Juan says "BAAAA!" - 12/24 - Our last few Disney hours. COMPLETE

AWWW....Henry's haircut looks great! I hate those moments when your baby looks like a big person....Amelia has had a lot of those recently.

I am from St Louis so if you guys are planning a longer trip her next summer and want any family friendly suggestions (there are TONS here!)for things to do feel free to ask! Amelia is just a little younger than Henry so I have a good idea what would be fun for him. I could even mail you some of the brochures/coupons that we get every once in a while!

Awww...Henry does look bigger/older but just not a baby but definitely still a little guy...:goodvibes

so cute...

that barber looks like he was really awesome with him...:goodvibes

Wow-I can't believe you are past your 30 day mark...that will be here before you know it...:thumbsup2

Wow, no way would I have the patience to wait that long. But I cute hair, so I wouldn't go there in the first place. LOL! But that is a LONG wait.
He looks so hansome tho!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!

As I just posted on my PTR, today we are thankful for many, many things. One of them just happens to be that today marks 30 days and we can start our countdown!!! :yay:

I am also thankful for all of you. I love coming to the DIS, reading your reports, reading your comments and forming friendships due to this common bond we have. I think of many of you on a regular basis-it's like I know you in real life-and hopefully someday I will have the chance to meet even more of you face to face! So thank you, thank you for your friendship, your care, your concerns, your encouragement.

I agree with you. We do create nice bonds here :)

Very cute update. He does look so much older! Hope you Thanksgiving was fun and le tthe countdown begin!!

What a difference a haircut makes! He does look so grown up and it seems to happen so quickly :goodvibes

A mom I know was telling me she still sometimes has to remind herself she no longer has little ones to buy cute little kid presents for seeing as hers range from 11 up to 20!

Like you I'm lucky enough to be at home with my 2 and time still flies by -although even I'll admit to thinking 'roll on bedtime' now and again! :lmao:

Awesome updates! Amazing job waiting that long and not going crazy. Loved the haircut. You're right, it's amazing what a simple trip to the doo will do. Tahli cut her hair short right before our trip and she looked two years older. Which made me a bit sad.

Hi Brook!
I was away for Thanksgiving, sorry I fell behind! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE all the haircut pics of Henry! He does look sooo much older with the big boy cut! It's amazing how much that can transform those little guys! He looks soo cute and like he did a great job sitting in the barber chair!!!:thumbsup2 Thanks for sharing!

Hope you guys had a nice Thanksgiving!!!! :goodvibes And you're so right, I"ve met some of the nicest and closest friends from DIS!!:lovestruc

ahhh...now I want to have Maclaren's hair cut while we are there in January. right now he is my little mop-head with hair that always falls straight across his forehead. maybe we need a more extreme hair cut like Henry got. You are right though...from baby to little boy with a few quick flicks of the scissors! although, have to say...don't know that I could wait patiently for that long...you deserve momma of the year for that one! :)

dawn

OMG Brook!! The haircut pictures are too cute!! I LOVE them!! Your a braver mom then me! I don't think I can let go of the baby hair yet!!! I can't believe you waited 2.5 hours!!!!

The pictures of Henry getting his haircut are so cute! I can't believe you had to wait 2 1/2 hrs though :scared1:

Crowds are looking good for a day at Epcot :thumbsup2

Thank you!! The 2.5 hours was sooooo long. Especially since I was standing almost the entire time in the same spot! :sad2:

2.5 hours! Oh my word! Was that his very first haircut? How precious!! And he does go from baby to big boy. He's adorable!!

It was his third haircut, 2nd at the Main Street Barbershop. His first was also there, and then we paid his now-former day care provider to do his 2nd cut. I'm too scared to do it myself, and she does her kids all the time! The Main Street Barbershop is a really fun place to get it done though, they are so good with the little ones!

Love the hair cut pics. Henry goes from looking like an adorable baby to a handsome young boy. :)

He grew up in just minutes! He told me yesterday "No baby Mommy." So I asked if he was a big boy. "No." "Are you a little boy?" "Yep!" I can handle that. ;)

This is a GREAT picture.

