I'll believe it when I see it written from Disney - but I do agree it needs an update, refurb or replacement!
What rides are you talking about? Nemo is the only ride I can think of at Epcot that has a movie tie-in. Maybe I'm forgetting some, though- which ones?
Any chance the new sponsor will be a big fan of the original Journey with Figment, Dreamfinder and want to bring back that magic to the pavillion?
That would really be the best case scenario.
Right, because they closed Alien Encounter and replaced it with Stitch, and that was awesome!
Seriously, I'm not surprised, given the issues with sponsorship there.
Epcot could use some work but it's in much better shape now than it was 15 years ago... in the mid-90s, the park was clearly still offering a very "early 80s" view of the future.
This. I can never comprehend how anyone can look back longingly on the "old" Epcot. We used to joke that every single pavilion had some sort of footage of a space shuttle launch like it was some big futuristic deal. It became very dated the minute it opened. I remember our first visit the year it opened and we all remarked how this "new" state of the art park paled in comparison to the 1964 World's Fair. There is no better place to demonstrate Walt's original vision that WDW will never be "completed" and will always evolve. With that goal and mission statement in mind, JIA must go, and in no way should it take a step backwards to the lame ride that was presented upon opening. With so many technological advances now available and on the horizon, the Imagination pavilion should wow us with things to come. Not propeller driven derigibles from Jules Vernes 19th century world.
Any chance the new sponsor will be a big fan of the original Journey with Figment, Dreamfinder and want to bring back that magic to the pavillion?

I loved that rainbow corridor!
Well the problem with the "things to come" approach is that they so quickly become outdated. That's why Tomorrowland in MK had to become the "future that never was" instead of the actual future.
World of Motion at Epcot was neat because it was like Spaceship Earth, more a history of travel than anything. Horizons did showcase future living, but actually not much of it has really come to pass!
