Journey into Imagination with Figment closing

Gran Fiesta with Donald Duck (basically took the ride at Mexico and just threw Donald in)

I hate it -- talk about a ride that needs a refurb
But that's a tie-in with Disney characters, not with any movie. So it makes the ride fun for kids and a tiny bit more entertaining for adults bored by 'that kind of thing'. In fact, Norway might take a tip from Mexico. Only a small percentage of the guests who ride through Norway stay for the movie to learn about the country.

We love Figment and I wish they would go back to the original because I don't really like the version they have now.

They can get rid of Stitch if they like.

Really?

Three pages (so far) on "the CM said..." info from a first-time poster?

Yes, I've been waiting to see how long it would take for someone to scream out troll...

I don't think this was a troll, and I resisted the temptation to call out that the first TWO posts in this thread were the very first posts of two users, but yes, a lot of people seem to be getting worked up over a "CM said" post. Remember - some of those CMs repeat the same rumors that run around the net - if there was already a planned closure, it would at least be on the internal CM system and we'd be hearing a lot more about it. Even the semi-reliable rumor/news people have not even said a word.

Any chance the new sponsor will be a big fan of the original Journey with Figment, Dreamfinder and want to bring back that magic to the pavillion?

That would really be the best case scenario.

I couldn't agree more! The current Figment is better than no Figment at all. But what I really miss is the original! We loved Figment's "ice" room...aaahhh :cloud9:

The Three Caballeros IS a movie, but I see your point. Personally, we LOVE that ride. My kids ride it repeatedly everytime we're there. Sometimes we don't even have to get off of the boat to go again because there is no line.

As for Norway, we also love that ride, but we've seen the movie several times already, so we no longer stay to watch.

Have to agree with Robo here. This screams "RUMOR!!!!!!!!!!!!" and nothing more. Let's all go back to the real Disney planning, please.

I'm going to have to agree with the rumor, if for no other reason than Disney does change things, even if they don't need to be changed.

I'm one who would love to see the original Journey Into Imagination return. Version two was really bad and the current version is more like a carnival fun house.

My biggest worry is what the imagineers will come up with in the refurb or replacement version. While there is no denying many things at WDW could use refreshing, too often the original charm is lost in the process. The result is a very special place becoming more of an amusement park.

For those who are concerned about when and how long, consider that Wonders of Life has been sitting dormant for several years.

Yeah, I miss the days when EPCOT had no Disney characters in the park. Back then it was like a different place. Now every ride has to tie into a Disney movie..

I am always puzzled by that statement. How much of Disneyland wasn't in some way connected with a Disney Cartoon or Movie. Almost none of it. It's a Disney park. Why shouldn't we expect to see a Disney connection in almost everything. Epcot, is less reliant on that connection but since Future World has finally given up on trying to be future in any sense other then speculation or, as I like to call it, The Maybe, who knows Syndrome, it is only natural to fall back on things that most people can identify with.

I also don't know of anytime that Disney didn't have characters in the parks in one form or the other.

Has any one confirmed this with a bus driver or the guy that empties the trash cans???

Until then it is just a rumor.

Dan

Truth. I never believe anything until I'm a bus back to my resort and the driver is telling me about the upcoming 5th park. :thumbsup2

I don't take anything like that heard from a random CM seriously until there is other confirmation. CM's have all sorts of stories that have no truth to them.

We love Figment! Sad. But very glad that the last time I was there (w/o kids) I took a chance, flew through the World Showcase and into the Figment store just as they were locking up because I suddenly remembered I had forgotten to get my youngest a Figment--the only thing she asked for. (Yes I am a bad mommy for forgetting till the last minute!)

Figment has a huge fan base and i don't think they'd be closing it anytime soon. If they do, the boards will get blasted!!!! We love Figment and go there every time after we got o Soarin.:surfweb:

Mr. Toad had a huge fan base, too. ;)

Not that I believe the OP is nothing more than a rumor at this point, but just pointing out a huge fan base means nothing against the almighty dollar when it comes to Disney.

You also need to remember the Dis is a teeny tiny percentage of Disney guests. Less than 5% would be my guess..that might even be high. LOL

Whether this is a rumor or not, you'd have to believe that Disney plans to do something with the Imagination pavilion someday. You can hear crickets in the place when you enter to ride.

Yes. This. I wouldn't believe this rumor if it came out of the blue from a random CM, but there have been a growing number of rumors on other boards about potential changes at Imagination.

I'd expect that they probably have future designs on almost every attraction and pavilion, 99% of which will never happen.

Even if the rumored sponsor was a full fledged fan of Figment and the original version of the ride, you wouldn't get the original back exactly - it would have to reflect the whims of the sponsor as well...and whether the sponsor's money covers the re-expansion and associated maintenance, and paying for Dreamfinder to appear for M&Gs, etc...

My one daughter (14)would be so upset when and if the day ever happens. She loves Figment with a passion. My other two like Figment but i'm sure could handle the new changes....lol

I remember last year we stayed for EMH and went to go ride Figment and the CM told us that Figment was bad and sent to his room since he made a mess of the place. He was being grounded. We laughed and thought that was the best answer that CM could ever say to my kids. To this day my 4 year old still brings it up once in a while if Figment is being good.

Overall don't get bent out of shape till the word is finally said from an internal CM. Alot of times things said are only rumors.

I thought the same thing that you and Robo said.... and the replier only had 2 posts as well. :) but I'm still a newbie myself, so to speak... So didn't want to cry wolf.:)