Thanks!!! It pretty much sums up the whole event. :goodvibes (and the relief of being DONE with the Barbershop!)

Mmmmm, chocolate croissants for breakfast -- one of my favorite indulgences!

I cannot believe how long you waited at the Barber Shop! I never would have lasted!

Henry does look so grown up with his haircut!

I do believe that was my first chocolate croissant. It; however, will NOT be my last. ;)

The 2.5 hour wait was slightly annoying. Just when we all thought it would be our turn, ANOTHER person from the one family would stand up. :headache: However, it was made more bearable by the incredibly friendly people I waited with!!

Where else but on Main Street would you wait that long for a hair cut! Henry looks very handsome.

After Liam's first hair cut at Disney which went really well btw, I now have to cut his hair while he is sleeping in bed!

I know it, insanity does set in at times in WDW. ;) It was worth it though! I enjoyed my visit with the others in line, and they did a great job.

I haven't built up enough guts to cut Henry's hair myself. Joe used the clippers once on the side and I couldn't even watch. I like the idea of doing it while he is sleeping though, perhaps I can brave that...

Awwww, what sweet pictures from Henry's haircut! So cute! :goodvibes

Thank you! It was a really nice time.

Awww, what a cute series of pics! And how fast he changed!

Thanks!! It's amazing how much a simple haircut can make them grow up, isn't it? Right now we are growing out his hair. :rotfl:

Yummy bkfst treats and a great haircut. Sounds like a fun morning!!

It was! It was a looooong morning, but we didn't have a big agenda and were just taking things slow, so it worked well for us.

Yep, it is about a pt more per night if you are staying at a Studio! Yeah, staying for a week on land does sound good! We tentatively plan on coming in on Friday and stay til Dec 24th :). That is if I get out of CC debt. My cousin is getting married in Tampa in October so we are going to try to get AP's and stay October then our trip in December and then again next October when Walt Disney World turns the big 40!

I think I will write it! I don't know how much I will remember, but I probably would remember more now, then I would remember if I waited even longer. I do still have all the outline and order of the things we went on and I do have a year to write it almost! Thanks for the encouragement! Oh yeah, and I did start a PTR, there is a link to it in blue in my siggy!

Ohh...you are coming to Chicago! Maybe we could plan something and meet up...if you have some time! We have free passes to the Brookfield Zoo ;). I love St. Louis too! We are hoping to take Aaron there next summer! We wanted to take him this summer, but we just ran out of time.

Yeah the C25K is really easy, so far....but I am still only on week 1, I start week 2 Friday! I would love to be able to run 5 miles without stopping:eek:.

Love the new update! What a transformation! I take it the Barbershop doesn't take appointments!! 2.5 hour wait! I wouldn't of had the patience, that is awesome!

Nope, the Barbershop doesn't take appointments, I understand why they don't, but it would have been nice that day if they had! The people in line truly helped the time pass a bit better, they were all so nice and we just chatted about everything in life from babies, to money, to DVC, to whatever. It was great!

I like your idea of October 2011! I hope they do a big celebration. October is SUCH a nice time to be there too. Hmmm....:scratchin

Yep, I am coming to Chicago! And I LOVE your idea of the Brookfield Zoo! I haven't been there since I was probably 14 or something! Is the double decker carousel still there? I was always fascinated with that when I was a kid. I've never been to St. Louis, so as the time gets closer, I may be calling on you for assistance in planning. :goodvibes And as the time gets closer I'll let you in on details so we could meet up!! I would love that!

Boy he looks so grown up with his haircut. You are way more patient than me... I would never wait that long for well, anything!

Those chocolate croissants are totally fantastic.... unfortunately none were bought or ate by me this trip.

