Journey to Atlantis

Will Journey to Atlantis be open in January? Planning on going on January 8th on Sunday, and worried that if this is closed, there will only be like 4 rides open...

What else is there to do besides the rides? Which shows and exhibits are must sees?

To add a few more things that I would consider "must-do's"......

Manta, Kraken & Mako (if you are coaster enthusiasts)

Turtle Trek

Visit the penguins at Antarctica (with or without riding the ride....the penguins are a must-see)

Blue Horizons (our favourite show at the park)

Pets Ahoy

Shark Encounter

Jewel of the Sea Aquarium (at Journey to Atlantis)

Visit the dolphin nursery

Catch the Flamingo Parade through the park


And....if the budget will allow for an extra or two:

- book the Dolphin Encounter ($15 pp)

- pick a pearl at Oyster's Secret ($16.95)

- feed the sea lions and the sting rays (also sharks, too....though we find them less exciting) ($5/tray for food, or 3/$10)

- have a Shamu Sundae....delicious ice cream AND you get to keep the bowl ($6.95)

OP even though the Pengins ride was 'seasonally closed' during our October trip, Atlantis ride was running. I was told you can call the park the day of to verify what is operating that day. The penguin exhibit is typically open.

Lots of good suggestions here, mine are a bit off the beaten path. Having seen the shows more times than I can count, we don't feel the need to work them in every visit. I like SW specifically because you can have a great time there without planning a thing before you enter the park. It's such a relaxing day to just meander about and relax.

Check out the Manatee rehab exhibit, they did a wonderful job updating it. Manatees are waaay cooler than diva Dolphins lol. For other fans, they have a nice selection of manatee gift merchandise too

It's a joy to feed the seals @ the Pacific Point Preserve. The special for three feedings (includes seals, Rays & sharks is a steal IMO).
