I've seen mixed reviews of Journey to Atlantis - just wondered what people thought of it and whether it was worth a long wait.

I thought it was a pretty good ride, I don't think it's as good as splash mountain, but I think it's better than Kali river rapids. What's a "worthwhile wait" is up to the individual, but I'd rank it about halfway between the two rides I mention. I wouldn't queue for 45-60 minutes for it, but IMHO it's certainly worth 30-45 if you've not done it before and I'd happily queue 15-30 to ride it again having done so many times.

I'm sorry but that is a poor comparison, Splash Mountain and Kali River Rafts. This is like comparing apples and oranges. Journey is always worth the wait especially during a hot summer or even spring day. They have some pretty good decorations in there but not always working and have a couple of pretty interesting drops on it. I would have to say do it since there are only 3 thrill rides at SeaWorld.

Well the theming stinks. THe story inside makes no sense. My stepdad seemed to understand it, but he was the only one. Also the effects inside the ride were not the best. But the ride itself is not bad at all. The drop is incredible, very long and steep. Once the drop is over you go back up and end up on a mini roller coaster type thing that deposits you in more water. We rode twice, the first time in the back 2 rows and got a little wet. We rode a second time and were in the front 2 rows. We walked off that ride ringing the water out of our clothes. You get really wet. The waits are much longer immediately after a dolphin show lets out, not bad while there's one in progress. Overall we really liked the ride a lot.

Last year the "waittime" was at 90 minutes and the ride broke down, the CMs said it would take 30-60 minutes to repair the ride, but people were welcome to stay in the queue ( making a wait time of potentially two and a half hours). Do you think JTA is worth that long a wait? I don't think ANY ride is worth waiting that long.

As this site is predominately a Disney one I used similar Disney rides to give the OP something they are likely to know as a point of reference. If you can think of any other Disney rides that involve "flume" type rides and drops into water, you're welcome to add to the topic. Other than the very short one in Norway at Epcot I can't think of any ( IMHO the drop at POC doesn't count)

Personally I would compare it to Duddleys at IOA sorry its not Disney  as for waiting over 2 hrs agree no ride is worth that wait but thats a very rare instance and I think the OP wanted info for regular wait time and I would wait 45 min for it or an hour its a fun ride as for story not making sense never really noticed didn;t even realise there was a story just like the ride
:jester:

I went on it. My mom forced me.

I HATE ROLLER COASTERS!!!!! I HATE BIG DROPS!!!!
As you can probibly amagine, I HATED IT! ::yes::

Though, I admitt, if you have roller coaster fan, it is worth a very small wait!
I did not get the story at all.

WARNING: this ride is  and :earseek: It is extremly fast an a little jerky in the mini roller coaster

EDIT: My mom and I went early and got to Journey to Atlantis with out any lines. Right after they opend.

its a very good ride but can't help but think that if some of the Disney Imagineers could get their hands on it...they could improve the overall look, theme, Q-ing, etc.