I was tempted a few times to leave the Barbershop, but I knew the time would go quickly by once the one family was done with everyone getting their hair done. And it was - plus, the company of the fellow crazy people in line was really nice! In general though, I would NEVER have waited that long if there was a wait time posted! :rotfl:

I think a chocolate croissant is an excellent reason to have to go back to Disney World. ;)

Love all the haircut pics!!

My little boy...would have stayed 'little' cause I'd never have had the patience to wait that long:rotfl2:

Yum...chocolate croissonts....yuuuuuuuuuummmmmmmm!!!I want one!!

Paula

:lmao: I think if Henry had been in there waiting with me I would have lost it and gave up. But the adult conversation kept me in line.

All this commenting on the chocolate croissant makes me want one too...so good!

Did you tell the barber how you wanted Henry's hair actually cut?

You are very, very close with your guess!

Not really, we just said "a trim" - he kinda took it from there with spiking it and all. On Henry's first hair cut the barber just asked, "Should I boy him up?" and we said "yep!". I did notice they asked for most patrons though, like the Grandmother getting her hair cut, it was like a true hair cut-she had him trim more off the back and all. I think just with the little ones there is only so much they can do.

Nice update. I just might have to get my haircut there, its reallly long right now.. On my last trip I noticed that carwash thingy by test track, kinda funny to walk thru.. World Showcase is my favorite so Im excited.. :woohoo:

It's a fun place to get your hair cut, and it's cheap, $14! Plus they will offer you colored hair gel and pixie dust. :goodvibes

I think my World Showcase pictures might disappoint you....:rolleyes1

I can not believe you waited 2.5 hours for that haircut. You are a real trooper. But those pics make it completely worth it! It takes me right back to Brian's first haircut when all his curls ended up on the floor. Henry looks so handsome and so happy. I absolutely love the pics. Thanks for sharing.

A trooper, or a nut. Which ever. ;)

Henry is just the cutest. I know I say this all the time but he is...so there. :rotfl:

I can't believe how much the haircut transforms him from baby to boy. Crazy!

 Thanks LL! I never tire of hearing those comments about Henry, so I don't mind! The other day a woman told me he should model! It was so sweet.

It is NUTS how much a simple hair cut can change a little one! It's hard to take in ways, but exciting in others.

Awww he looks too cute getting his hair cut :cutie: and even cuter with his big boy hair cut. You took some great pics. Can't believe how long you waited though, gotta commend your patience :wizard:

Thank you! While the wait was long, it didn't seem that bad due to the great company I had while waiting in line. I think Joe was getting ready to call it quits though, he kept coming back to see if I had made it any further!

So cute, and so grown up!

Thank you! And I know even now he looks even more grown up! :guilty:

Yep, that was our barber guy, too. Luckily, we didn't wait as long as you did for him. That was nice of Joe to get you a mug for holding his place, though, huh? :)

The haircut pictures are cute. Everything little kids do in Disney World is just so much 'funner' than it is out here. Haircuts at home are just haircuts. Haircuts in WDW are events.

Hope you guys have a great day! Keep counting those days down until our trips!

It was very nice of Joe to think of me and get that mug!! I think I'll have to "take one for the team" more often...;)

I agree! Normal everyday stuff becomes and event at Disney World. How do they do that???!

Can you believe we are so close to our trips? I get overwhelmed thinking about how much I have to do yet...including get this TR done!

wow, I don't think I would have waited that long for a haircut either, 1/2 hour is my limit. But he sure looks adorable being "tickled" and very handsome outcome!

2 questions:

did you do the dining plan? If so, how does the MS bakery breakfast work (what do you get for what credits?)

do you loop futureworld on your way into Epcot from MK, or out, or both? We had a car last year and will again in the spring but I may have to work in a monorail somewhere in there!

Our first hair cut at the Barbershop was much quicker-we waited maybe 15 minutes or so? We went in the afternoon, while I think most families do go in the morning.

