Theatre

3:00 pm - 3:30 pm Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade

3:30 pm - 3:45 pm Seven Dwarfs Mine Train FP+

3:45 pm - 7:30 pm Try to do as much as Fantasyland rides we could do. Possibly Journey of the Little Mermaid, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, it's a small world, Mad Tea Party, Mickey's PhilharMagic, and Meet Merida or another character. Also try to do our 4th FP+ here.

7:30 pm - 8:45 pm Be Our Guest

8:45 pm - 9:30 Any other rides with little wait time.

9:30 pm - 9:45 pm Main Street USA - Find a spot

9:45 pm - 10:15 pm Celebrate The Magic + Wishes Fireworks

Im assuming all the morning rides are taking me 30 min. I know they won't but possibly with the time it will take us to walk in between and take photos, it might be 30 min overall.

I like it! There's some flexibility there now................you can modify it as you get closer! Thanks for the update on the Welcome show............we'll use it when we're back home in November :-)

Don't forget to look up! There's a bunch to see above the sight line.........especially on Main St.

Remember its August so be sure to hydrate continuously.

Again, have a magical vacation! pixiedust:

When we go in the summer, I plan an hour for things. For us, I think it has been spot on. If you can do the EMH (MORNING), That is a great time saver. We did PPF one time twice and pretty much walked on.

We will start out at the left side of the park in standby lines, FP PPF,7DMT, and maybe splash later on during the day.

I wouldn't go all the way down Main St. to meet Mickey and then go back to 7DMT. I would meet Mickey either on the way in or out of the park.

Thank you all!

So what do you guys think of meeting Merida during the afternoon? Should I expect it to have a really long line? Ive heard some people even do it first thing in the morning to avoid lines. we do have an extra day at magic but we will also get there at the sfternoon after a day at Epcot.

I would use touring plans to develop a schedule.

Is it worth it? How much it costs?

Oh no, we're already going to be at Main Street for both the parade and the Dream Along with Mickey show :)

Unfortunately on friday, when MK has morning EMH, we will arrive from the Disney Dream so we wont be that early at the parks :(

Touring plans is 7-8 dollars. Maybe 12. But it will create a schedule optimized for the day. I mention this because it creates ride heavy plans. You can optimize for distance walked, time in lines, etc.. I think it is exactly what you are looking for based on your initial plan.

It looks great! My only suggestion is I'm not sure if 15 minutes is long enough to meet Town Square Mickey at 2:30 in the afternoon? I would think there would probably be about a half hour or so wait at least at that point. You might just want to go get a place for the parade instead and save meeting mickey for later in the day!

Yeah I noticed that might be little time to meet him. So the parade usually gets to Main Street around 3:20 right? If thats the case, is it still risky to go meet Mickey at 2:30? Or should I do it during the Electrical Parade? were not a fan of it. (but is he still taking pics during the parade?)

Yes, I assume that each attraction will take an hour. Including wait time and attraction time.
Yeah im thinking an hour for afternoon attractions is on spot lol. Summer wait times can get loooong.
