This past Sunday signed up for JTA smoothly.

Tips:

1) Getting there early still pays. Got to "turnstiles" at 8ish, second in line.

2) New internal RD makes it better. "Turnstiles" opened @ 0830, walk briskly to the left in front of HV and 50s, and line up. Apparently there was a line in front of the soon to be gone stage area. Several CM kept all the cattle I mean people in line and prevented the RD re-bunch up. There was a line for JTA on the left side. Right side was for everyone else...which was no one. At 0845 they walk everyone peacefully and orderly to ABC. I was 3rd group in line and it was so leisurely and orderly...ah loved it.

3) As of right now go left to HV side line, not the "stage" line. Robo suggested this (THANK YOU ROBO) path in comparison and it was by far the best. The CM said they walk both lines at same time and then we were to mix at ABC. I was third in line and when we arrived to ABC I looked right before going in and didn't see the stage line at all yet.

4) Pre ADR are a disadvantage now IMO. I canceled my HV breakfast and so happy I did in hindsight, but if you can finish and out door by 0830 it could still be useful, but that's even more rushing than 0845 as suggested in past.

If you want more details I'm gonna post my trip report and JTA experience in more detail in the Trip Report section. Just thought I'd share strategy with new RD procedure before the supposed closing of JTA. I know I wanted this info before I left.

thank you, we are going to dhs for the first time in november and have a reservation for sci fi at 8am, just to have an advantage to be in park early, but it sounds as though its not needed with new rd.

Just wanted to add some notes to the OP. We got to the turnstiles at 7:40 am Monday and long story short, ended up in the 10:10 am show (that ended up rained out) due in large part to: (1) an earlier arriving group of 2 people at the turnstiles who were line holders for a later arriving larger group containing 9 kids and this group became first in line to sign up for JTA; (2) a last minute merge of a group that came from the stage side and/or early ADR people that happened right before the ABC studio; and (3) a group of us who didn't realize you needed to park your stroller before entering the studio for actual sign ups, resulting in us losing our place in line while we parked.

Posting so that people know of the merge of the lines towards the end and the stroller parking factor.

Any word on the truth of the rumor that JTA will be closed in October and November? We're going in November and two of my grandkids really want to do this.

Yes. The current version of JTA ends on October 4th. The only noted re-opening date told to Make A Wish: December 1st.