Q1) This past trip we were on the Quick Service Dining Plan. At the MS Bakery for breakfast I know there are a couple options. Looking at my receipt I see we used two CS credits for everything. I think it was 2 pastries, plus 2 drinks. And the other was 1 sandwich and 1 pastry (or bagel) - no drink. If I recall correctly they let you substitute a pastry for a beverage if you'd like, but a sandwich counts as both your entree and a side (which is silly, IMO!). Does that make sense, or am I just confusing you more?

Q2) When you monorail from MK to Epcot you loop Futureworld. On the way out, I think you just go straight there....come to think of it, I'm not sure I have ever gone from Epcot to MK. Hmmm. But I know for SURE on your way INTO Epcot from MK you go through Futureworld. It's very cool, I love that little trip on the monorail.

Awwww, Brook, Henry looks sooo adorable! I love the series of pictures you took! He sure is a cutie! And now your countdown is getting very serious! :thumbsup2
Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Thank you! That countdown is looking very, very serious. And making me nervous! Too much to do!

We did have a great Thanksgiving! It was a very fun day for everyone. Henry played so hard with his cousin. Did you have a good one too?

I love the pictures of Henry getting his haircut! I cant wait to get my little girls haircut next year when we are there. She will have just turned 3. My other dd didnt have her first haircut until she was 4, so hopefully I can hold out that long. I love the Main Street Barber Shop experience. DH, DS and DD have done it many times. Henry looks so much like you Brook in the picture of both of you smiling. Such a handsome boy! You will be back in Disney before you know it:thumbsup2

I hope you can hold out too! It's so fun to get their first hair cut there, with the ears, the certificate and everything. It's so special.

And thank you for the compliments! Most everyone calls Henry Joe's little clone, so it's nice to hear every once in a while that they see me in there too! :rotfl: I can see me in his eyes and cheeks sometimes. :goodvibes

What a great find for me this morning. A trip report with Henry and co. Great report again!! I have been out of the loop because we finally got to move to FL! About 45 min from the parks in Viera. Dont give up it took us 3 long years to sell our house and there are some great deals down here. Glad I got to spend my morning reading your report. The wait for that haircut was crazy. CSR looks amazing as always. Cant wait for the rest. Oh I quit my job too. (20 years a nurse) It is nice. he he he.

:welcome: back and :yay: That is AWESOME!!! Congratulations!!!!!!!!

And thank you so much for the encouragement about the house. We had it on the market just before Henry was born, and now again since he was 1. We have had 2 showing this ENTIRE year. It's so frustrating sometimes. I know the price is high for our area since there are many, many foreclosures. But we just cannot take TOO much of a hit on it....I'm sure you know all too well. :goodvibes

So, how many times have you been to the parks so far???

Oh my goodness Henry looked so grown up with his haircut! I love the picture of you holding him after his haircu..you look like such a proud Ma Ma.

I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving! Your comments are so true. I can't beleive you will be back there in less than a month!

Thank you! I was proud and excited for my big little boy. He was thrilled with his spikey hair and loved when we did his hair that way after too. Now it's too long again to spike!

I can't believev we will be there either in less than a month!!! :dance3: It feels real, but still a bit surreal due to all the holiday stuff going on too.

Doesn't it just break your heart? It's exciting to watch him grow up and learn so many things and look bigger and older every day, but man.......! Slow down! :rotfl:

Ooooh! That is SO GREAT to hear about you being from St. Louis! I know nothing about the City, so I will be needing assistance when planning. :thumbsup2 I would also LOVE the brochures and coupons!!! Thank you!!! Once this trip is over and past, I will start planning for the Chicago/St. Louis, I'll be sure to contact you for help! I might even do something here on the Community Boards because writing it all out helps keep me organized! :goodvibes

I agree, a LITTLE guy. ;) He is my little dude, I call him that all the time.

The days are flyyyyyying right on by. Pretty soon I will have fewer days than items on my to-do list!

Wow, no way would I have the patience to wait that long. But I cute hair, so I wouldn't go there in the first place. LOL! But that is a LONG wait.
He looks so hansome tho!

:rotfl2: It was a long wait! The other people waiting in line helped make it bearable. We all would look at each other with a knowing look of "UGH!" when another person from that family would stand up to get a cut. They were sitting on a bench away from the rest of us and no one knew, or had the guts, to ask how many of them there were!

I agree with you. We do create nice bonds here :)

I tell Joe all about people from the DIS, it's like you guys are extended family! I know I miss you when I don't make it back on the boards for a few days too!

Very cute update. He does look so much older! Hope you Thanksgiving was fun and le tthe countdown begin!!

Thank you!!! The days are flying right on by, just 23 left now! I can't believe it's been a week since Thanksgiving already.

:lmao:

Oh ya, I think that MANY days, especially 'Is it nap time yet? 2 more hours...' I LOVE being home though, it's been a wonderful experience! I have no idea how I ever worked and got things done around here though...:confused3

Awesome updates! Amazing job waiting that long and not going crazy. Loved the haircut. You're right, it's amazing what a simple trip to the doo will do. Tahli cut her hair short right before our trip and she looked two years older. Which made me a bit sad.

So the cutting of the hair = them growing up before your eyes doesn't stop anytime soon, huh? Maybe by the time they are like 10 it will not do that anymore? :sad2: It's fun to see them grow up, but heart breaking too!

No problem! I have been behind on my updates too - I've been working on catching up again this week and I'm ALMOST there. Just got a handful left of my subscriptions that I haven't read yet. And I need to update here too! :yay:

He really did do a good job sitting in the chair. I was pretty surprised being that he is two and does get antsy pretty quickly. He did at one point, but the Buzz toy kept him there for another 10 minutes. Those Barbers can be QUICK with the little ones too. :thumbsup2

ahhh...now I want to have Maclaren's hair cut while we are there in January. right now he is my little mop-head with hair that always falls straight across his forehead. maybe we need a more extreme hair cut like Henry got. You are right though...from baby to little boy with a few quick flicks of the scissors! although, have to say...don't know that I could wait patiently for that long...you deserve momma of the year for that one! :)

dawn

:rotfl: Thanks! :goodvibes It really wasn't a bad wait with the adult conversation I was able to have. If Henry had been in there, we would have never lasted!

I really enjoy the hair cuts at the Barbershop. For the first one they give a set of ears with "First Haircut" written on the back, along with locks of the hair and a certificate. And of course, OODLES of Mickey stickers. It's quite a deal for just $14!

When we did his first haircut (Nov. 2008) we went in the early afternoon and only waited about 15 minutes. It was a much better time to go - I think most families are done with the Barbershop and those with the little ones are back at the resorts napping.

OMG Brook!! The haircut pictures are too cute!! I LOVE them!! Your a braver mom then me! I don't think I can let go of the baby hair yet!!! I can't believe you waited 2.5 hours!!!!

We did his first haircut in November 2008, so this one wasn't too hard! That one WAS. The only thing that made it less painful was the fact that we were at Disney World. :rotfl:

When I last left you we were arriving at Epcot, via monorail from MK. It was close to Noon by this time.

Arriving in Epcot, where would we go first?

Test Track?

Soarin'?

644166883_WwRcd-M.jpg

Nope!

Nemo it is!

644169079_iEeGL-M.jpg

Henry really enjoyed the birds outside, amazed that they moved and talked. At that point he hadn't seen any of the movie yet, so he didn't quite understand or recoginze who they were - but he knew they were fun!

644167524_mCibo-M.jpg

644164883_qndtN-M.jpg

And here are some blurry ride pictures for you to enjoy! ;)

644178964_ZoxLL-M.jpg

This is a cute ride, I really like the EAC part, it kinda boggles with your eyes and mind. And the starfish at the end always makes us laugh. I expect the next ride here is going to be an even bigger winner for Henry since he has now seen the movie and REALLY likes Nemo!

After the ride we headed over to Turtle Talk.

644185937_72AoQ-M.jpg

We had a slight wait before the next showing, so we enjoyed the aquariums while we waited.

644176201_qyxWM-M.jpg

Soon we were let into the small theater. This show never fails to make me laugh! I like how it's always different depending on the kids' questions. This time we had at least four kids completely forget their question when Crush called upon them, it was adorable!

Crush handled it well, "No problem little dude!" :goodvibes

After Turtle Talk...

644181870_fQz3V-M.jpg

More aquarium visiting, where Henry thought it was awfully fun to walk along the ledge. I not so silently freaked out while he did this. I'm a slightly overprotective Mommy!

He; however, thought it was hilarious and so-much-fun! And probably even more so due to my reaction.

644172654_h3yW4-M.jpg

644180125_kyjf9-M.jpg

He was safe, he wasn't moving too fast and the ledge was certainly wide enough. Plus Joe was right there. My heart was still skipping beats, but I tried to play it cool. ;)

After Nemo we moseyed over to The Land. Soarin' was calling my name. Fastpasses were obtained and this Mickey Gnome was coveted. He is stinkin' cute, isn't he? One day he will be mine. ::yes::

644175607_hY3iL-M.jpg

We were all more than ready for lunch by now and how very convenient to be in The Land! We could finally have a meal at Sunshine Seasons. :thumbsup2 I had wanted to eat here since trip one, but it never worked out until now.

After much debating and deliberation here is what we ended up with:

Henry:
644181996_WLVfS-M.jpg

Joe:
644177202_jT8rf-M.jpg

Smoked Ham and Salami - on Asiago Ciabatta with potato salad

Me:
644171908_acTnz-M.jpg

Oh, and a sandwich too...
644184303_j33J2-M.jpg

Turkey and Monterey Jack Cheese on Foccacia. Normally comes with Chipotle Mayonnaise, but not for me. And chips.

I had pretty high expectations. They weren't exactly met. I wasn't disappointed, but not thrilled.

My sandwich was good, but the bread was too thick with not enough meat/toppings. Joe was pretty meh about the entire experience, his bread was too thick as well, and it was and dry, there was a strange vingeray sauce on his sandwich - he is not a fan of most vinegar based sauces. He was disappointed he wasn't given the option of a side-they just plopped the strange potato salad on his plate....I specifically asked for a different side after seeing his. We are used to creamy potato salad here in the midwest! ;)

Henry, on the other hand, gobbled everything!

However, that strawberry shortcake, which both Joe and I had - did NOT disappoint. We enjoyed every single bite!

After lunch my Fastpass window was open...and if I recall correctly, even the wait time wasn't bad at all. The crowds were very low!

I ended up in the 2nd row, which was just fine with me - a beautiful ride as always!!

While I rode Soarin' Joe took Henry back over to Nemo for another enjoyable ride. I met up with them outside the pavilion

644185436_CUoYJ-M.jpg

Joe decided to wait and ride Soarin' later, he could ride after Henry fell asleep, so we moved on....to the splash pad! :goodvibes

644171130_Y2Wdr-M.jpg

644176852_nQVct-M.jpg

It was HOT and those misters felt great!

We knew nap time was soon approaching and we wanted to squeeze in the Mexico ride so Henry could see Dut Dut - so we quickly scampered over to Mexico.

I have to agree with most people, it is slightly disturbing that they have a Donald Duck pinata!

644178757_Dr5vy-M.jpg

Not my best fireworks pic ever. ;)

644170733_xQ4RZ-M.jpg

We all thought it was a cute ride! Henry was fairly silent for most of the ride, but didn't fall asleep.

After we explored the beautiful pavilion a bit.

Gotta check out that Dut Dut again.

Henry tried on hats. He actually LIKED these little sombreros on and didn't understand why they would fall off. Goofy kid!:rotfl::lovestruc

He was still wide awake, so Joe and I thought we'd hit Test Track. He would most definitely nap while we were waiting for each other.

And thus ends our adventure in the World Showcase. We hit exactly ONE country this time. ONE! We have some serious WS time planned for this coming trip to make up for it.

Up next: Will this little boy ever nap?
